  1. Im sorry you had to revise...I was originally going for the band & my surgeon advised against it in regards to long term results. I then went with sleeve but my reflux is too bad (after EGD). Now I've accepted bypass. Thanks much for your input & heads up on insurance!
  2. August 12 so I'll be watching yall! Lol
  3. Same here...did you have Barretts?
  4. Great stuff...Im totally taking notes! I got the new PIYO workout...its no impact so I can't get too crazy presurgery. But the walking sounds like a necessity & I'll take heed and do that in order to get back to PIYO. What about certain products....is there any vitamins etc...that you found later that you wish you knew of beforehand?
  5. It haunts you because you never paid a "farewell" to certain foods & you want them now?
  6. My surgery is one month away...if YOU knew then, what you know now...what would you do differently?
  7. I mentioned a ninja to my NUT and mixing food into liquid form and she said as your body heals its best not to make your kidneys work so hard breaking down all the nutrients. Hope that helps you explore a new avenue of reasoning.
  8. Happy to see this! I have a desk job as well & ive been worried about that. I also have a hiatal hernia & i think hes taking my gallbladder out too. I wonder if that will add to recovery time.
  9. So very happy for you....I love the positivity!!!
  10. I dont know yet either...my preop appt is towards the end of July. Im a little nervous about it. I can read post after post and still feel clueless on what to expect.
  11. Lol @ nervousness description...sounds like a match! You'll be just ahead of me so you can go first! ???? do you know how long your preop diet is yet?
  12. Yay! Im the following week! I'll be hawking your updates rooster!
  13. The date is set...Aug 12th! Its been 7 months since my first appt...and here I am, scared, nervous and so excited. I'll be having hernia repair, bypass and gallbladder taken out in one shot. Anyone who had anything similar to those procedures, I'm super interested to hear of your recovery and how long before returning to work (though I realize everyone is different). I would love to buddy up with someone!
  14. I have lost a lot of weight before as many of us have...I actually became bitter because i was treated so differently. Why am I ok to talk to now? I'm the same person I was before? I don't get it. An associate even told me "I liked you better when you were fat" after turned him down. Its amazing how different 1. People see you, and 2. How you're treated. I like to think Im older and wiser now and my truth now? I could give 2 $#@ts what anyone says or thinks. Their opinion is none of my business, just as my decisions are none of theirs. I'm days away from my insurance approval and ready to set my surgery date. Im ready and waiting. I will have no bitterness this time around...only happiness for my health and quality of life. Im not aiming to please anyone but myself & if my friends and family are with me...all the better. If not, life has a way of working itself out. I wish everyone the best and to embrace happiness instead of reaction. This is my plan.
  15. Okay how many gastric bypass procedures are there anyway?
  16. Thank you so much for sharing! I have definitely come to the conclusion of bypass. Its best. I just need to do everything right to avoid dumping (it terrifies me). And with some luck, complications from surgery will be minimal...I'll be set. *Fingers crossed
  17. I'll get bypass... just need to prepare for it now...
  18. How right you are...i love this forum. The more i read here, the more sense your above statement makes. I am 4 months in...i cant turn back. Just scared of the unknown i think.
  19. Tough decision...just discovering a barret from the egd has my doc recommending the bypass. Im not a bypass fan however. I never ever want to experience dumping and my herniated disk from years ago has anti-inflammatory needs im not so certain i can handle those spasms in my upper back without nsaids. Im unsure of what to do as well. I never even realized till recently that I even had acid reflux.
  20. What is your GI history? Just curious...i want the sleeve but with a recent barrett discovery, the doc is recommending bypass.
  21. Ok...whats a PPI? (I dont have all my acronyms down)
  22. I didnt even realize i had reflux until after the egd. Thanks for being a straight shooter...your feedback is appreciated!
