  1. Hi: The follow up fills and support is forever, the surgery is for a day. You may want to reconsider your surgeon if he/she doesn't do fills. He/she may be in it "just for the money" if they're not interested in doing the fills and follow up. It may be difficult to find a doctor to follow up on a different surgeon's surgery. Best wishes to you. Sue
  2. Hi: I got uncomfortable with saying how big the loss was too, because it was like saying "I got to be the size of a cow." One way to respond is "I'm not sure how much I've lost, but I've still got more to lose to become the average-sized amazing woman that I am on the inside on the outside". Best wishes to you with your lapband journey. Sue
  3. Hi: I haven't heard anyone else complain about so much pain in their throat and neck. You should probably call your surgeon to make sure things are okay. Hope you feel better soon. Sue
  4. Hi: My doctor said that when at good restriction the size of the opening is a little bigger than an M&M. Most of us can relate to the size of an M&M:blushing:. I try to think of that when I'm cutting my food. Sue
  5. If you feel a sneeze or a good laugh coming hug a pillow to your abdomen and hold it there until after the sneeze or laugh. Sneezing and laughing were painful for the first couple of weeks. Take care. Sue
  6. Here's a link to someone who was looking for a Mid Band fill doctor in Boston area. You should probably send a message to this person to see if they can tell you the answer to your question. I did some googling and I couldn't figure it out. LAP-BAND I hope that your doctor in Mexico responds. Did you try looking at their website for the answer? Just a thought. I hope you figure it out and get to the sweet spot soon. Take care. Sue
  7. Hi Haily: I am from MA too. I had a much higher bmi than yours when I first started. I looked at your profile and noticed that you are going to Dr. Glasgow. I've been going to the Glasgows since 2007. If there's a way to make it happen they will. Jayne (insurance coordinator and wonder woman!) knows all of the ins and outs of the insurances. I'm sure she'll work with Dr. Glasgow and do all they can to make it happen for you. They are terrific over there:thumbup:. Maybe I'll see you at one of their support group meetings. I'll have positive thoughts for you. Take care. Sue
  8. Congratulations for winning your battle! Sue
  9. Hi Skinny: Be careful not to do too much. Three hours of shopping may set you back a bit or increase your swelling over the next few days. Funny what you said about the pulling being in the groin area. That's where I would get the worst sharp pains. It was impossible to sleep on my side because the pain would come right away if I did. Unfortunately that's where my body goes when I'm asleep. The pain would randomly hit there when I wasn't doing anything too. Sounds like you're well on your way to recovery. It's nice to have the drains out. It makes showering and getting dressed so much easier. Get some rest and relax. Take care. Sue
  10. Hi: My doctor has us on liquids first 24 hours, then mushies next 24 hours, and then solids after 48 hours. Maybe you should be on mushies still. Our bands are very tricky and I think sometimes there's swelling right after a fill. I hope you feel better soon. Don't forget, if you cannot get liquids to stay down you should call your doctor right away. Take care. Sue
  11. Please call your band surgeon. He'll probably want to see you to give you an unfill. I hope you feel better soon. Sue
  12. Wow! What a great start. Keep up the good work. Sue
  13. Danny - Thanks for the update. Please tell her that her LapBand Talk friends are sending good healing wishes her way. Sue
  14. Josie: Thanks for asking. I went last month and had a check-up. She's pleased with the results and the scar looks light pink and fading more and more. I do have a small dog-ear on one side. She wants me to give it three more months to see if it corrects itself or not and if not she'll fix with a minor procedure in the office. Now I'm focused on trying to find a new job. I got laid off in April and it's a b**&h trying to find a new job. If I get a job at the level I was before I'll be saving up to get the girls done. It's not likely, but I can dream. Unfortunately with the boredom and stress of trying to find a new job I've been grazing. I have now gained 20 pounds since my plastic surgery. I talked to my band surgeon about it this week and I asked if I can come in for weekly weigh-ins until I get a job and get my eating back under control. He's so nice. He gave me his cell phone number and told me to call him any time if I was struggling. When I went in to weigh in yesterday with his office staff I got the same feeling that an alcoholic must get when they go to AA meetings with a hangover. Embarassed, but facing my demons. I'm not changing my ticker because I am going to kick it back down very soon! I cannot wait to see your pics. Take care. Sue
  15. Josie: Glad to hear your six month check up went so well. Take care. Sue
  16. Hi: I had pain at my band site when I was too tight once. It actually hurt every time I swallowed - even liquids. The pain was deep inside behind my rib cage on the left side. I think that is where the band is placed. A slight unfill made the pain stop. I hope you feel better soon. Sue
  17. Allie: I'm jealous because you're going to have the abdomen and the boobs of a 20 year-old! You'll do great. Your positive thoughts will help through this. I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you tomorrow. Good surgery and good recovery to you! Take care. Sue
  18. Jessica: How lucky you are that you will only have one scar and it will be hidden in your belly button. As far as your incision goes, I think the things to worry about are if you are running a fever, if you are having any oozing from the area, and if the area feels hot to the touch. Please call your doctor if you are concerned about it. That's what they get the big bucks for:wink2:. I wish you well on your LAP-BAND® journey. I love my band and my new flat tummy. Sue
  19. Skinnyjeans: Sounds like you definitely overdid it yesterday. My experience was that everytime I overdid it the swelling was horrible. I think that when we swell too much it somehow plays with our hormones and it made me weepy. Please remember that the scars will fade and just end up being a light pink line. Just six months out my scars aren't scary anymore. Rest up and baby yourself because your body went through a big trauma and you need to heal. I know that it's hard to do this, but it will really be best for the long-term results. Once the drains come out you'll feel like a human being again. It's a pain in the butt to have the drains hanging all the time and they are uncomfortable sometimes. They're there to do their job though, so be glad they will be taking that excess Fluid away. Take care. Sue
  20. Allie: I'll be thinking of you on Thursday. I'm sure things will go smoothly. You're going to love having a flat tummy and perky boobs again!:w00t: Congratulations, and please let us know how things go. Take care. Sue
  21. Hi: I had the same experience with my eliptical. It was alot harder than I expected. I did end up working up to a half hour, but I never really liked doing the eliptical. I prefer walking on my hills where I live instead of doing the eliptical. I also found another exercise that I love - trikking. Check it on on www.trikketalk.com. I have the T8 Air model. Lots of fun. Check it out if you have a chance. Sue
  22. Sorry, no advice. I hope you feel better soon. Please let us know what the doctor says so that we can learn from your experience. Take care. Sue
  23. Skinnyjeans: Today's your big day! My thoughts are with you and wishing you a smooth surgery and quick recovery. Let us know how you're doing when you feeling up to it. Take care. Sue
  24. Hi Ladies: I got an email from Potatie. She's doing well, but she has to climb stairs to get on the computer, so she's taking it easy and resting. I just wanted to let you ladies know so that you won't worry like I did. I'm sure she'll update when she's feeling better. Sue
