April Fitness Challange!
I've been looking for some incentive to stay on track. I'm currently doing couch 2 5k. So, I commit to 30 minutes if running/walking, three - four times per week, every week.

95lbs down!
Incredible! Congratulations!!!

Why no drinking 30/30?
My doc originally gave the 30/30 rule in my pre-surgery nutrition class, but after surgery I was told to forget that. I was told to drink Water right up until the point that you sit down to eat. Don't drink while you eat but start drinking about 15 minutes after you finish your meal. Wondering if others have received the same (changed) advice.

Could I be dehydrated?
I'm 7 weeks post-op today. For the last 3-5 days, I've been waking up and feeling dehydrated. My fingers feel a little swollen and my urine is dark yellow. I've been very thirsty too. I have not changed my diet or exercise during this time and I always get at least 64oz Water each day (usually more). What could be going on ?

I'm sorry; what's a PPI?

I'm so hungry! :(
I was sleeved on 1/29 so am almost 7 weeks. I've felt hunger for the past several weeks but it's been minimal. Hunger for me prior to surgery was stomach growling, feeling dizzy and lightheaded, headache, etc. so just a little empty feeling in my tummy after surgery was nothing. In the last few days, I've felt SO hungry, my stomach has been growling (first time since surgery) loudly, really feeling like I'm starving (not literally, just like before surgery). I haven't changed my diet at all; I haven't changed my exercise routine. I always get all of my Protein, I always get all of my Water. Anyone else experience this several weeks out? Any thoughts? PLEASE tell me this isn't going to last!!!!

Funny you mention this....I've been doing great but have not been able to get myself going this week for some reason. I don't know if it's the continued cold weather or what. I've been trying to up my calories (I get my protein) to see if that would help but it's so hard to do!

Meals-to-go ideas 12 days after surgery
I only took three days off work too. You will be fine! Cottage cheese, the laughing cow cheese wedges, pre-mixed protein drinks, lots if water.

freezing!
When I first saw this thread a week or two ago, I thought you all must be exaggerating....it's winter, after all. Well, ho hum, I now keep the heat 3* higher than I used to while layering sweat pants, sweatshirts, thick socks and blankets! And, I'm 231, so certainly not thin. I wonder if this is just part if the losing phase or if it lasts. Stay warm, everyone!

Anyone wearing bikinis?
I had my gall bladder removed years ago and the scars are very similar-the scars won't necessarily point to bariatric surgery! "Scars are tattoos with better stories".

Did your life change for the better or worse post VSG?
After only 4 weeks, I played laser tag with my kids (teens)! And I ran! . I felt so good! Not only was I ashamed to be seen with my kids previously because I was afraid they were embarrassed of me, but I could have also never run and hid and jumped out from behind objects before. I'm looking forward to many more of these times....especially after losing a lot more!!!

Anyone else tired of THAT question? and Why am I now a weight loss guru?
Obviously, I'm more sarcastic than you all because I just tell people I stopped eating-they shut up after that!

calling JAN sleevers! need to hear from ya
I chose to go gluten free after my surgery in hopes that it would help with my rheumatoid arthritis - it did....or losing the weight did one.... Being pain free has certainly been incentive to stay gluten free! I've also tried to stay sugar free, as much as possible (I think being gluten free helps with the sugar free). There are so many hidden sugars foods so that's been hard. I do contribute the low sugar and gluten free to helping a lot with my weight loss (of course I know this, right?? ). I figure if I keep that attitude in my head, it will be a good thing to me. I really feel like my eating habits are becoming just that now....habits. I don't want to think of myself as being on a diet!!! I've watched valentines day come and go with no chocolate, now St. Patrick's day.....I've even sat through a movie with my hubby and kids eating a bucket of popcorn (one of my all time favorites) and you know what I've realized, I just don't care anymore. I have a whole different outlook on food now. It's a need not a want. Don't get me wrong, I still have some cravings here and there, but if I don't need it or if it isn't going to nourish my body, I don't eat it....or at least I try not to....

I refuse to as well. I've been wearing leggings with long shirts for a month and a half. Actually, my leggings are starting to get too big, so I guess that's a good thing!!! Are you on Pinterest? I've found a ton if recipes that are similar in order to change things up a bit. For example, crock pot chicken recipes that change up the seasonings or sauces! You're doing great-keep on doing what you're doing! .

Sounds like you're on a roll!! Great job! As far as recipes, I'm pretty much living off crock pot chicken recipes (just about any) because the chicken turns out so tender and juicey-have you tried that?
