  1. Yeah! !! Finally made it to the banded side. I had my surgery around noon yesterday. I had enlarged artery near my liver that had to be moved to get to my stomach. While moving it, the surgeon nicked a vein and had to repair it, but other than that, everything went great. Yesterday is a bit of a blur, but I managed to move around a little. Today has been pretty good. I have had my crystal light and protein shake and I've gotten up and walked around the house to get the air out.
  2. Happy St. Patrick's Day! To celebrate the day, I'm going to get my band. I have to be at the hospital in an hour for echo/ekg, then surgery is set for 1:00. Let's get this over with.
  3. Congrats to those banded and thank you for posting your experiences. I'm up Monday and ready for this part of the journey to be over with.
  4. You can do it! !! I'm getting so excited. ... My band date is Monday. Ready!
  5. My surgery is on the 21st. My pre-op is a shake for breakfast, another for lunch and a low cal meal (lean protein and half a cup of veggies. The most I've cheated so far was having a handful of almonds. But I figured they were additional protein anyway. Oh, and a handful of popcorn. :/ but I've told myself I'm back on track today. If you haven't sick with it at all, you probably need to call your doc. Your sabotaging yourself. Been there and done that many times.

    Band date 4/3/14

Praying you do great. I'm set for 1 week from today. I'm nervous, but determined. I've heard that if you get up and walking as soon as possible, the pain is not as bad.
  7. I think I would freak if my doc told me that too. But you will do great.
  8. I'm trying to pretty much ignore the negative and remember that the unhappy usually speak loudest, and that this is just a tool. I still have to do my part. I think the ones who fail the most are those who expect the band to do all the work and them to be able to do whatever they want.
  9. Oh don't say those 2 words. Caramel machiato is my favorite! ! I don't know how you made it through vacation. Congrats. If you can do that, you'll make it.
  10. Yall are doing awesome. Just keep looking at the end goal. In a couple of months we will have our diets nailed and be reaping the benefits.

Congratulations on such a great milestone. That is what I am looking forward to, seeing that 2 drop off. I'm still 9 days away from surgery and take strength from all of your posts. Even in our weak moments.
  12. I'm on day 5 of my pre-op diet. I was feeling sorry for myself, but I'm going to stop now! My doc has me on protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, with a light dinner (4-6 oz. lean protein and half a cup of veggies, or lean cuisine meal under 300 calories).
  13. Congratulations! !! That's great. I'm so ready to be whew you are right now. I'm 4 days down on the pre-op diet and have dropped about 9 lbs. 10 days to go! Welcome everyone.
  14. I was told to plan on a week, but could go back after a few days if I'm of the pain meds. I plan on trying to get up and walk around as soon after surgery as I can to try to avoid some of the gas pain.
  15. Good luck to you both on your surgeries tomorrow and Thursday.
  16. Thank you. I was encouraged to step on the scale and see I'm 6 lbs lighter than I was Sunday night!! Of course Sunday night I had just eaten my last meal. Lol
  17. Question for all of you, I just started my pre-op diet today. I am currently taking prilosec (for acid reflux), synthroid (for my thyroid), a diuretic and cholesterol meds. And vitamins. What meds are you able to get rid of after surgery and how soon after? I was also taking phentermine, but I stopped a couple of weeks ago because I heard you should be of them awhile before surgery.

    Medications

I did my blood work yesterday and the nurse told me she was glad I knew to stop the phentermine, but she didn't know why I would need to stop the vitamins. I'm still going to check with the surgeon on that though.
  19. Day 2 of the pre-op diet was not great, but I made it through. 12 days to go.

    Medications

Thank you all. I will call my surgeons office tomorrow and all about the vitamins. I take a multi vitamin, caltrate w/ vitamin d and an extra 5,000 iu vitamin d. I've been on all the since my hysterectomy a couple of years ago, and without the vitamin d I will hurt. I pretty much figured the thyroid was here to stay, but figured the cholesterol and acid reflux meds could go at some point.
  21. Hope everything goes great Jennifer! I wish mine was only a few days away. I'm only on day 1 of the diet and I'm ready to jump ahead.
  22. Thanks for the encouragement and advice. And Best of luck with surgery! !!
