    I pulled my port!

Hi Patti: I was exhausted for two months. I finally figured out that while I could get used to not eating much I was not able to give up having a coffee in the morning and coffee after my noon-time walk. I never gave up my morning coffee. I recently started my noon-time coffee again. There was no other way I could deal with being so tired. I am exercising 4.5 to 5.5 miles per day and without the afternoon caffeine I was afraid I couldn't keep up the exercise. Now I'm good in the afternoons and am sleeping fine at night. I've seen alot of other postings about this. Everybody else says make sure you're getting enough Protein too. Good luck. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253.5/G-160

Hi Margie: Two months out things are pretty good. I can pretty much tell now how much I can eat without having a problem. However, I just got my first fill today so that's like the rules are changing again. It's amazing how things change. I used to "have to walk", and now I "want to walk". I used to try on something and it was too tight. Now I try things on and they're too loose. I even got to go through a trunk and take out clothes that I put away with hopes that they would fit again. Not only do they fit, but alot of them are loose too! Best wishes to you for a successful banding experience. Take care. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-268.5/G-160

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Hi Lindaa: I did get a fill today. Just about painless and other than having to just have liquids today, mushies tomorrow, and then food on Friday, nothing seems different. I'm certainly looking forward to solid food on Friday to see if anything is different. Thanks. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-258.5/G-160

Lets try that again! Easy is best for me. Breakfast - coffee w/ff flavored cream & instant oatmeal lunch - hard boiled egg and grapes dinner - Hormel's new "compleat" meal - chicken, gravy, and mashed potatoes - only 220 calories, 3g fat, and 21g Protein. Snacks - as usual - sf popsicles - they keep me sane Go Bandsters! Sue Magoo H324/S287/C259/G160

    Lump in Throat

Karen: I was having issues with that too. It's hard to know how much is enough, versus how much is too much. Try to remember how many bites you took when you got the lump and have less next time. I find that when I get the lump if I'm not sliming or pb'ing if I walk around it helps a bit. I'm not sure if it is gravity helping or just that standing stretches out the abdomen more. Good luck, and best wishes for less "lumpy" days. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-261/G160 banded 7/26/07 - not filled yet!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Hi All: I was wondering if anyone else was banded in July and still not filled. I'm so hungry! I'm hoping to get 1st fill on Wednesday, but I'm doubtful because of my conservative doctor. I've lost 6 pounds since I saw him two weeks ago, so my guess is that he still won't fill me. We'll see. :help:Does anyone have any suggestions that I could use to try to convince him that I need to be filled, besides telling him I'm hungry? I'd appreciate all of your input on this. Thanks. Sue Magoo banded 7/26/07 H-324/S-287/C-261/G-160
  8. Melanie: I was banded three days after you. I'm still adjusting to the band, but overall it's going well. I've lost 24 pounds since surgery, and 39 pounds before surgery. Down 63! :clap2:I still haven't had a fill yet. Have you? I'm going to see my surgeon next Wednesday and am hoping to get a fill then. I think he believes in not making any changes if things are going well. I told him two weeks ago that I'm getting hungry, so hopefully that will count for something. How's it been for you? I hope it's going well. I'm on lunch hour so I can't stay on the computer :ranger:long. I have to go for my noon-time walk now. I have been walking 4 - 5 miles (mostly in one-mile increments) every day. Just recently started climbing this huge hill (I call it Heartbreak hill - like the Boston Marathon hill) daily. I'm up to climbing it seven times in a row now. I'm shooting for ten times in a row by October. Good luck and let me know how you're making out.:nervous Best wishes! Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-261/G-160
  9. I know that I saw someone mention them on this forum before, but I couldn't find it. It's something with a b or bbb, something like that. I would appreciate if someone could tell me what those things are that most of the bigget losers wear on their arms. I know that they monitor their activity with them. Thanks in advance for letting me know. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-262.5/G-160

    How Long???

A-Marie. It took about six weeks for me because I had to have the sleep apnea test, nutritionist consult, and psych appointment first. Good luck!
  11. Hi: I went to Dr. Adam Glasgow in Norwood, Ma. He's part of a group "Glasgow and Glasgow". It's a Father,Son group. Adam is the Son and Arthur is the Father. Check out their website at glasgowandglasgow.com. They're experienced, kind doctors. Their office staff is great too. Good luck. Sue Magoo S - 7/26/07 H - 324/S - 287/C- 262.5/G-160

    Is This Normal?

