  2. The pre-op liquid diet was the hardest part for me. After surgery, I was on liquids for 2 weeks, then began to progress my diet. I wasn't hungry, though, and didn't have the cravings. My entire relationship with foods have changed.

    Iron Deficiency

I am anemic and take prescription Iron (I have taken it for several years now). Vitamin C helps the iron bind in the blood. How long have you been on supplements? My dr said that it can take up to 90 days before you see the results start to increase after starting the supplements. Also, make sure you are not taking the supplement with any kind of Calcium. That can inhibit absorption.

    Magnesium Citrate

If you were already on liquids, you were probably pretty cleaned out already.
  5. I had to do it the night before surgery. It wasn't for weight loss, though. Pouring it over ice helped it go down. Don't wander far from your own bathroom after drinking it!

    FRUSTRATED ON ALL LEVELS!

For me, the pre-op diet was the worst part of the entire experience. Keep busy and keep drinking. Surgery day will be here before you know it!

    Frustration!

You are only 2 weeks after a major surgery. Your body is still recovering. Be patient.

    MAJOR NSV!

    AWESOME!
  9. Yes! Almost every day things become more sweet tasting to me - it's too much. Even Powerade Zero is too sweet now. I like the Nestle Pure Life waters with flavors (lemon, orange, etc) and even those are too sweet. So anything with actual sugar in it that is supposed to be really sweet is WAY TOO MUCH!

    stared at

So rude! My night nurse after surgery made a comment that I wasn't that big. I just told her that it was a decision that I made with my doctor based on my health. What gets me, though, is that no one would tell an alcoholic or cocaine addict to not go to rehab. Or that they don't use enough drugs to get outside help.

    suffering from hiccups

Hiccups are my sign, too. I usually hiccup once or twice. I try to stop before that. If I eat too much, I get painful hiccups. No way to stop them, other than to wait.

    NSV: Airplane seatbelt fit!

AWESOME! I could have written this exact post! I'm traveling this week and flew on Wednesday. I had room to spare in the seat belt! And I was super comfortable the whole trip. I'm going in the right direction!

    Help! TOM munchies?

I'm right there with you! Early this week was hell. I had crazy munchies. I ended up having from garlic butter french fries (after my grilled mahi). The salt and fat pretty much satisfied me.
  14. I struggle with this, too! I measure everything out and try to put a little less. I am trying to stop before I'm full - just when the edge is gone.
  15. Awesome! I am traveling this week for work. I fit in the plane seat with no issues. The seat belt buckled, with room to spare! and I wasn't infringing on my neighbor's space!
  16. My doc requires a 2 week liquid diet prep. 1 week full liquid, 1 week clear liquid. My surgery was scheduled where I just had to do clears. The prep was the worst part for me.

    Chills

Yes! I have this regularly. I now sleep in pants and long sleeves with socks. I also have a heating pad in my bed at my feet. That helps me stay warm.

    In between meals

I eat a snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon. It's usually SF pudding, laughing cow cheese with a couple of whole wheat crackers, or a cheese stick.
  19. My surgery was on a Friday and I was at work (from home) on Monday, I returned to the office the following Monday. You can do it! As for food, I pack a little lunch box with me everywhere I go. I keep an assortment of things like: yogurt, laughing cow cheese wedges, hummus, deli ham, cheese sticks, guacamole. At 2 weeks, I packed refried Beans with cheese, scrambled egg,
  20. My high weight was 279 lb. Preop weight was 265 lb. Surgery was 2/7. I was 259 day of surgery. At 1 month (3/7), I was 243 - so I lost 15 lbs. Today, I'm 235.

Help please. 5 days post op

Temperature really affected my tummy. So maybe change up to something warm or room temperature. Slow down and sip really slowly!

    Ideas for celebrating goals

I hit 45 lbs down overall today. I went shopping for new clothes. When I'm down 100 lbs my BFF and our families are going to Disney World to ride Dumbo together. We did it as fat chicks that barely fit (she had the sleeve too).

    Regrets?

Get some nausea meds from the doc. I think we all had a moment thinking, what did I do? I'm 6 weeks post op and down 45 lbs (total) and 2 pants sizes. These first days will be a distant memory very soon.

    Protein shakes

unjury unflavored doesn't really have a taste but it does have the grit of Protein powder. I add it to yogurt for a boost. I like Atkins ready to drink shakes. And Syntrax nectar.
  25. Yes!! I wake up a couple times a week like this. I'm always colder than before.
