    Clothing for Hospital

I highly doubt that my husband (who had gastric bypass last year) worried or even thought ahead to what clothes he was taking to the hospital to wear home. So I thought I would post this here, because ladies may care a little more about that comfort! What did you, or what will you, bring with you to the hospital to wear home? I'm still a month away from surgery and my mind goes everywhere right now, and this is where it has landed for the moment. Ha! I want something comfortable, that won't bother the incisions, that I can wear around the house in those first few days.

Just went to my one week postop and had my drain removed. Doing great overall, so I will not complain! Anyone else have a drain removed postop? I know some surgeons use them and others do not. It wasn't painful to have it removed, but since he pulled it, I fill like my stomach is full of air. Yuck. But I'll just walk it off... tomorrow. Hope everyone else is doing well! And those on the preop diet, YOU GOT THIS!

After reading everyone's posts I feel guilty that I didn't have that much pain! The first night there was bad pain in my shoulder, but I started denying the pain meds the next day. Mainly because I know pain meds cause constipation and that's the last thing I want! They did continue to give me Tylenol for comfort. Other than that... I'm sore, I'm tired, and at random times I REALLY want something to eat. lol But not all the time.

Third day (2 night) release is standard for the doctor I went through. I did have a "bleeder" (vein that he tried to cauterize but he didn't know if it would work), but it didn't cause any other issues. I was in a chair the night of surgery and walking the halls the next day though.

I'm so sorry!! I just saw this, so I guess I missed it. Originally insurance denied stating there was no medical reason to remove and that it was successful surgery. My cardiologist had written a letter stating he believed my heart was spawning due to my band, and I had went by ambulance to the ER twice thinking I was having a heart attack. I'm had tests done ruling out my heart. After they denied, I wrote an appeal letter setting out each incident, and that after the fluid was removed from my band the chest pains stopped. After review, they reversed the decision.

Wow! Nice to be moved up! My doc office called and said my pre-op tests show I have a bladder infection, so they are putting me on antibiotics. Glad they caught it now in time to treat and not delay surgery!

    Awesome news!!! Congratulations!
  19. I had to go back and look. It says Powerade Zero. So that has no sugar!
  20. Thank you. I agree wholeheartedly with this post. I have been so confused seeing some listed as Pre-Op but talking as if they were post-op. Glad to know that I am not alone. And apparently, even though the app users cannot see it on every screen, there are ways for them to enter the information.

Congrats on surgery date! I will be a whole 3 days before you. And I have found myself doing the same thing. I start my liver shrink diet on Oct 24th. It's not completely liquids, but my mind keeps telling me to get in all the good stuff before it goes bye bye!

    Clothing for Hospital

I had the lap band a few years ago, and didn't overthink that surgery as much because it was outpatient. This one, gastric bypass, they ha e told me to prepare to be there 3 days. I'm thinking about it way more!

    Clothing for Hospital

I know in the hospital that you don't need anything. I was looking more at the ride home and to wear at home. A light weight Maxi dress is what I was thinking of.
  24. Mine is still a month away, and I have flashes of fear sometimes. But I remember when my husband had his surgery last year and he was the same way. After surgery, he really got in his own head with the "what have I done?!" thing. In a few weeks he was adjusted, dropping weight and loving it. It's still an adjustment a year later, to not go back to what he used to do, but it's so worth the health improvements! Only you can decide though.
  25. When I was down 90 lbs after my band surgery I went zip lining for the first time. Terrifyingly fantastic. lol
