:faint: UPDATE I received my lab report and all is NORMAL. Good and bad news. Now I guess I need to further my investigation as my energy level is still sluggish. I am tired of feeling tired....Shawn

Great advice from Vines and P'Nut. Remember: They are children going through trauma, at one point or another. Divorce and breakups are traumatic on the teens as well. They will defend themselves. If you give them love, patience, consistency, and LOVE it will take time. The first year will be rough. Shawn

Stomach sleepers UNITE! Ok. I was concerned about the sleeping positon also. Ended up sleeping on back, then side a week later, then modified stomach position. After about a month, bam full stomach-RELIEF! Shawn

Oh gosh, I understand your low spirits. Too look forward to something then bam, it never occurs (if and when?). So glad that you are moving forward and not waiting on the WLC to setup shop. I always feel better when I know that I'm doing SOMETHING. The other surgeons sound very reasonable in their prices. Good luck and best wishes.. Shawn

Wonderful job! Congrats...Shawn

I've probably has it for 10 years (undiagnosed then). Anyway, my periods the last 5 years have been nonexistent without "help." Once, I had surgery my periods have been coming every month with out meds. My extra "hair" growth has slowed a bit, but still there. I am 6 months out. Shawn

Best wishes Terry! Speedy recovery...Shawn

Rhonda, keep on investingating..here and other places. Obestiyhelp.com is a good website also, with information on surgeons, in each state, plus other info. I had consults with (2) surgeons before choosing one. Find one that you want to see. If you end up with one you don't feel comfortable with, then you don't want to see him/her as much and aftercare suffers. I am considering my banding a success (see below). I am still losing, albeit slowly. I am happy that I did it. Shawn

thinking about doing it, questions...
CCBSTX replied to time4change's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Jen, keep researching and asking questions! Obesityhelp.com is good website also. They have a list of surgeons according to states. In my opinion, with the lapband, you need a surgeon that you WANT to see every few months. There is more maintanance than the other WLS, due to fills/unfills. Especially during the first year. Get a good surgeon, within driving distance, if you can. Sometimes patients from Mexico have problems finding local doctors to get aftercare, due to liability (they didn't put the band in). Good luck. Shawn -
Welcome to LBT! Shawn

feeling week and almost passed out-HELP
CCBSTX replied to Txblue_eyedqt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
To me, you nutrition looks pretty good. However, how hard are you working out? It may be that you need additional Protein or calories. Try logging in on fitday.com to count calories for awhile. It also has a spot to log in your acitivies and calories burned. You are doing wonderful...Shawn -
Outcome of what happened with surgeon today.
CCBSTX replied to raazzberry's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jo Ann, you are in my thoughts and prayers... You shouldn't have to live being uncomfortable or in pain, if you don't have to. Spend some time, as Sue said and evaluate your options. If you decide on another WLS, it might be the time to do it while your having your band removed. Best wishes. Shawn -
Carrie, I am wondering what the official name of these injections are called. Are they called "anti-inflammatory injections" or are the called something else. My Mother has horrible back pain, with herniated disks, and degernative arthritis. I am wondering if this is something that might be helpful beside the oral pain meds. If so, what type of doctor does these injections? Thanks, Shawn

It's normal to feel a restriction, at first. Mostly, it is due to swelling. Once the swelling is down, you'll be able to eat more. But don't fret, once you have your fill again (it might take a couple), you'll feel that restriciton again. Dr. Spivak has a great reputation. Good luck! Shawn

Near Beaumont....Need HELP for a friend
CCBSTX replied to bctxmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr. Spivak has a great track record and reputation. He's in Houston also (mentioned previously). Try the website obesityhelp.com that has info. on surgeons and WLS. Good luck to your friend. Shawn -
I've done pretty well on about 1100-1200 calories per day. Although, I am feeling the need for a fill!!! Shawn
-
I've had 3 uneventful fills/unfills. My surgeon gives me a bit of Lidocaine (small needle) to numb the area and I don't feel a thing... Shawn

I like the way Delarla handled her neighbors (very funny)!!!! Jenna has it right regarding the laws. Most of these folks, like to intimidate. However, stand up for your right and don't be bullied. Be cautious. Most likely they will be gone in a short while. Folks that live in chaos, often move around..in my opinion. Shawn

It took me 3 months post-op before I didn't have occasional pain. Stop, if it's painful, and take it easy. You'll be fully recovered in awhile. Shawn

Michelle, isn't it nice to get a simple explanation! It's frustrating sometimes and knowing the reasons does help. Like the others have said, be patient your restriction will come. Sometimes restriction sneaks up on you and BAMM you're tight. I have moments where I can eat the same food 2 days in a row. Day 1=I can eat a small portion. Day 2=I can eat a large portion. Why? I really don't know. Good luck, Shawn

Weight Issues in Americans vs other countries
CCBSTX replied to cashley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've read and watched, on tv, lately about the obesity epidemic being worldwide. Unfortunately, in this case, the US has far reaching influence!!! Sunta's right about the serving size, lack of snacking, etc....They sound like bansters without the band... -
I have an 11 year old and 17 year old. Am I tired!!! O.K. Do what is best for your family.....let your gut lead you. In my opinion, honest and open is the best policy. There is no avoiding sex topics nowadays. The children get their sex education, one way or another (via media, peers, etc). Keep it age appropriate and light. Let her ask questions and leave the topic open for future discussions. Good luck. Shawn

Where's our 6 month anniversary people at??
CCBSTX replied to JAYGERL05's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In a few days, I'll be at 6 months! I can't believe how time flies. Every day I still feel as if I am "learning" my band. It's an amazing road that I am willing to travel. I can't believe I am below 200 now. Shawn -
I am shedding like a dog! Although, it has slowed down since it started 2 months ago. I log my protein on fitday.com and TRY to get at least 60 grams, plus I take the Biotin. On my surgeons message board, someone asked when her hair would stop falling out. He said usually about 8 months or so from your surgery date! Shawn
