  1. Well Im not really cheating.. I drink my Protein shakes like I should a week out. I make my 9 oz Protein shake and drink 3oz for Breakfast lunch and dinner.. and my Water . Still having trouble with plain water bc it hurts going down but at night I wake out of my sleep from hunger pains.. ive been sipping water to get me through the night but now its annoying.. So! I was told not to have fruits or veggies until a month out and I tested out a bite of mango and it did not bother me. So I blended a whole mango, filled with water a few ice cubes and a shot of light apple juice and its heaven!.. im sipping on some now before I go to bed and freeze for tomorrow night. Its just a little some thing to let me sleep through the night. If I can have sugar free juice why cant I make my own natural juice? Can anyone else stomach anything else besides shakes and water? I feel like this surgery isn't making me sick like alot of posts I see.. am I lucky? Lol

8 days post op cheater :/

9 oz shake with double the serving of protein. I forgot to add that. And the shakes are boring me.. im going to buy unflavored protein for my smoothies
  3. I think Im doing better than I thought I would. Ive been walking around as much as possible since the day of surgery (aug 6). I cant seem to get all the water in it literally seems impossible. Everytime I sip I hear it through my body and it even hurts a little going down. My stomach growls and burns but I really dont have an appetite so I ate a light yogurt. Im not going to lie, my family from out of town came over and cooked and I snuck a teaspoon of potato salad mashed it up as much as I could and chewed it as well.. I didnt get sick but felt full and satisfied. I need some options on what to consume besides protein shakes to get my protein in and how can I get all these damn fluids in.. uggh!
  4. Hey guys.. I know I have been gone for a while but Ive been wrapped up in between work and trying to get proper rest. Anyways this past Monday I finally got my surgery date.. August 18th! I wasnt expecting to have surgery until sometime in September bc my doctors assistant said my insurance required 6mos in nutritional counseling when it was really only 2! I guess she had my insurance plan mixed up (Empire Plan). But It doesn't hurt to have extra counseling. If I am cleared by my nutritionist I will have surgey Aug. 18 So! I am super nervous! Mainly because I never had surgery before in my life and have never been put to sleep so I'm having scary thoughts that I might wake up in the middle of surgery and feel it lol. Sounds crazy I know. And as time is getting closer and the limited support that I do have, im kind of freaking out. Im having my surgery at Westchester Medical in Hawthorne, Ny and my doctor is Anthony Maffaei. Im just looking for some encouragement and some pointers before surgery.. someone please help! Lol

Im not going to lie, Im having some mixed emotions but I keep checking out this forum, the gastric sleeve support group on facebook and instagram and continue to read about everyones success stories so I can feel more encouraged. Thank u! Best wishes to u too
  11. Where do you live? Ive been working with surgical intensivists in Hawthorne NY. As long as you dont gain massive amounts of weight prior to surgery and do your clearances they approve you. They seemed like a pretty easy process to me. Ive started my journey in February and Im getting sleeved next month by Dr. Anthony Maffei. Go to nygetfit.com OH and they only require 2 day liquid diet post op!
  12. Im due for surgery august 6th. I want to stock up on basic things I need to help me get through this preop postop liquid diet stafr. Can you guys throw a few ideas at me.. I need variety!!!! Also, is it ok for me to have canned liquid soup like tomato soup or like cream of chicken soup?
  13. So! I finally broke the ice and told my boss Im having surgery early August. I didnt tell him I was getting sleeved instead my dumb ass says I have a bad stomach ulcer. He was very understanding but at the end of the conversation he tells me to make sure on the doctors note it has a diagnosis since Im taking so much time off. Wtf! Now I feel dumb for lying I shouldve just said it was personal but in the same breath im like.. fuck it, if he finds out, he finds out. (Sorry for the profanity) but now im thinking doesnt that violate the HIPPA law? Do I really have to have a diagnosis or is he just being nosey? Input anyone?
  14. Hey recent sleevers lol! My surgery is next month and I would like u guys to help me out with a list of things I should stock up on to eat when I come home after surgery so I wont have to worry later. I hear alot about jellos, broth, water, pudding, but what else? I need variety and idk about broth. I hate broth

    lied about my surgery :/

Im using my paid sick time first. And beings that I already have an approved vacation for a few days after my surgery im going to use that towards the end of my recovering process.. but hopefully I have enough sick time to save my vacation. Not at all using personal
  19. Im mot a secretive person but I am a private person. I work doing direct care for mentally disabled individuals and the employees at my job love to have something to talk about. Im scheduled for Aug 18 (I just found this out this past week) so I know its time to tell my boss so he has ample time to find coverage for my shift. My boss got the lapband.. he didnt tell me that I just heard through the grapevine. I really dont want to tell him what I plan on doing only because he has sat and talked about other employees & their business to me, so I dont want him to have any info on me to gossip about. Its funny bc you would think it would be easier to talk to your boss who has also gotten weight loss surgery.. but its not my case. I just need some ideas of what I should tell him without going into detail. I know I will let it be known that its personal. Also, what does your guys doctor notes say? Will it say I am getting weight loss surgery? Helo!
  20. Amarie812

what do I tell my boss?

Thank you everybody for your responses. I understand that in the first few months that I lose majority if my weight it will become kind of ibviius.. but I already been showing signs of dieting so maybe ppl will still just mind their business lol.
  21. I haven't had surgery yet.. but im still educating myself about the whole life changing experience. I watched a youtube video where this one woman said you have to inject yourself 2xs a day for the first 7days after surgery. Is this true? I am not good with needles at all and just want to know if anyone else has to do this
