    what's wrong with me?

I gained weight right after surgery and then about 15 days out, weight started pouring off...5 weeks post surgery I'm 40 lbs down from highest weight with a total weight loss of 48 lbs. Hang in there-- it will come off. My surgeon told me not to focus on weight loss during the first few months, but rather focus on setting up my routine and taking my Vitamins and getting my walk up to 2 miles a day.
  2. Try Jay Robb whey Protein-- chocolate is good and mix with skimmed milk, and flavor with vanilla extract...it helps...not too bad and I HATE the Protein drinking but we HAVE to do it. I'd like to keep my hair and muscles that I do have! Good luck!
  3. Thank you both for your encouraging words! I feel much more hopeful. Patience is not one of my virtues but I'm working to change that too!
  4. I had my surgery on February 4, 2014. I lost 12 lbs going into the surgery, gained 8 lbs days after surgery, and have lost a total of 43 lbs. My first two weeks home have been pretty uneventful and although I've been approved to eat mushy foods, I'm not having the best of times. I am having a hard time chewing (wear braces), food tastes horrible, and I feel extremely limited. I am able to keep focused and just eat to live but I have to know that this is going to get better. My ultimate goal is to lose at least 85 lbs and anything after that is going to be a blessing and a result of a total lifestyle change. All things I have faith will happen. I am already feeling better. My joints don't ache, I feel lighter, and healthier. I need some help hearing that variety and tolerance will be better and that although I never want to eat the portions/calories I use to, the variety and quality of food will improve. Also I'm not understanding how my portion will increase from 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup, if I am getting sick while eating the 1/4 cup I'm allowed now? I don't understand if I'll ever enjoy food again. Also, I also struggle with pushing past the initial feelings of success and realize that I have a long way to go to get to thinner days.

    Binge Eating?!

Maybe detox off of sugar and carbs to get yourselft back on track, and exercise for the discipline. I read in another post that another person had similar issues-- the cravings and that when she did that with the help of a trainer, she got back on track and even lost another 30 lbs. I know it is easier said than done, but you sound as though you really want the help, so hope this helps, I know I'll be needing it in the future!

    Favorite Foods Post Op

My experience post surgery (4 weeks) is that it will be many months, maybe a year before you'll be enjoying anything like that. And if you do, it will be 2 tbsps...long term, I'm still waiting for some feedback from this forum about what to expect. Right now I tolerate fish (tilapia, whiting, tuna, crab, shrimp). My favorite food is Wendy's chili w/fat free cheese. I haven't found anything else that I love and I am very unhappy about that. I am praying for some suggestions and hoping that my tastes and tolerance (lots of nausea) will improve. All that being said, I am thankful I had the surgery and remain hopeful that I will regain my desire for and encounter great foods again!
