Hi, I had mine done on the 15th and thank God, No Gas! PSBC is an outpatient clinic but they keep the C-pap patients overnight, so I stayed. I was surprised how little pain whenever I was awake. Now that I am home I have to make sure I keep my schedule for the pain med. I am very forgetful so I will have to start writing it down. I have been getting lots of Protein from the Isopure clear for the first 2 days, I was allowed Jello but it wouldn't go down even though i was straining it through my teeth. Today I went shopping with my husband to find the liquid Tylenol for adults and could only find it at Walgreen, their house brand. I want to get off the dopey train during the day. I am drinking Protein Shakes and Nectars so I am getting almost 100 gram of protein.
I have pain around the hernia repair and the large incision where the remove the stomach, its bearable. I just bought some Probiotics and started taking it to help with regularity, its been a while.
Im not sure if I should have asked first but I will Monday.
I am still glad I did it. I gained but I know its Water so I'm not too worried.
To those that didn't do it yet, its not so bad. You can ride the carts at the store, its kind of fun. Good luck!
By the way I am dopey writing this and may forget i did.

Hi. I still think of all of you. I miss you! School is killing me. But I love it too. Anyhoo, I got my very first "cat call" and it wasn't from my husband. And it felt kinda nice.
I also got another thing like that too. I went to pick up my son, and while waiting, this guy kept coming into the room, and it wasn't to talk to the kids. It made me feel kinda sexy, though I don't know how to do that anymore. Besides, I'm very happily married.
Definety, a mood and moral booster! Yay.

ButterflySlim reacted to MelBooks in Sleeved April 9th! Here's my recap!
Yesterday was my surgery. I had a check in time of 12:00 noon. I was very thirsty, as you can imagine! They brought my husband and I back and we worked on some paperwork and the final pre-op weigh in, I was down about 30 pounds since I started with this doctor last June. 13 pounds were from the pre-op diet alone. I also got a huge heparin shot in my leg to prevent clotting and an anti-nausea patch behind my ear.
The hospital was running a bit late (they kept apologizing) but brought me to the OR at 1:45. I was having some anxiety laying on the table, but the put me under very quickly. Next thing I knew, I was awake and the nurses were asking how I was doing. I remember replying "Hot, thirsty, nauseous." I'm not sure how it all happened, but the next thing I knew, I was in the big hospital recliner with a bottle of Water to sip and a fan pointed right at me! I felt much better at that point. They wanted me to get up pretty soon after that. Walking was not at all a pain, but I was having trouble focusing my eyes. My DH was there too, and he sent out some texts to the family that I was all done. I passed out at that point.
The rest of the evening kind of went on that way: sip, sip, sip, walk, doze off. I listened to music and podcasts to help keep my mind at ease. DH had to leave to help out with the kids at home. I had my surgery at a stand alone bariatric hospital, and there was only one other patient there overnight. My abdomen was a bit sore but not too painful. However, my right shoulder was. Luckily I had brought a heating pad that is helping A LOT. I asked for chicken broth, but before I could try it, I had a dry-heave thing. The nurses waved some alcohol wipes under my nose and that helped it to stop. I waited a bit longer till it had totally passed to try anything else.
At abut 5 this morning, the nurses got me up and dressed. I did some more walking and sipping. I had to really play around with the sipping. Too little and I think I was swallowing too much air which was VERY uncomfortable in the esophagus area. To much and my tummy kind of spasmed. Around 7, I had to go back for the barium swallow/X-Ray which was AWFUL. Apparently, the liquid is having a hard time moving into my stomach (refluxing) and is kind of just sitting in my esophagus. She also saw a big air bubble sitting in the top of the stomach. That sort of explains why swallowing has been (and is still) very uncomfortable. Not painful, but really strange feeling.
At that point, my husband returned and I got discharged to come home. I'm still having the weird feeling in my esophagus. My surgeon said the swelling there should go down in a day or so. But other than the general discomfort, nothing super acute has been bothering me. I think I might feel a smidge worse tomorrow.
I've been drink Water, Vitamin Water Zero (the lemonade is good and not too sweet, the mixed berry is good too) and some warm chicken broth. I am trying to take it all slowly. The weather is really sunny day, so I may even take a little walk outside!
Please let me know if you have any questions about the surgery, my background or even the pre-op diet!

