GemmaLicious got a reaction from Stephanie Salsera Perrott in Have you smoked or vaped e-cigarettes and not had complications post surgery?
Hello, well I had my surgery a month ago and didn't stop vaping. I vaped in front of the staff just before going for my surgery and once conscious I continued. I've not had any complications due to nicotine. I believe cigs with the tar and chemicals would have had an effect on my recovery but not vaping. So happy days )
So my advise to anyone awaiting surgery who smokes would be to make the switch. )

Hey, I'm 10 weeks as well but only down 33 pounds. Wish it was more and instead if only gardening and walking I've been swimming today trying to burn more calories. Hopefully the scales will reflect my efforts lol.

Hi it's been interesting to read all your comments, experience and suggestions and I'm only 3 months post op and only down 33 pounds. I seem to have stalled already. I've also recently started replacing meals with the Lighterlife milkshakes and if I eat anything I'm just sticking to chicken and turkey. I was just walking and gardening for exercise but have bought an exercise machine which I'll put together tomorrow and been swimming today. I think it must be not varying and doing enough cardio exercise. I'm varying my calorie intake between 500 to 800 calories a day and if I have a bad day I allow myself to go up as high as 1200 but never more than that. Think I need to stop that though and stick to under 800.
I find it interesting that some of you say your only just starting to crave food as I haven't really stopped. Ok so post op for about 2 weeks I could barely sip Water and found eating really hard. Since then, I miss food so much and when I see chocolate or smell bread and home cooked food my mouth waters and I wish I could eat it all lol. I know I can't but it doesn't stop my head obsessing over food.

I'm happy to say I'm 8 weeks out and down 35lb. I'm finally at a point where my co- workers who see me daily are noticing. Yesterday I wore a brand new dress ( size 18- down from 22) and EVERYONE had something to say. All good of course. It's amazing what wearing cloths in the right size instead of your old baggies can do I'm so excited for this journey! I wish I would have done it sooner!

That is about where I am as well. 28 pounds since surgery on April 21. I expected it to be a little faster, but as long as it keeps going down, I am trying not to worry about it. Thanks for sharing.

I am 5 days out and think the word only should be dropped. I'm proud of each of you! You have committed to a very difficult undertaking (if a say so myself :)and you are half way there so in 8-10 weeks if you keep with your current pace you will reach your goal. Congratulations! !

GemmaLicious reacted to snow25 in What ya eating tonight?
I love the morning star "sausage." 10g of protein! I also like the Boca Burger... It has 15g of Protein. Tonight I had baked chicken and a small piece of sweet potato. So far nothing I've tried has agitated my tummy. That's good and a little scary. I almost want my body to reject something's so I stay away from them. I am way too scared and way too gung ho about loosing weight to try sugar or fried foods!

My two cents again; others may disagree. As I get closer to my goal weight, I am lucky to lose 3 pounds in a month. It's much more likely that I hover at about the same weight for several weeks and then take off a pound or two, then hover, etc. There's not as much there to lose, as far as my body is concerned. And as I'm within 20 pounds of a reasonably low weight for myself, and 30 pounds of my college weight, things are getting stubborn. It's okay. It's not fun, but it's okay.

Thank you everyone for all your replys and advise. It's really helped. I'm going to try all your suggestions and concentrate on Protein and also try eating less. I've been recording everything which I eat on myfitnesspal which has been very helpful.
That's my weight since starting my pre op diet. My heaviest weight was nearly 20 stone but I worked hard to get some weight of before starting the pre op diet. However I lost that weight slowly by just trying to make healthier food choices.
You're all right, it will come of just not as fast as I'd hoped. I guess it's much healthier to drop weight slowly especially to allow skin to hopefully bounce back. I made the mistake of telling everyone I was having the surgery so when I see anyone I think they're thinking I'm not loosing quick enough. Why I worry about what anyone else thinks I don't know, this is our journey.
    Thankyou for all your responses

GemmaLicious reacted to MichiganChic in What is your advice?
My advice is pay attention to what you are doing and the response your body gives you. Each of us are unique, and while there are overarching rules we all need to follow, our success is as unique as we are. What works for one may not work for another. For me, I attribute my success to tracking what I eat. I have to weigh and measure food. I don't do it as much now as I did at first, but I still do it to get a reality check and make sure my eye sees portion size correctly. I track EVERY bite I eat and and drink. I do not let one thing slip past my lips that I don't log on myfitnesspal. You can consume a lot of calories without realizing it, and I have to constantly fight the urge to graze. Forcing myself to be honest about what I'm consuming really keeps me in line. I've learned that I need very little calories to maintain, and even fewer to lose. Follow your docs plan and pay attention to what works for you.

Everyone's preop diets are so different mine has been 3 weeks of 1000kals a day low fat low carb so I've had omelettes and chicken salad everyday but I've found that ok I'd have struggled with liquid for 2 weeks! I have lost as of this morning 1.5stone on that pre op diet in 3 weeks though so wow!!!'
