  1. I'm hoping some of you guys can help me. I'm in the early stages. I have my first appt on March 24. I have already sent my insurance info into the Dr.s office. The lady there said that the total process should only take 4-6 Weeks then I would be ready for surgery. I'm wanting to have it on May 13 so my son will be out of school. I plan on taking off work until memorial day then working 1 day then off to go to a concert- one I have been waiting my whole life for (DOLLY PARTON!!!) I'm just worried I won't feel well enough to stand in line and stand thru the concert. What do you guys think?

Yes! That is what my motto is going to be. You should eat food to substain you, not make you happy.

    concert 16 days after surgery?

Mine is humana. There are 2 other girls that work with me in different departments that have had it done recently. It really is that quick. One went for her first appt on Jan. 13 & is having surgery the last Thursday in March. My cousin's took 6 months because of her insurance.

    Tasting Room - Protein Drinks

Just went on Amazon to look up syntrax. Boy am I glad you started this thread. Did not realize how high Protein products were. It's fine to pay that much if you like something, but I hate the thought of wasting money trying stuff.
  12. You got this! Can't wait to hear about how great surgery went and how skinny you are getting. I know I will be a nervous wreck before mine too. But just remember, it is sooo worth it!

    Tasting Room - Protein Drinks

Love this post! I'm just starting out on my weight loss journey and this is one of the main things I worry about. I am so picky, and I'm afraid I won't be able to find many things I can choke down. Does anyone know of protein drinks that are fruit flavored like orange, grape, or punch?
  14. All you ladies having surgery tomorrow, good luck!! Prayers for safe surgery! So excited for you guys! We can't wait to hear all about it

Will I be a slow loser?

Sandee, that's what I worry about too! I've seen posts on here where people were losing fast and those that lose slow. I don't want to be a slow loser.

    My story

Hi everybody. I just wanted to say that I love this site! Everyone is so helpful and has so much knowledge and info. I'm just getting started on my weight loss journey and have been trying to soak up as much as I can on these forums. Here's a little bit about me. I'm 34. I have an amazing husband who loves me unconditionally. I've got one little perfect boy who is 9. I just started looking into the gastric sleeve a couple of weeks ago. I am going to the informational seminar on March 6 and have my first doctors appt scheduled for March 24. When I talked to the insurance lady at the drs office she said with my insurance it should only take 4-6 weeks until surgery. SO I am both very excited and very nervous because that time will fly by. That is why I am so thankful for this forum. I have always been heavy. My whole life. Right before I turned 30 I started taking phenteramin(sp?), dieted, and stared walking. I lost 140lbs in a 1 1/2. It wad the most amazing feeling. But I got cocky thinking I could do it all by myself and lazy and let the old habits slip back in. so now I have gained it all back but the last 25lbs. I realize now that losing/keeping the weight off is a head game. I can't do it all by myself. I am finally ready to have a healthy relationship with food. I'm ready to take back control of my life and not let food rule it. I miss that confident person I was for that small amount of time. I'm ready to be happy with myself on the inside and out. Food should be something I rely on to live, not rely on to make me happy.

New here, with a few questions!

Hey Morgan. I'm starting out on this new journey too. Although I don't have answers for some of your other questions, I do have a little info on the loose skin question. About 4 years ago I lost 140 in about a year or year & half with a diet drug, diet, & exercise (you see how well that worked out. lol) One of my biggest problems was loose skin on my stomach (so gross) and my arms. I talked to my doctor and the only thing he could suggest was having surgery to have it removed. When I get skinny this time (skinny! I can't wait!), I am going to really consider doing that. It sucks to put in all that time and work to get small, but still not be able to wear sizes as small as you should because of all that skin.

Hello- I have a few questions.

Hey Lisa. Like you I am just starting out. I go for the seminar on March 6 and have my first appt with the Dr. in March 24. The insurance lady at the Dr.s office told me for my insurance it should only be 4-6 Weeks after my initial appt before I have my surgery as long add test and everything goes ok. I do think the amount if time depends on insurance. My cousin had to wait 5 months to get her sleeve. This is my first post on here, but I have been coming home everyday after work and reading everyone else's post. This is an awesome place to find all kinds of wonderful information. I love it.