Hi: I am seven weeks out. I haven't had a fill yet either. I got that feeling a couple of times when I didn't chew enough. It's not such a good feeling is it. :eek:I find that if I get up and walk around it seems to help. It's probably gravity helping the food go through the band. Good luck. Edie: Wow! That's terrific. I've only been banded 7 weeks. Any suggestions for us newbies? Sue Magoo

Jude: I wouldn't recommend travelling 12 days after surgery because I had little energy for the first few weeks. In addition, your doctor may not want you to travel. You may still have stitches or staples at 12 days out. Good luck. Sue Magoo Banded 7/26/07 H-324/S-287/C-263.5/G-160

In Need of Suggestions in MA!!!

Heather: I went to Glasgow and Glasgow LLP in Norwood, MA. I have Blue Cross HMO so everything was covered except copays of $500 for hospital and around $200 for the psyche appointment that they require prior to banding. Dr's. Adam and Arthur Glasgow are a Father/Son team. They're both very kind, and their office staff is terrific. They both have alot of experience with this procedure. They have seminars twice a month for lap band candidates. In addition, they have a monthly support group for those already banded. Good luck and I hope all goes well. Any July 07 Bandsters not filled yet?

Thanks Kirajh. Stinks to being hungry doesn't it! Hope the 21st comes fast. I'm now waiting until the 26th. Hoping it happens then. I guess we should just remember that we didn't put it on overnight and it will take time for it to come off. I hope for both of us that the delay doesn't mean some weight gain. I'm going to keep on walking my butt off (3 - 4 miles per day) and I'm going to bed early so that I don't go to the fridge too many times. Good night and good luck. Sensitive Stomach

Shanimal: Good luck with the nausea. I told my doctor that I had issues with nausea. He said he'd fill me full of antinausea medication. Unfortunately I started having dry heaves about six hours after surgery and had them throughout the night in the hospital. My nausea got worse when I tried moving, so staying still is what I suggest. In addition, I don't know if the nausea comes from the morphine or from the anesthesia. I stopped taking any pain medication the night of my surgery and the vomiting stopped a few hours after telling them to take away the pain medication. So, you might want to limit the pain meds. I think that the surgical pain was minor without the vomiting pain on top of it. Good luck. Sue Magoo H 324, S 287, C 268.5, G 160 Banded 7/26/07 No fills yet - hopefully 9/10
  19. I definitely don't have more energy. I've lost 53 pounds in four months, but ever since I was banded (5 weeks ago) I've been exhausted. Particularly since I went back to work (2 weeks after surgery). I'm going to see my surgeon on 9/10 and I'm going to ask what's up. I feel like I'm all healed, but don't have any energy. I always heard that you get more energy from losing weight. Bring it on! Good luck! Sue Magoo

    How Long!!!

Shelli: I gained 9 pounds from surgery. I lost it in six days and then continued downward. Try not to be too discouraged by the temporary gain. I was shocked when it happened to me. I didn't know that this would happen. Now make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Crazy, but fluids take excess fluids away. I try to think of Water being the surfboard that my fat rides out on, so keep on drinking. Good luck. Sue Magoo

Cindy: I'm feeling better now. I did liquids for three days and mushies since then. I hope to try solids on Friday night. Thanks for the update on how they do their fills. I am planning to attend the support group on 9/25. They haven't had one since before I was banded and the last one was on my daughter's 20th birthday, so I didn't go. I hope to see you there. Hopefully I'll be filled on 9/10. Cross fingers. Thanks. Sue Magoo

    Anyone in "bandster hell" yet?

    I feel like I'm in bandster hell. I was sick :cry(major food sticking last Friday - Tuna - Yuck!) and my weight went down to 270 after I was so sick and dehydrated. Tonight I was 273. I was banded on 7/26 and am hoping to be filled on 9/10. I'm hungry. I better go to bed so that I don't eat anything!:help: h - 324/ s - 287/ s+2 days 296 (Fluid???)/ c - 273/ g-164

Hi Cindy We share the same doctor - Dr. Adam Glasgow. I was banded on 7/26/07. Had an issue with solids last week - stuck - pain - xray, ct scan, and barium swallow. End result, I probably wasn't listening to my tummy well enough and either had too much, or too big of a bite. Glad I got past that with Dr. Arthur Glasgow's help because Dr. Adam was on vacation. Can you tell me do the Dr's. Glasgow do their fills using fluoroscopy or not? I'm hoping to get my first fill on 9/10 and just wondering what it's like. Both the doctors and their office staff seem very caring and accomodating so far. Please let me know about the fills if you have a few minutes. Thanks. Sue Magoo banded 7/26/07 h - 324/ s - 287 - s+2 days 296 - now 271 - Yeah!
  24. I'm hoping to have my first fill on 9/10. Can someone please describe the procedure and what it feels like? Thanks.
  25. I don't believe he uses a fluoroscope. Can you please tell me what you know about fills? Thanks.
