    ANYONE IN MARYLAND....Looking for ...

No I didn't have to stay afterall , the nurse had told me that and it really stressed me out. The surgeon didn't require that at all.
  2. Hello to everyone, I am a 48 yr old woman who was sleeved on December 12th 2014 and I'm 5'4 started at 293 and now weigh 238 I am struggling as my goal weight is 150 but I've been at this weight for months now. I do Not get my water in but I only eat 1000 cal per day, what is wrong with me! I see people who are down 100 lbs. by now, I'm so frustrated with myself and feel like this is it for me, left with 90 lbs to lose and feel like I'm back to my old self, just stuck with this weight on with no hope. I cannot eat less than 1000 cal per day or I feel very hungry. But I don't think 1000 cal. is very much. I should be losing tons of weight with that cal. intake. Any suggestions are so appreciated. Thank you .

My surgery was also 12/12/14 and I feel no restriction and have the same concerns, that it will not work for me, I really hope the restriction comes with the solid food!

    opinions needed please...

His track record I think is good, he had one death from a complication which was a bypass but none for sleeve.
  6. Hello Everyone.. I am pre-op and have a date set for Oct. 23rd I interviewed my surgeon and found out he has done about 1,000 weight loss surgery's with 200 of them being sleeves. What do you think, is that enough experience?? I really like him and trust him. But I'd like some opinions please. Thanks

    Hair....

Is there anyone out there that started off with already thin diffused hair that you can see your scalp and then had WLS???? If so I want to know if the surgery made it a lot worse?? Prob a dumb question.

    so indecisive!

I am driving myself nuts, as I know myself and the fact that I've lost 80lbs on my own about 8 times in 15yrs or so only to gain it all back plus some and now I'm 282lbs at 5 '4 my highest was 301lbs... and once again miserable, I know I can't do this anymore to myself, I'm exhausted! I just want to make the decision once and for all to have the surgery and not be so terrified of it. BUT every day I go back and forth in my thoughts of not doing it because it may be a big mistake. All the what if's. As it stands amazingly I am healthy with only sleep apnea. But I know it's gonna catch up to me if I don't do something.
  11. Hi, has anyone had dr. Rehrig at Walter Reed in MD?? How was your experience?
  12. I so want to ask a Dermatologist or Endocrinologist a question, but I don't want to go through my doctor and have to do blood work then get a referral , Yad yada yada! If anybody can answer this bizarre question I'd sure be thankful. Here it goes.... If I already have really thin hair where you can see through to my scalp from either it being (Androgenic Alopecia) or a previous case of(Telogen Effluvium) from 9 yrs. ago and my hair never came back.....then I have the VSG surgery and I go through the Telogen Effluvium again, will my hair grow back? Not knowing if my hair will come back is keeping me from the surgery. I am beside myself with fear of permanently losing even MORE hair. As it is I have to wear a hair piece, as a woman it is devastating. I so badly need to have surgery but then what, be a healthy, trim BALD woman. I know it may sound vain, please no mean comments, I understand if you start with a nice full, thick head of hair then it's no biggy, can hardly notice, but when I have people staring at my head already when I go out, it's horribly embarrassing. What should I do? Should I have the VSG or keep the hair I have left and stay obese and still unhappy. I'm so confused on what to do.

    Vegetarian Sleevers?

I am still pre-op also but am a vegetarian, and plan to stay that way. If you eat eggs, milk, beans, spinach, yogurt, nuts, it's all good sources of protein on top of the shakes. I also am scared for hair loss but I hear it grows back.
  15. Hello, I am pre-surgery for a sleeve and almost done with all my pre-ops. I really want this surgery BUT, I am SO scared!!! I am worried I may be trading being healthy and trim with a Lifetime of possible GERD. My dad had suffered all his life with GERD and he's never had surgery and even with his meds he suffers. Can anybody tell me how common this is, and is it really bad, severe GERD or is anyone suffering from it? Sorry being so negative I'm just so nervous about what could happen. I sooo badly am trying to be excited about a new life, and it's hindering my happiness. Any advise or comments appreciated. Thank you.
