3weeks out, calorie question?
lsuchick4 replied to Zoumommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just over 3 weeks out. My NUT says to not focus on calories, only on Protein and fluids. My goal is to be under 800 calories, but I'm usually around 600. -
Cramping on the left side
lsuchick4 replied to jessroto's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same thing. My dr said that is where he removed the stomach. I feel it still sometimes if I'm more active. -
A big part of it is that your body is recovering from major abdominal surgery and there can be residual effects of the anesthesia.

Ghrelin ? Still hungry?
lsuchick4 replied to Llunker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me I don't get hungry like before the surgery. I can feel that my stomach is empty and it's time to refuel, but it's not a hunger like I need to eat anything in sight. -
What happend during your 1st consultation?
lsuchick4 replied to Megan00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was like this, too. I had the work up with the nurse, who asked questions about my health history, diet history, etc. Then with the surgeon, he explained the choices and his recommendation and I could ask questions - but I didn't have any. I was required to meet for 3 months (1 x per month) with the dietitian, though. That was much more in depth about my previous struggles, what changes need to be made immediately, what would happen after surgery, etc. -

lsuchick4 replied to liguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Celebrate for all my Vitamins. My dr. strictly forbids using Flintstone's chewables. -
Worried about slow loss
lsuchick4 replied to SoonergirlLayla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you've done great! I was sleeved on 2/7. I've lost 31 lbs from high weight, 18 from preop. My surgeon's goal is 10 lbs per month. Which doesn't sound like a lot, until you multiply it by 10 months. That's 100 lbs!!! -
Mashed potatoes (or any potatoes) are not allowed on my diet. I have to focus on high Protein, low carb. But given that, I can only eat 1 - 2 ounces, especially if I get the dense protein first.

Driving...Post Operation
lsuchick4 replied to survivingsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drove on day 3, but I didn't have any pain meds after surgery. I felt fantastic, only a little sore. -

3 weeks post op tomorrow... I can eat a good amount. Is this normal?
lsuchick4 replied to gohelpyourself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so you can't eat a 1/2 c at one sitting? Probably half of that. -
I moved to purees at week 2. I haven't experienced any stall. I focus on getting all my Protein in, keep my calories low and drink my fluids. Some things I live on: hummus refried Beans with cheese laughing cow cheese (tons of flavors) sharp cheddar sticks (I prefer them not super cold right out of the fridge, so they are super soft) tuna salad chicken salad aloette chese (soft, spreadable) eggs - scrambled or fried soft. add in a little cheese for protein baked ricotta

Quite an accomplishment! Way to go!

3 weeks post op tomorrow... I can eat a good amount. Is this normal?
lsuchick4 replied to gohelpyourself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 2/7. I'm on soft solid foods, but can incorporate flaky fish, Beans, some soft veggies, etc. So far I can eat with no issues. I don't know if I'd be able to eat that much, but am tolerating solids well. I'm tracking on MFP and getting in tons of Protein (one shake per day, plus food). I'm losing weight and feel great! -
Having problems adjusting
lsuchick4 replied to cdestrada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Water didn't sit we'll with me. I'm living on Powerade zero (lots of favors) and Sobe water (I like the Fuji Apple pear). I drink them at room temp. Also hot decaf tea helped at first. I can eat better if I'm hydrated. As far as soft foods, laughing cow cheese has tons of favors which can change it up for you. Or try other soft cheeses like a baked ricotta or a sharp cheddar. -
When to go back to work (telecommuting) ?
lsuchick4 replied to CubsWinCubsWin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on a Friday. I worked at home the following week, starting on Monday. That allowed me time to rest and recover, while still getting done of my hectic work done. -
I saw the EOB from insurance for the hospital today. That portion was $24000. Surgeon was $5500.

My plan says clear, calorie-free, caffeine- free liquids. I do water, powerade zero, vitamin water zero, sobe life water

I used a pillow on either side of me to have a soft prop. I did that for about 4 nights, then had no issues.
