  1. This question has haunted me my whole life. I'm 53 and I currently like my job, but it's not a dream job. I love the answers here.
  2. This is too cute!!!!! Even your parachute is smiling. I parasailed on my honeymoon at my lowest adult weight. That will be a great goal to have again. Congratulations on your anniversary and your NSV!!!!
  3. Hurray and congratulations!!!
  4. Scamp, you look great! Thanks for the pics!
  5. I don't do crunches or anything, but I hardly ever notice my port now at almost 14 weeks post op. If I push on it I can irritate it intentionally, but nothing I do day to day seems to bother it, including sleeping on my stomach.
  6. @@gowalking, I just love reading about your success! Yes, a good problem to have. I was just thinking yesterday how little I spend on food now and how seldom I am in the grocery store. I'll be making it up on clothes soon.
  7. Mine is 800-1100 although I try for 800. Usually coming in around 1000.
  8. I can't tell if I need another fill or not. I can eat certain things like salads without a problem. I can eat about three ounces of solid protein like ground meat without a problem but then I feel a soft stop. Other foods like pork chops get stuck right away. I'm thinking I will wait until my scheduled appointment in July to decide, but I will probably stay put. Salads and bread may be sliders for me, so I want to start focusing on protein and veggies only right now. I've lost weight this month but it bounces up and down. I'm on my second fill and have 7 in a 14cc band.
  9. @@SwanRose, I was banded on March 13. From February to now I have lost 64 pounds. I haven't tried running, but I'm a walking maniac now. My back pain is GONE. I could not walk around one block before I began this process. I recently went to Italy and walked miles and miles every day on cobblestones. My knees and feet hurt by the end of each day but my back never did, and I never got out of breath at all. And Italy is very hilly! I am amazed at what this partial weight loss has done for my osteoarthritis so far. I also dropped one blood pressure medicine of two and am working on eliminating my cholesterol med and my second BP med. Off NSAIDs since March. Just arthritis Tylenol twice a day. Yes, go for it! .
  10. I know!! I had to pack lightly for Italy because I knew I'd be helping to carry my daughter's luggage from her semester abroad as well. So I left my hot rollers home. Everything fit so easily. I thought no way did the hot rollers take up that much room!! I've only gone down a couple of sizes so far, but yes, everything is smaller. I notice it in the laundry each week as well. Great post!!
  11. 238.0 on June 15. And I walked 10,000 steps on FitBit today. Woo hoo! .
  12. I got stuck, really stuck, on pork chops tonight. Second attempt at pork chops so I guess that won't be a food I get to have anymore. For the first time I experienced sliming and spitting up. I fought it like hell but the burping up just wouldn't stop. I learned: The first bite of anything must be really small and well chewed. Wait a minute or so between the first bite and the second bite. At the first sign of feeling stuck, FOR GOD'S SAKE, WOMAN, STOP EATING! "Hmmm, that feels weird. Must have taken too big of a first bite. Here, my next two will be real small and chewed thoroughly." Yeah, um, NO! Those two extra bites were the ones that came up after fifteen minutes with about a cup of foamy phlegm. Live. And. Learn.
  13. @@Debbie3sons, ziplining!!! Omg, I watched my kid do that about a year ago and nearly had a heart attack. Good for you!! And don't you feel like you need a vacation to recover from your vacation?
  14. Some of the best success stories are second-time-around success stories. This encourages me that I can always try again and get back on track with my band. Let's face it. Many of us have lost a big chunk of weight in the past, only to start gaining again and then giving up. To see folks here shake off the "can'ts" and get back to basics and succeed at it is truly inspiring. And brave. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Oh wow! That is funny. Congratulations on your new beautiful look.
  16. @@kathousefl, thanks for posting and congratulations on your success. I'm three months post op today and I'm so glad I made this choice. Reading stories like yours helps me immensely. Welcome to the forums and keep posting !
  17. Here's the event that forever made me lose my embarrassment of going to a locker room or gym. About fifteen years ago I weighed probably 240 or so. My daughters were about 3 and 4 years old. My husband and I decided to take them to a new indoor Water park that opened in a nearby suburb. It wasn't until I got to the locker room that I realized I had packed each of them a toddler towel (with the animal hoodie) but had forgotten to pack my own towel. We had to shower, shampoo and change after swimming in the chlorine. Had I been alone I could have ducked into a bathroom stall to strip down and change, but I wasn't going to leave my kids alone in the locker room with strangers and they needed my help showering and dressing. Their mini towels wouldn't cover even one of my legs. So, I sucked it up and walked bare-ass naked from the showers to the lockers with my freshly shampooed kids. They didn't notice, but boy did everyone else. I felt the stares, especially from the younger people. As I glanced up and saw someone staring at my big old naked body, I just held their gaze until they looked away. A couple of preteen girls snickered, but I acted like there was nothing unusual about showering and dressing my big body. I remember thinking that I did not want my girls to see me ashamed. After that incident, I figured if I could walk naked towel-less in a locker room in front of complete strangers, I wasn't going to be fazed by going to a gym. I did an Aqua Zumba class this spring with a pal and loved it. I don't stay away from the gym because of embarrassment. I just hate exercise. Lol.
  18. @@par1959, I do disagree. I've struggled mightily all of my life with overweight and obesity. I was not a loafer. I was addicted to binge eating for a variety of reasons. I starved myself from 305 down to 156 at age 28. I immediately began bouncing back up the scale. Every aspect of my life was tightly controlled and meticulously perfect except my eating. I put myself through college while working full time. I cared for an ailing grandmother, aunt and father until each of them died. As a married woman I was a room mom, and a hands on parent while working part time and later full time. WLS is not making it easy for me to lose weight. It's saving my life by helping me keep the weight off. I wish to God I had been brave enough to do it in my twenties. Peace.
  19. Good to know. That Isopure is nasty.
  20. I am so sorry. This post just kicked the breath out of me. I agree we need to be prepared for anything. We cannot have a crystal ball and know what's coming next. I wish you peace and a happy life.
