  1. I also got badly backed up. One day I took a dose of Miralax... The next day I took two stool softeners... By lunchtime that second day, I was cleaned out. Now trying to stay regular with daily Benefiber. Good luck! I know, it's miserable.
  2. Which is better to start with? I really don't even know where to begin. I'm 8 weeks post op, and have roughly 200 lbs to lose. I am also getting started with walking. I want to do walking, and either start the bands or weights. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  3. Wow! You are an amazing inspiration to me! What do you keep your calories/fat/carbs at per day? And what are you doing for exercise? Thanks!
  4. I am 8 weeks post op, and down 37.8 pounds. I don't know if I should be happy or sad about this? I am only losing about 1-2 pounds per week now. I have a lot to lose... hoping for a total of 200 pounds. I'm getting around 600-700 calories per day, and trying to hit 80gm of protein. Any other suggestions?
  5. I am 8 weeks post op and have pretty much those same goals/numbers. Lately I am getting the protein by still drinking two Premier Protein shakes per day. I also eat small meals... Cottage cheese, eggs, turkey, chicken, fish, yogurt, cheese sticks, veggies, etc. but those protein shakes are still really helpful since I can't eat much real food at a time. Another help is Quest bars. 20g of protein and I really like the taste of most of them. Don't have them everyday, but at least a couple per week.
  6. I'm 7 weeks post op, and feel like I got hit by a bus today! Tired, achy, sore throat, post nasal, cough, etc... What can we take for a nasty cold? Or possibly the flu?
  7. I see a lot of mentions of Trader Joes. I'm going there tonight, but it isn't close to home so I don't get there often. What are you favorites from Trader Joes?
  8. I'm 6 weeks out and tolerating most solids pretty well. (Haven't tried any salads.). But I can only eat a tiny amount! I actually haven't eaten "out" since surgery and DH wants Applebees takeout tonight. Any suggestions on what to order?
  9. Anyone ever tried this? Or something similar? I'm only 6 weeks out... Wondering if it's something we can try? https://www.p28foods.com/baked-goods/p28-high-protein-bread
  10. I take an antacid med every morning since being sleeved, but if it still ever gets bad my surgeon recommends Gaviscon.
  11. Walk, heating pad, gas x strip... Repeat. Good luck!
  12. Pizza. Fried chicken. Soda. Burgers. Doritos. Basically, all the stuff that made me fat in the first place.
  13. Please tell me what vitamins you take daily, during your first year post op! TIA!
  14. I've been eating lots of refried beans! I will JUST be starting on solid foods... Just don't want to end up feeling icky. I really want to try some shrimp of some kind... Wonder if I should wait longer though...
  15. Going to girls night, dinner and a movie on Saturday. We are going to Mexican (Azteca) for dinner. I'll be exactly 32 days post op, and tolerating most things well. Anyone have ideas of what to order? Or should I play safe and get soup, or beans and cheese??
  16. What kinds of food were you eating/trying at 4 weeks out? (Normal recovery and progress!)
  17. I am 23 days out today and just starting on soft foods... Dr says try 2 oz, 5 times daily. I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to take in 2oz... But I can! I hear about many taking only 1/2-1 tsp... But I don't have a problem with most things (refried beans, cottage cheese, scrambled egg) with 2 oz at a time. Is this bad??? And I going to lose weight this way? Am I eating too much?
  18. I think every surgeon is different. I had to follow a strict 10 day pre-op diet. I didn't cheat even one time! Lost 22 lbs doing it and STILL had a "fatty liver". ????
  19. Congratulations! That's exciting! Can't wait to get there myself!
  20. I am 6 days post-op and really feeling pretty good. My only pain that I feel all day long is kind of an aching/burning inside, right where my chest meets my tummy. About two inches below the middle of breasts. Anyone else have this? Is it something to worry about? I don't think it's gas... I've dealt with a lot of that, but it's getting better and feels totally different.
  21. Meeting a friend tomorrow morning. Does Starbucks carry just herbal teas? Any suggestions on what to have there at one week post-op and clear liquids stage? TIA!
  22. I am wondering if baby foods (fruits mostly) would be ok during pureed stage? I wouldn't dare to eat the meats (blech!). But my list says "boiled, puréed fruits like applesauce". I remember my babies eating some pretty tasty fruit combinations when they were tiny. Would these be ok? Too much sugars? Anyone else try them during this stage?
  23. Just had my drain taken out! (Gross)... And they said it will close on its own?!? Just keep it clean with soap and water and it will close on its own in a week? Sorry this is all new and disgusting to me... What's your experience with the drain hole?
  24. Thanks everyone! I am currently on day 5 of the pre-op diet, and leaving on Monday for Mexicali!! I am also getting cold feet... But I know I'll go through with it. I'm so nervous... I also have severe anxiety... But I'm also very excited and ready! So glad to hear others' great experiences!!!
  25. Good job!! I am currently on day 5! It seems to be getting easier, but I still think about food all day long. Let's hang in there! When is your surgery? Good luck!
