  1. After WLS I am proud of my stamina and my self control. Also I am proud of myself for changing my mind set about food. I use to love to eat and made eating my hobby. And now, I eat to live and prefer doing others things in life like loving myself, taking control of my body and my life and loving the new me. I never thought I would get this far and I am so proud of myself. My family has been the biggest support and I am grateful for that. Friends are there but they don't understand me fully. I have to actually explain them the anatomy and physiology of what has happened internally. Also I am very proud of getting the RNY and I love to educate people about it. People have misconceptions and they think this is lyposuction. So I actually love to teach people about it and they get it that this is not easy and it's a lifestyle change.

    question about myfitnesspal

I love MFP and use it daily. I have mine set as: Carbs 70grams 35% Proteins 70grams 35% Fat 27 grams 30% I think it's different for everyone depending on their height and weight. I don't eat bread, rice, Pasta, Cookies, cakes or anything sweet. I also don't drink milk. I do have soy or add cream to my coffee time to time.
  3. I would have a bite and that's pretty much it. I went to my friends baby shower a few months back and I had a bite and didn't want anymore. My body and taste buds have changed a lot. So I am satisfied with a little amounts of it. I used to be a foodie and now my relationship has changed with food. I eat to live and not live to eat.
  4. I started at 14/16 and now I am 8/10 and I am 4.5 months out. I would love to be 4/6 or even 2. So far I am happy. Can't complain but be grateful to God!

    Question for the ladies

Just saw that you are one of my friends. Btw you look fab! Keep up the good work
  6. I think it's important to count calories and the protein intake. If you are eating more than you need to, you won't lose weight. For me it works to program everything I eat on mfp. Even my nut and surgeon said to stay on 800-1000 calories a day and 60-80 grams of protein. And also have a diary so you can see what works and what doesn't. Also it makes you accountable and also helps you cut out your bad habits. Good luck!

    Question for the ladies

It's ok to have it time to time but all in moderation. But try to eat proteins to fill yourself so you don't go for the bad carbs when you have cravings. Hope this helps.'btw are you on mfp?

    Wanting icecream

The reason why I said sorry was because I didn't read the part that person just had their surgery recently. I think it's ok to have things in moderation but if you think eating something will trigger you to eat more than don't eat it. Very simple. I have never in my life have ever finished a tub of ice cream nor know anyone in person that has. For me my problem was making unhealthy choices. 4 months out I do treat myself to things I enjoy like an ice cream sandwich that's made by weight watchers or skinny cow. Now do I eat lots of them in ones sitting? No! Do I eat one every day? Hmm no! And do I eat it once a week? Yes at times. But I don't deprive myself from it. This is not a diet but a lifestyle change. You know your body more than anyone. So if you think if you eat something and would want more than either learn how to control yourself or don't touch it at all. It's all about checks and balances.

    Eating out?

I do eat out time to time but I always get an appetiser or share a meal with a friend. Just yesterday I was finally able to get a salad down but it has to be spinach. I can't handle lettuce. But my preference is to eat at home. If I get an entree which I did at chilis I ordered from their low fat stuff and got the tilapia and said no starch just beans and lots of then with the fish. That meal lasted for 3-4 days. I also eat a lot of soups and chilli when I am outside.

    Wanting icecream

You are right there is no ice cream in the early stages. I didn't read that part early on...my bad! Sorry!

    Progress ☺️

Biotin is a b vitamin, b7. I started to take sublingual ones today that I got from amazon. I was reading about it and they say that there is not a lot of evidence if biotin helps with hair and nails. Either way I am trying out to see if it works for me...

    Salads

So I had a salad yesterday at panera and asked them to replace lettuce with spinach and matter of fact I was able to digest it without having pains like I do with lettuce. So that being said, I am staying away from lettuce for sure. My friends finally convinced me to have a salad cause they said that spinach will help bring my iron levels up. So those who are struggling with salad like myself, try spinach and drop lettuce. It's too fibrous. Hope this helps!

    Question for the ladies

My menstrual cycle had been awful. Sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't cause of my iron levels being low. I also need to take iron regularly and that's another issue. I don't have crazy cravings like I used to have when I get my period plus my body doesn't crave carbs either. I just eat what I normally eat which is proteins. My appetite does go up though for sure compared to non period days. So I just eat more proteins and don't touch the carbs. Best advice is to eat more proteins so you can stay full longer and not crave the carbs. Also what kind of carbs do you crave or even have in your diet? I don't eat bread, pasta, rice, or sweets. I have had like a few small potatoes since my surgery 4 months back and they don't work well with me. Even with fruits I have small amounts like blueberries or cherries and sometimes bananas with my shake.

