Dr. Prachard university of chicago hospitals

After your evaluation Dr. Prachard and team go over ALL of your records including physc eval. They decide if your medical conditions meet the criteria for the procedure and then they send you a letter of acceptance or not and the recommended procedure within 3 weeks. However, the approval of the procedure is solely up to your insurance and their requirements that approval can take up to 30 days after you meet them whether it be a 2,3 or six months monitoring of nutrition BEFORE your approved. My entire process was approximately 8 months. I am now as of today 2 weeks post op???? good luck to you on your journey and acceptance

    Frustrated. PreOp diet

I understanding your pain and frustration. I had a difficult time during my preop stage as well and my mother asked me to cook a full fledge meal one evening! My hubby told me not to worry about dinner but to make myself have will power, I ended up cooking, turkey chops, rice and vegetables for them then went to bed. I'm happy to say that I made it through and you will too! I am now as of today 1 week post op! Good luck on your new life's journey.

    Pre-op diet...... Destroyed!

@@tlemieux220 thanks for your encouragement! I am now 6 days post op and here to encourage the pre ops!! If I can do it, YOU can do it!! The struggle is real and you will have some good and bad days! I really had to focus and rethink. I stayed in the hospital 4days because of uncontrollable hypertension and nausea, I couldn't keep anything down and the incision pain was almost unbearable for me. Everyone has a different WLS journey and I'm not here to sugarcoat mine. However, I can honestly say that it does get better everyday. Now, I'm suffering the gas pains that I feel is worse than labor.... This too shall pass. I wish you much success on your journey, keep your eyes on the healthy benefits prize????

@@Theresa Alvarado, your story was heartwarming! You had a major setback and you're still a fighter, don't let depression deter you from your ultimate goal and what you're working so hard for!! I wish you approval and much success in your journey! As you might've figured out, I DID IT!!???? it was difficult with every thought however, I pressed my way! This post op side is no walk on the beach though and my hospital stay was 4 days! I can tell you that it gets better. I'm super sore at the stomach removal incision and the gas pains are far beyond labor????

OMG!! Thank you @@JamieLogical for these outstanding recipes!!
  10. Hey all!???? I was sleeved 9/26/14. I was released from the hospital on 9/30 because of uncontrollable hypertension and not being able to keep anything down, I was restless and couldn't sleep good at all. I have no energy and was given a nausea patch behind my ear. Today is better I still can't sleep extremely sore at the one incision however, I am able to keep fluids and puréed 2oz chilli down so far..... Haven't had a BM and crushed meds are horrible! I can't say as of yet, that I'm glad I did it.......

    Pre-Op Jitters

@@auntiemel if it makes you feel better, I'm prepped right now waiting for my stroll down the hall. My surgeon just left out the room answering all of my pre-op jitter questions! He says a leak is less than 1%, it's no easy way out to have WLS but it is hard work afterwards, walk as much as possible afterwards, stick to the plan and you'll be fine. After seeing him with the scrubs and glasses on coming down to check on me and answer questions before the O.R., and a prayer, I'm ok. You got this!! If I can do it, you can do it! I'm as jittery as it gets!????????
  12. I'm here at the hospital with my husband by my side in the waiting area. I was emailed yesterday to be here at 9:30am the original time was 11:30 because my surgery isn't scheduled till 12:55..... Maybe something changed. I'm not as nervous as I was. It's now or never.... I believe that if God didn't permit this day for me, I wouldn't have been approved by my insurance so with that being said, 2nd Timothy 1:7 states that God hath not given us the spirit of fear but of love and of a sound mind. I'm going in with this scripture and the prayers of my husband, grandma, mom and a few others that I've shared my new life's journey with. I'll be posting with y'all on the post-op side in a little while!! ????*excited????

  15. I have less than 24 hours until I'm sleeved! I can honestly say that as the day is going by, hunger headache is kicking in from liquid no food. Today was my last day at work for 4 weeks (not that it matters, in there for an hour) and now anxiety and nervousness is controlling my thoughts of the unknown yet, I can actually picture myself healthy and fit! On another note, my mom asked me to cook fried turkey chops with rice and corn, imagine that!????I told my husband and he said baby don't worry about cooking, I know what you're going through, I fix something up....❤️my mind is a wreck! What did you post-oppers do the day before?
