Research and find another surgeon that does the DS. My first surgeon told me to stay home and have the sleeve. Naw! Wasn't an option. Find someone else. He probably has never done the DS before.

Stop counting calories! You malabsorb fat so when you don't get enough, you get constipated. You need to lube the machine.
-
For a DSer, you should increase your fat intake, check to ensure you're drinking enough fluids and watching your carb intake.

Welcome!!!

Congrats and good luck.

Research is key. Check out dsfacts.com and vita lady for vites.

Thank you!! I'm on it. I spoke with Jim for 30 minutes today and I can email him any further concerns that I have.
You are doing awesome, and I appreciate comments from the vets.

I'm further south in the Hollywood area. Looking for a good support group. Surgery out of town.

Thanks for your input. I will consider it and speak with him to fully understand his reasoning. I am terrified of not losing.

Awesome.
Best wishes for continued success in your recovery.

Well I'm fighting for a maximum of 125, but I'd prefer 100. I am never having another surgery

He only does 150 length. Period. He doesn't do the Hess method at all, but says it prevents too much malabsorption.

I'm scheduled for my DS on 1/15, after a year long process. My surgeon recently told me he's limiting cc length to 150 to prevent serious malabsorption. Does that make sense to anyone ? My BMI is 50 and I don't agree with him and willing to put up a fight.

Good info. Keep doing your research and make the best decision for You. Also, go to www.dsfacts.com for additional info on the DS.

Marie, what are you doing eating Pasta, bread and chips? Those are definite no nos especially this early out. I'm surprised that your system tolerates that and sugar with no issues.