    Wanting icecream

I am not afraid to be honest. My trigger food are sweets but I do have it time to time in moderation. I don't even have such cravings to be honest. Last night I was out and my friend ordered flan and I wouldn't touch it but my friend kept insisting to try and I had one bite and I stopped. I didn't like it too much cause it was too sweet for me. And with ice cream I was never too crazy about it before and even now I am not too crazy about it. If I crave it, I get the skinny cow or weight watchers ice cream. I like puddings but just the other day I found this Chobani indulgent mint yogurt with chocolate chips and I had one serving and it was good and it was healthy. But if you put chili or dessert in front of me, I will def eat chili and fill up and never get to the dessert. So everything in moderation is the key!

    is anyone tired?

I am 4 months out and I am always tired. It's non stop. I come home and crash. I am a bit lazy with my nutrients. But I do have a sublingual b12 everyday. My iron is def low and that also causes fatigue. I wish I could just get the b12 and iron shots and be good. I think I am going to talk to my surgeon because it's getting harder to function.

Want To Get Back On Track

I am curious to know what is everyone eating when they are gaining all their weight back? What's your daily intake? How many calorie are you eating a day? What's your protein intake?

    Big Decision

Keep in mind dumping only happens to about 20-30% people. I did a few times in my first month and since then it has not happened. Plus I don't eat sweets to get to that point. There are stats out there to give you the accurate percentage of how many people actually experience dumping. Some don't ever get it. Good luck!

    hospital stay

You are def going to be miss your kid but don't worry you will be in and out in no time. It totally sucked when I had my period but later found out that a lot of women get it right on the day of their surgery or the day before. I was on a 10 day liquid diet before my surgery so I think at probably due to that and body changing. I will be praying for you and your quick recovery. If you need any help let me know.

    Making big, life decisions

My ex and I ended a 3.5 yr relationship, I had my surgery 3 months later, got a job 1.5 month after my surgery and I feel great. Life should not be put on hold. Have to do what makes you happy. It's only one life to live..so live it up! I don't know much about marriage cause I have never been down the road but being in 3.5 live in relationship became toxic after sometime and initially I was like what the heck but with time, I realize how important it was to take care of me. Cause for me I am number one and everything else is secondary.

    hospital stay

I stayed 3 nights because my surgery was schedule for the afternoon and it didn't happen until 5. And that was a Monday and was discharged on a Thursday afternoon. I could not wait to get out of the hospital. I think it all depends on the surgery and when you also pass gas. I also had my period the day of my surgery

    Progress ☺️

I completely understand the hair loss cause mine is really bad. I am 4 months out and I am 53 pounds down. Was 210 and now I am 157. I am also lazy with pills. But my doc said that I have to Iron cause the hair loss is a sign of anemia. My blood results did confirm that 2 months back. In the morning I take multi Vitamin and b12 sublingual. Multi vitamin I have chewable Centrum and also chewable women's from GNC. Either of them I take depending on my mood. During the day, I take Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate. At night I take flax seed oil, bariatric advantage calcium citrate, protonix, b12 drops, Fiber gummies, multi vitamin centrum. I also take gentle iron 25mg which doesn't make me constipated. I just ordered Biotin so I am going to add that as well. I think I will have to increase my iron. I also take a weekly Vit D. The other thing is that I am not a big fan of chewies cause they are just too sweet and it's hard to get it down. And pills are a pain to get it down but I rather choose the pills then the chewies cause sweets I can't handle too much. My regiment might not be the greatest but some others here in this forum have a great set up. I would love to also see what others take. Hope this helps!

    No food feels good

    No food feels good

I am 4 months out with RNY and still struggle a lot with food. They have to be moist or I can't eat. Chicken has been very hard for me unless it's super moist and soft and shredded. Steak I can sometimes tolerate it if it's tender and if it's not, forget about it. And with eggs I get the egg beaters and they work but regular eggs are hard at times. Beans are my fav....I make chili and eat that often. Don't worry you are not alone. It gets better in time.

    Protein Shakes

I love protein shakes also. My fav is gnc total lean 25 grams of protein. I have also had muscle milk on the go which is decent. I have also tried pure protein shakes on the go and they are good. And I had core power protein also and that didn't taste good. Also I add pb2 to my shakes and they taste really good.
