  1. You look great! Thank you so much for the info! I do know I'll have to meet with a nutritionist 3 times. They told me that we're looking at either January or February for surgery . So excited to see what things are like after. I hope I have as much success as you!

Thank you Best decision I ever made and I'm sure that you will be very successful it's all about lifestyle change good luck maybe February 3 that was my lucky day

  2. The process was pretty quick I went to the free orientation then they scheduled me for an intake appointment. I had to go to classes for learning about food and how to eat with a nutritionist I had to see a psychologist so I had one appointment then and then I went into Dr. Sonnastine's office they took my picture gave us all the paperwork and then they scheduled my surgery I have lost a total of 115 pounds have never felt better and I've maintained my weight for the last almost 2 years

  3. Congrats! I am in the beginning stages of WLS and go for my group orientation Sept 27 at The McConnell Heart Center and Dr. Rana is going to be doing my surgery. If you don't mind can you share the process that you went through in this program? I have so many questions lol. You said no preoperative diet, is that typical for this program? What was the post-op care like? I'm sorry for so many questions, but I've read a lot of other stories, but looking for one specific for the hospital I am going through.

    Thanks@

I'm pretty sure that's the same office I go to it's 3773 Olentangy River Rd. they have the surgery done in Riverside Hospital am I correct

  4. Waiting for this in Ohio. I would love to be involved

    Any in Chicago?

I would like to start a support group in the area codes of 614 and 740 such as Franklin, Fairfield, Licking and surrounding counties. If anyone is interested please get with me. I live in Lancaster Ohio but I am not opposed to driving to another county or area for a Meeting once or twice a month at a local restraunt etc to share ideas, recipes stores would be a great way to stay motivated and on track. Hopeing to hear from a lot of you.

  5. Okay.. here goes. I am three months post op and today marked my 50 lb loss since I started this journey. I am sooooooo happy with the success and love my new lifestyle. I am more energetic and just getting started. The picture with the blue top was a little over a year ago and the one with the little boy (my youngest grandson) was Easter Sunday a couple weeks ago.

You look fabulous, keep up the good work

  7. I wish I would of had the ability to walk after surgery. It would of made for a much easier post op recovery the first month. We had about 8 inches of snow on the ground and it made for a very difficult recovery. I was sleeved on 2/3/14 and oh boy.. If I were to give anyone advice I would say if you live in Ohio.. get sleeved in the late spring or summer so you have the ability to get outdoors. I had a hard time even venturing outdoors to attempt to walk at a mall.. it was horrific but I would not change the decision to have the sleeve done at all. I had a great experience with my Doctor and his staff and I am 2.5 months post op and down 42 lbs at least.. next check up I am hoping it is more.. (at least my clothes are saying it is...lol) Wishing everyone much success.

  8. :) Good Wednesday morning everyone. I am in Lancaster Ohio about half an hour east of Columbus. I had my sleeve 2/3/14 with Dr Thomas Sonnanstine at Riverside Hospital. It was a great experience, no problems at all and they treat you like your truly special (as we all are) I am just slightly two months post op and down 39 lbs on my last weigh in. I am looking forward to the weather breaking because frankly I was considering moving to Florida. THis past winter here in Ohio was horrid wasn't it? Would love to know if you all have set up a meet and greet. Looking forward to keeping updated with everyone and congrats on your decision for this journey and becoming happy and healthy.. :D

  9. Hi Morgan. It will get better one day at a time. I know its hard when you feel like nothing is going right. I had my sleeve 2/3/14 and came home two days later with 6 inches of snow on the ground and no support system in place. I couldn't get outside, couldnt get enough Water or Protein in me and thought for sure I had literally ended my own life. Here I am a little over two months post op, weather is changing so I can now be a bit more active and feeling so much better. I still have nausea once in a while and still can't seem to get my protein or water intake what it should be but I do feel good and down 39 lbs. Hope you feel better soon and keep your chin up.. you have that sweet little boy wanting his mommy health and happy.

  10. Hi, I would very much like all of us to publish who your surgeon was and at what facility you received your sleeve? I would hope this information will be of importance for all the future visitors to the site in helping them make a decision and hoping to relieve some stress in picking a doctor. Please post your information.

My name is Tim my surgeon was Dr. Ramos Kelly and surgery was performed at the INT Hospital. Had wonderful english skills and hospital was exceptionally clean and caring nurses. Nurses lacked english speaking skills but someone was around at all hours to translate. I recommend the hospital and the Doctor. My stay was 2 nights in hosptial and 2 nights at the Baja Inn Hotel five star

    Surgeon: Dr. Ramos Kelly

    Hospital : INT Hospital

I was sleeved 2/3/14 by Dr Thomas Sonnanstine Columbus Ohio. Riverside Hospital. Wonderful doctor..I highly recommend him

  11. On April 9, I will be three out from my sleeve. I have a question for anyone out longer than me... When I "eat", I get an odd feeling, almost like when you have to burp but can't/don't. I am wondering if that is normal?

I also have some really weird and sometimes very loud noises that come from my tummy. Normal?

I have the same thing since I started solid foods. I dont have discomfort but I agree it does feel strange

  12. Hi everyone. My name is kathy and I am two weeks and two days post op. I was sleeved on 02/03/2014. I am 56 yrs old and my beginning stats were 242 lbs on October 1,2013 with a BMI of 47.3, I am only 5 feet tall. I have diabetes, osteoarthritis and COPD. I quit smoking 14 months ago and the next step was the WLS. My goal is to get back to a healthy place so I can finish raising my grandchild.. I was not given a preop diet to follow. I live in Lancaster Ohio and my surgeon is Dr Thomas Sonnanstein at Riverside Methodist Hospital/ Fresh Start Bariatrics. I was completely elated with my weight loss for two weeks which was a bit over 18 bls. I am now in the blended diet and struggling to figure out what consistency my food should be but I will get it. I am determined and now searching for a support group locally. Good luck to all that have already been on their journey or those that are just starting.

  15. Hi everyone. My surgery was 2/3/14 so I am two weeks and one day post op. My post op appointment is in the morning and while I am out I would like to stop at the store for a few items. I think this diet I am going into is blended. Can anyone tell me the difference between blended and liquid? I would really like to venture out to something with more nutrition . I am constantly struggling with amounts of prepared foods. I have been using the homemade Protein smoothies which are much better than that awful powder..lol Any suggestions would be appreciated. I will follow up tomorrow with my total weight loss since my surgery date. My stats were 5 feet tall, 242 lbs when my journey began so my BMI was 49.6. I was 234 two days pre surgery and have not been weighed yet so tomorrow is the day for sure. I am very excited because I can feel a difference already.
