My name is Serena, and my bariatric nurse recommended that I join a support group of some sort. I google searched and came up with BariatricPal.

I have been struggling to lose the weight required to qualify me for my gastric bypass surgery. I am at a seriously frustrating standstill.

I am married almost twenty years. We have three children. I have many pets; including three dogs, a cat, a bird and salt water fish. I am an artist. I love to create with my hands; painting, drawing, sewing, needle felting and sculpting with polymer clay.

I suffer from depression, anxiety, fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, arthritis and obesity. I believe that losing weight will allow me to gain some distance from diabetes - which I am insulin resistant and creeping closer to it. I also have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. So much will benefit my long term goals of being fit and living longer as a result of the surgery.

I live in Minnesota, born and raised in a small town. I don't care for the big cities. I also think I am ready to relocate to a warmer climate permanently!