I've been walking since my surgery last August (at the time I weighed 300 - started at 343). I am now down to 199 and honestly, I am JUST seriously starting to look into gym memberships now. It took a long time to get to where I don't feel awkward or too heavy for exercise, and it had also taken quite a bit for me to restore my sense of balance, post surgery. I do feel ready in all areas now though and am looking forward to developing back some muscle mass.

Not unheard of, I start a pre op diet 2 weeks before mine. I will be drinking a shake called Optifast, it will shrink my liver and the fat around my liver to make it easier for the surgeon. That is as amazing gift to you Hun, a new life starting at 40 for you . My pre op is tomorrow and they're also going to be checking my gallbladder so it's going to be a long day, I'm nervous about the tube they are going to put down my throat, I will be sedated though

I am 8 days out and doing great. One or two stories about a bad experience does not outweigh the hundreds of thousands of positive stories. I would not change my decision for anything. Your going to die someday if it's your time it's your time. Don't be afraid it's really not to bad. Yes there are down sides. Death is the last thing you should be thinking about.

I hit the 100 lbs down mark yesterday March 30, 2014! I am so happy & excited about it. My surgery date was July 18, 2013 & I weighed 321 lbs when I began my journey & recently found out the day of surgery I was 314 lbs but the day I came home from the hospital I was 321 lbs again so that is what I go by. Yesterday I weighed in at 221 LBS!!!
I had been praying that I would hit my biggest goal by my birthday & I made it a week early! My birthday is next sunday & i will be 34!!! This is the most awesome birthday gift I could ever give to myself!
I feel so much better in all areas of my life. I am healthier & down to a weight I have not seen since I was about 16 yrs old.
This weight loss journey not only changed my weight but my life! I have started going back to school to get my GED & then hoping to start a nursing program or something in the medical field after I accomplish my GED! I am more social & go out of my way to speak to people now as well! I have become more outgoing like I used to be when I was younger!
I have been struggling some mentally & emotionally. I have began to feel like a stranger is looking back at me in the mirror & have been told I am in a way grieving my "fatter" self. I know that it will pass & I have called & made an appointment with a therapist who specializes in the weight loss journey, so I know I will be ok & it will take time just as this whole journey does!
A friend of mine just passed away last week from cancer & her support motto was always one day at a time, one foot in front of the other & she would always say that to me as well when I began my weight loss journey & so I will continue to follow her advice & keep moving forward one step at a time!!!
In the pictures below I was 8 mths & 1 wk po & weighed 228 lbs so I have lost another 7 lbs since last tuesday which makes my total 100 LBS!

A little ones but important to me:
    1) I am able to go downstairs step by step alternating my legs and feet, no one step at a time like I use to do because my knee was starting to hurt.
    2) The malicious/naughty look of my husband while telling me "wow, you are loosing weight for real".
    I'm so happy !

OMG the list could go on and on for most of us I am sure:
    - Right now wearing a XL shirt with horizontal stripes and feeling good
    - Seeing my collar bones, which made me feel good cutting all my hair off short.
    - Down three sizes in jeans
    - Crossing my legs
    - Running in softball and not always getting out cause I am so slow
    - Not getting out of breath doing the stairs
    - Buying clothes from regular stores, not plus size
    - Not afraid to leave food on a plate
    - Fitting in between equipment at work and being able to tie my isolation gown in the front (almost): I am a nurse
The list goes on and on.... I Love my band and although we have rough days I wouldn't change a thing!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day, and remember even the small things mean so much to us.... and not always the number on the scale!

Had mine done . Dr. Called me at home to come in for another test. I was terrified. I asked why and they said the dr didn't like the results of one of my test. I went back in and the dr said that I had had a heart attack in my past. Dr cleared me for surgery. Sleeved July 11th at 217lbs I am now 7 lbs from my goal of 130. This surgery was amazing!!! Wishing you all the best!!!
