Gosh Im Nervous!
As far as I have read and although I had the lap-band, it is normal to have doubt's, but even though I am only 8 weeks post op...I am happy I made this choice. You will be too I promise...I so know my joints (knee replacements) only with 29lbs off of them feel better. I just need to get into the habit of exercising...then I know I will feel even better then. Hang in there and move forward with your decision, you'll feel so much better!!! I have a friend that had the gastric sleeve and she looks wonderful!!! You will too!!!

I think everyone (or at least I think) felt really concerned right before they had their surgery. I am only 8 weeks post op (Lap-Band), but feel so much better and am thankful I made this decision. You will too!!! You'll be surprised with how you will handle food a few weeks out about food and your choices. Hang in there sweetie...you can do this and will be so much happier!!!

Possible leak
I find that I can eat more than I thought I could as well...but I could only eat 1 thin slice the other day. I agree with everyone here and check in with your doctor. That way even if there isn't a problem happening with your band you will feel better just knowing. Hang in there Tpenny90!!!

Chili
I haven't tried any restaurant chili, but I have made my own and have had no problem...I am a little over 8 weeks out and like mine spicy as well and with oyster crackers and enjoyed a small bowl two days in a row. Didn't even do the puree stage stuff...grossed me out...LOLRH!!! So when I was able I did go ahead and made some and tried it with a back-up food in reserve just in case! It stayed down with no problem. Some can tolerant certain foods while others can't-hope you can enjoy chili though...really good protein food. Best wishes!!!

Anyone having trouble with friends?
Jealousy is an ugly green-eyed monster and it sounds like your friend is acting that way right now. She could be feeling you pull away from her that might be hurting her and she doesn't know how to handle it...so she is using eating and drinking as an excuse. Maybe lay low for awhile and just let her vent, if she is worth keeping you will stand your ground, but let her know that food and drinking is not the way to friendship. Let her know you would like her along side of you on this journey (your surgery), but you will understand if she doesn't feel she can be there for you. Sometimes we have to let go of people who are as you said are sabotaging you. Hang in there sweetie...it will be okay...stay strong and look forward to your future!

Could use some help
I wish to thank everyone for your comments and suggestions, they are great! It is good to know that I am where I should be and there is a light at the end of the tunnel (alittle farther down the road). It is good to have a resource to turn too...you all are wonderful!!! As for the shakes I don't get to see a nutritonist until the 10th of April (my next fill)...so I am just doing what the NP's in my doctors office tell me, they have had this surgery as well...and even after many years still drink shakes. I don't drink them with my meals but as a meal, just for clarification. I don't drink anything with my meal, stop drinking 30 minutes before and 30/45 minutes after. Thanks again everyone...this site is a great place to get answers.

Needs some suggestions please
Okay today I am 8 weeks out from being banded (3/16/14), I have had one fill of 2 cc's and am trying really hard to stay on track with what I am eating. But I am having some concerns about am I eating too much at one time...because I am not feeling full. I eat Protein first and am trying to slow down how fast I eat (really hard for me though), eat veggies then fruits and trying really hard to stay away from carbs. Have found I have really a hard time with steak, so staying away from it. I don't feel full...but do feel like I get food stuck no matter how much I chew. So if you all could please give me some pointers on how to slow down and some suggestions also as far as exercise goes-since I have had both knee's replaced and they are sore most of the time (I suppose because of my weight still). I have lost 29 lbs so far, but feel I should have lost more by now. HELP!!! Thanks for any ideas or suggestions as to what to do or not do to help me move forward. I know that I probably am expecting way more than I should be in just this short of time, but am concerned-I'm not progressing as well as I should be!!! Thanks again.

Could use some help
I was hoping someone could let me know if something is normal. I had my first fill on 2/27/14 it was for 2 cc's, but I don't feel like it has done anything. I think I might be eating too much or maybe too fast. First of all I seem to beable to eat more than I was before the fill and now I have difficulity keeping what I am eating in-sometimes? Am I eating to fast? Am I eating the wrong foods? Am I eating at the wrong time of day? I tried some steak the other day and it didn't work well with me. I am just so frustrated. The nurse practioner said she thought I wasn't getting enough Protein so I am probably still hungry...suggested protein bar-ugh they taste terrible, but will do what I have to-to get this weight off. However, I have only lost 26 lbs and feel like I'm stuck already, was banded on 1/16/14. Getting really disappointed!!! Help please!!!

Band date 3/18/14
hello alittlenervous...congrats on your choice...I know that I was nervous too before my surgery, but it was a breeze. I too know you will have a lot of questions after surgery, so feel free to update us on your progress and hopefully we will be able to help you out. Take care and best wishes!!!

Pretty discouraged
Red Bird I am so sorry to hear about your aftercare. I would continue to try to contact the slimBand group and insist on someone responding to you. Not sure what the Dr. Yau issue is, but that shouldn't allow them to treat a paying patient the lack of care that is needed after surgery. You hang in there and vent whenever you like. I am apparently very lucky with my surgeons office they are great people. I have only had my band since 1/16/14 and have one fill of 2 cc's...but am looking forward to my next visit-since I am sure 2 cc's is not enough for me. So I will be on the lookout for a follow-up post saying they finally got you in and are helping you. Take care and prayers!!!

Does Banding Work if you're over 50?
Hey 50ish ladies...I am only about 8 weeks out and am having issues with eating to fast it seems, any suggestions? Or is it merely I shouldn't eat in the mornings? It seems no matter what I try to eat in the mornings I have difficulities with? It is frustrating!!! Thanks for some pointers!!!

How Many Calories Should We Eat After Having Lap Band Surgery?
I'm concerned with this also...I just got a 2 cc fill last week and I seem like I can eat more than I should be able to...what is wrong with me? Shouldn't I be full after a few bites?

Does Banding Work if you're over 50?
This series of questions and answers was done way back in 2008 and some up to 2013 and I had been banded since 1/16/14 and I am 57 (almost) so I am only 6 weeks post-op and have lost 24 lbs so far...first fill is tomorrow...2/27/14 and am sure that I am going to lose all the weight I need to lose. It's all in how you eat and try to get some exercise in there too...walking will be my favorite thing to do.
