audefacere got a reaction from built2livenotexist in NSV - Crossing my legs!
And it didn't take an amazing amount of effort to swing my leg over my other. It didn't feel like my legs were going numb for holding them in that position. It was amazing and made me feel like such a "normal" woman.

I have had a really supportive response from my friends and family which I'm so thankful for. I just didn't expect everyone to be giving me their uneducated opinion. It's always funny when someone is like "oh, I know someone who wasn't really successful with the bypass" or "I know someone who gained weight after the bypass". I just look at them and I'm like, "I got the gastric sleeve" It's more annoying than upsetting. I know everyone wants to feel like they're being helpful but it comes off rude sometimes.

Maybe you're not eating enough Protein before your workout. I was having dizzy spells and it was because I wasn't eating enough and possibly dehydrated.

audefacere got a reaction from BeagleLover in 5 days out.... Is this normal?
Everyone is different. I felt hunger and no restriction at about the 1 1/2 week mark. I would still try to eat slowly because you don't want to overeat. I've done it couple of time in the last 3 weeks and it's a miserable feeling. No worries though...just keep trucking along. Your sleeve will tell you when you've eaten too much or drank too much.

I noticed my mother has asked me "are you allowed to eat that?" and included a "look" with it as well. I just say, "I dont know, but I want to see if I can handle it".
A co-worker of mine who had gastric bypass 8 years ago was trying to tell me what to do as far as walking. She said I HAVE TO get up and walk every 2 hours; that's what she was told, so I should do that too since I work 10 hours. Umm, no lady, I don't HAVE TO do that.
I don't like when people try to tell me anything about my surgery or how/what I should be eating, especially when they've got a snickers bar in their hand.

Let me introduce you to the concept of not giving a darn and the power of telling people not to police your food. I'm truly serious. People who know me wouldn't dare to step to me like that. Those that don't are politely told I am grown and don't need to be told what I can and cannot eat.

Let me set the stage: I'm an avid baker. I plan on opening a bakery some day and even though I was sleeved a little under 3 weeks ago doesn't mean I'm going to stop baking. It took me a long time to develop a new relationship with food. Over the course of the 9 months pre-op, I started to associate food with sustenance and not something that made me happy. Baking makes me happy but not the way a half of pizza use to.
I recently been testing some recipes for the holidays since I plan on baking some goodies as presents. I posted a few pictures to my face book and I had a few people telling me I should be eating pie and cupcakes.
Now I want to be very clear, I didn't post pictures of me eating them just the end product and I haven't had any of baked goods in over 2 months. It really annoyed me because I know what I can and can not be eating. Its frustrating when people who haven't gone through the process or have never had any problem with their weight seem to always have an opinion on how I can be successful.
I feel like everyone is watching what I eat.... Anyone else feel this way?

audefacere got a reaction from built2livenotexist in 3 weeks post- op. No weight loss in 6 days?
I am nearing the end of my third week. I didn't lose anything from end of week 2 until just this past friday and even then it was only 3 lbs. I'm chalking it up to that I'm really backed up (TMI sorry) and at the 2 week mark is when I started to eat more foods. I'm hoping for better results in the coming weeks.

I would try 2 and see if that works first. Maybe try a small amount of prune juice like 1 ounce as well.

audefacere got a reaction from Stephanie Kandace in First day back at the gym!
Pre-op, I was doing 35 minutes on the elliptical at a moderate pace every other day and strength training all the other days. Since getting sleeved, I've been limited to walking which is frustratingly slow and boring even while watching netflix and listening to music on my phone. I decided to go to the gym to today and hit the treadmills. I did 35 minutes alternating between 2.5 mph and 3 mph. I feel great, maybe a little tired but really great.
I was thinking of trying the elliptical once my incision are fully healed (they are practically heal but still a little sore on the largest) and possibly a recumbent bike. Has anyone else found gym equipment that works for them early in the post op process?

audefacere got a reaction from Grandma2tweeties in Ate my first egg this morning, think I am doing ok?
I started my pureed/soft diet as well. The first time I had an egg I ate it too fast and I couldn't finish it. The second time, I took my time and it went down well. I've been eating chicken salad as well and there hasn't been a problem. I'm surprised how well foods are going down. As long as eat slowly, then my sleeve is a happy sleeve.
    Congrats on your progress!

audefacere got a reaction from time for june in PROTEIN PUDDING! OMG!
I'm 6 days post op and surprisingly getting my fluids in without a problem. The issue I'm having is trying to get in my Protein since I'm since in full liquid diet phase. I've never gotten more than 40 grams Protein in one day which is frustrating because I know the more protein I get in - the better I'll feel. My NUT suggested protein pudding and ohmergawd it's amazing!
1 packet of sugar free vanilla instant pudding (or any flavor your little heart desires)
2 scoops of Isopure Creamy vanilla (or which ever flavor your have)
    2 cups of Skim milk
Whisk for 3 minutes or until it sets. Separate into 5 small containers.
    Servings 5

audefacere got a reaction from EllieMae in How long til incisions heal?
I'm 12 day post op and today was the first day where I didn't notice any incision pain. I never any horrible pain but more soreness unless you count the time my dog jumped on me (that hurt like a SOB). If I touch my largest incision, it feels tender but no pain. I can't wait til they look more healed and less stitch-y. lol.

I am 11 days post op. I would certainly not try pizza... But I have had some Soup with veggies in it. Even had chili that was minced and very thin. I have had zero issues with it. I never eat more than 1/4 cup of anything. I'm supposed to start soft foods Thursday. But have are broccoli soup and veggie soup for about 3 days now. Everyone's wait times vary per surgeon. I told my case manager what I was eating when she called... She asked me if I was a nurse. Lol I said yes, she said she could tell. We really are the worst patients ????

Also u shouldn't be too concerned with Sodium intake at 7 days post op. Dehydration is still a very serious risk. It's good to retain a little Water. Especially when it's soooo hard getting ur whole recommended intake ! Good luck to u!!

Not having the Protein Shakes in the first few weeks? How did you get any Protein in the first week? Clear liquid? Your nut might be a NUT lol. As long as your not losing muscle as opposed to fat. They must know what they're doing but ill say it again; it's so wild how each surgeons office is often soooo different. Crazy. Good luck though.. You seem to have the right mind set and following the guidelines! I can't wait, your inspiring me cause I'm 1 sleep away from my surgery. I haven't slept at all tonight. I'm sure I'll be narcoleptic soon..

audefacere reacted to pinkbunies in 249 lbs... haven't seen this number since I was 18
I have finally reached 249 lbs. I haven't seen this number since I was 18. It feels great so far. I want to get into the 230's and then I'll be really happy.
Only thing I am seeing is I'm getting really tired towards the end of the day and I find myself going to bed around 8 to 9pm and waking up around 4 to 5am.
This would be fine except its getting cold and I hate walking when its cold... so I'm trying to stay active and warm lol
