    IL - Chicago Southwest Suburbs

Hello Illinois people. I'm in the West Side of Chicago almost 6 months post-op! I'm still looking for WLS people to chat with, exchange thoughts, concerns, and even vent with in regards to our journey. Haven't found a group I can join locally; anybody know of one in Chicago?

I see no difference in my weight loss either, I've lost 40-45lbs so far. People around me tell me they see the difference!

Insurance to pay for protein shakes

Insure Nutritions works! Not a scam, as long as your insurance covers protein supplements. They also send you a cream for scars and bariatric vitamins, only thing I paid was the shipping. I had to stay on the doctors office and Insure Nutritions people about faxing, signing and sending prescriptions.

    IL - Chicago Southwest Suburbs

Hello Illinois people. I'm in Chicago (the city)!!! I'd like to find a support group, the hospital where I had surgery has a support group that meets only once a month for their patients only.
  7. I'm on week 7 post-op and I'm still on work leave till next week. I'm a patient care tech so I do some heavy lifting. Now what I'm doing is building up a bit of strength and energy. Dr./Nut added vitamins to my diet, that's also supposed to help me with my energy levels.
  8. I'm 5 weeks post-op! I'm so tired all the time and have no energy. Last weeks i went for my 1 month follow up, the Dr. said that it's normal to feel that way and it's going to be a while longer before I have energy back. Only thing I can do is make sure I meet my water and protein goals, also started me on all the vitamins. Hopefully that helps me cuz I go back to work in a couple of weeks.
  9. Hello, I'm from Chicago! I'm always looking to make new friends, to give and receive support especially from ppl that know what I'm going through. I had gastric bypass surgery 5/19/2014! It's going pretty good everything is so new.
  10. I saw my surgeon the other day for the last time before the surgery. He said all my paper work was in with the exception of my 6 month supervised weight management program. So his office was going to submit my claim to my insurance......I'm just waiting on an answer now!!!!! So what are you guys doing to pass the time? -I've been on this site of course! -Looking a you tube videos which might not be a good idea!! -Researching bariatric products -Reading labels, recipes and rereading everything that has been given to me by my weight loss program
  11. Hello MAY members, so I had my Bypass May 19th. So far okay could be worse! I'm already tired of the flavored protein shakes so I just got the unflavored kind from GNC. I got approved from my insurance for per made shakes. So I'm waiting for them now. Hopefully I have a better time with them! I have no pain except when I get up in the morning, I'm a bit sore. I'm kinda scared cuz I still can't identify when I'm full or even when I'm hungry! I just eat cuz I have to but not much. Getting my protein in is very hard for me! The water though is not a problem especially very cold, I love it!!! Exercising I was told to start by just walking 15mins then start adding to that time slowly! We got to stay positive!!! :-)

  13. Hello everyone! Surgery went very well. Had surgery yesterday at 8am, out of surgery at12noon. In recovery room till 2pm. Taken to my room after that. The pain is not bad at all. They gave a button for morphine and something else. I'm ahead of schedule because I sat up on a chair for about 4hrs and started walking yesterday. Today I get to drink, foley comes out and some more walking! Looking forward to it!!!!! How was surgery for the rest of the #MAY19ers?

    Anyone scheduled for May 2014?

thank you Doll hope your doing well Hi #Rebellious ButterflyHow are you doing? I don't know if you remember me but I'm the one from the nutrition classes. Just wanted to check in with you! I'm going to pray for you, I'm sure your going to be ok! Good luck and god bless
  18. Hello everyone, ok so as I already stated I'm having surgery #MAY19!!!! I had my pre-op testing done May 6, 2014, which for some reason only consisted of blood and urine test!? Yesterday I got a call from the clinic telling me that my white blood cells came back high. Wtf???? Today I went to take another urine test and sometime next week I have to get my blood drawn again. That does scare me because I don't want anything to jeopardize my surgery. I'm trying not to jump into any conclusions especially because the surgery is still on as planned. There could be a numerous amount of reasons why my WBC came back high like STRESS which I know I have, FATIGUE which I have been going through recently, STEROIDS from my inhaler I've been using it a lot recently cuz of string cleaning. Also infection, inflammation and even cancer are causes for high blood counts. I'm trying so hard not to think negative because I feel like I'm so close.
  19. Hello how are you? Where are you located? Where are you having surgery at?
  20. Best of luck to you! I'll be thinking about you tomorrow.
  21. Hi HalfbellaMy surgery date is May 19, 2014!!!!!! Literally understand what you went through as I too started this process in. November 2013. I did all prerequisites needed including the 6 month supervised diet, BTW I got lucky I was approved in month 5!!!! I felt like I was bothering the program coordinator; I would email her every week! She was nice; I think! Lol I start my pre-op diet Monday the 5th ! Tuesday the 6th I have pre-operative testing for surgery and pre-operative class for b-4 & after surgery. I think at that point it will finally sink in, that it's really happening! I'm looking forward to following all of "my fellow #MAY19ers" journeys!!!!

    Surgery date!

Hi welcome! I've got the same surgery date!! There is something about the 19th!!!! I understand how you feel believe me. As the days pass I get more nervous about "the new me". I'm worried about my 2yr old and that he is so attached to me. As for suggestions...... Ask all the questions that come to mind! Also are you signed up for the Insure Nutrition protein shakes covered by insurances? Looking forward to sharing this experience with you and all the other 19ers. Do you have a pre-op diet? I start my pre-op diet on Monday. It's a low carb, low fat, & high protein diet.
  23. Congrats ion your surgery date. That's mine too! How are you doing? Do you have a pre-op diet to follow! I start mine next Monday! It's a high protein, low fat, low carb diet!
  24. I'm having surgery in a few weeks and my 2yr old is very active too. I know it's for my greater good and even for his but it sucks to have to say "no". My 9yr old says he'll play for me! Lol
