  1. I am a mom who has had the vgs last summer… so happy with it. My 16 yr old daughter is very over weight as well. I haven't told her about my sleeve not wanting to cause any more emotional issues than she has. Any advise? tell her or don't? recommend the sleeve or wish you wouldn't have had it??

Well coming from a very liberal and open upbringing I would say to tell her... My mom had the gastric bypass about 6/7 years ago so I would've been 10 or 11... I knew full well what she was going through... I was at the hospital before and after she went under. My mom, friends (those I've told), and family have been very supportive of me throughout all of this. I knew my options and very glad for that. Also one other thing.. Definitely with something like this (assuming you want to offer her the option to have the surgery herself ) you need to have a certain level of maturity and emotional stability so if she's not mentally prepared for it I suggest seeing a counselor (I do and it's a requirement for someone her age). But if ur just questioning whether or not to tell her I say just tell her. It doesnt directly impact her life.

  2. Hi young ladies! I just wanted to ask if you have heard of the difference between physical hunger and head hunger? Are you working on figuring our ways to get your needs met other than your favorite foods from the past? I'm 42 and you guys are so lucky that you are so young and have the rest of your lives ahead of you! I wasted so many years feeling like crap about myself and I would trade any kind of food to be able to look back at my twenties and thirties and see a happy healthy me! Good luck to all of you!

With my full stomach I knew the difference.. But with this new stomach I'm not so sure... I've been taking Prevacid because I heard acid could imitate the feelings of hunger .. Idk what I'm feeling right now... I just had a couple of spoonfuls of Soup and I guess I'm satisfied cuz I don't feel "full" but I don't feel hungry... I think.. I'm having pains in my stomach and back (I think it's from the surgery itself) and I have no interest in eating

  3. Yup I ttied burger king which used to be my favorite but it just doesnt agree with me....nd I tried mc donalds n pizza...not as bad as burger king..but I said I was gonna chill out with it.... im tryna loose my weight by july which is my 19th bday... have u tried any fast food yet?

No I'm only 6 days post op... It's just that I feel so hungry and I'm having really strong cravings that I feel I'm getting into a mild depression that I will never be able to have my favorite foods again (fried chicken, French fries, etc) ik there will be some things that will/won't agree with me again but it's just really hard to put things into perspective... Like I said it is probably because I feel the hunger during this liquid stage instead of fullness... At this point it still hasn't hit me that I'll only be able to fit 1/2 cup of food in my stomach AND be full with that

  4. Nooo there is restriction I can just eat more....thats normal...I follow a lot of vsgrs on youtube nd their portion size is bigger to...I just feel like the activity level should increase as well with all tht food tht helps u loose....check out this girl on youtube her name is Beautyfortheobese.....she is def an inspiration to me...she is from london has an accent

Thank you!!! Have you tried eating any fast food post op? If so what kind

  5. What you guys are feeling is stomach acid. I thought it was hunger also until I started reading some posts on this board. My Doctor started me on prilosec which he told me I should have left the hospital with. It will soon pass. Are you all on anything similar to Prilosec?

Yes I heard that acid can be mistaken for hunger but I have been taking Prevacid and I still feel hungry

  6. I'm at your exact stage. I had mine on Wednesday, too. I am having a hard time getting all the Water in even though I'm really trying. I've been feeling terrible hunger pangs since the surgery. I am also looking forward to the puree stage. To add to the torture, I've been watching cooking shows. I need to stop the torture. I've got a lot of food allergies and won't be able to eat things such as eggs so I'll be really limited on the puree stage. I'll figure it out, though.

Yes stop the torture!!!! Is it just me or is tv purposely putting fast food commercials every other commercial ugh...

  7. What hospital was your surgery? Hang in there, new adjustments for your body and mind. It will get better!

I did my surgery at Miriam Hospital in Providence RI, I was the youngest patient to have the sleeve done there (17) and I am really praying things will get better

  8. Trust me itll get better I used to have that feeling an sometimes still do...im 2 mnths post op and things are changing....so give it time hun

Thanks. I think my cravings are so strong because I don't experience that full limitation yet with the liquid diet. I feel I have a basically unlimited tolerance for liquids. I can drink as much as I want but I feel hungry. Hopefully once I get to purée stage I'll feel "full"

  9. I had my surgery this past Wednesday so I'm 5 days post op. I am experiencing that "why did I do this" feeling and I've been feeling hungry the past two days which have me fixated on food & all the junk I'm craving right now (ie. French fries and a burger) .. Have any of you experienced a feeling of hunger a few days after post op like I an right now... I'm in complete torture... I can't wait for the purée stage so I can at least have some squash and mashed potatoes (to curb my starch craving)

  15. I feel the exact same. I was just telling my daughter that yesterday was easier. Maybe it was still too numb yesterday and we never felt the "full" signal.

When did u have your surgery ?? Because I haven't felt the full signal .. In fact I feel the opposite .. So maybe that's normal to not feel "sooooo full" I was a little scared that the surgery didn't "work" or something
