  1. Hello! I have a kind of quick question I'd like to throw out there, but a longish back story that I'll try to shorten. Was sleeved on 4/2 and about a month after, I started having dizziness/lightheaded ness several times a day along with fatigue. I attributed it to eating changes. At a check up, my doc was concerned that my pulse was only 43. Tests, holter monitor, EKG, all revealed I had atrial fibrillation presenting as bradycardia. In other words, irregular and slow heartbeat. Average was 50bpm, lowest 31. Saw an electrophysiologist the other day and he told me to out more salt on my food and come back in 4 weeks. He said he thinks I have increased vagal tone from surgery. He said it's very common after WLS. Now the question: is it common? Anyone else here experiencing the same thing? My surgeon was sure stumped, which is alarming if it is indeed that common. And more salt? Seems kind of counterintuitive seeing as how my sodium levels were on the high end of normal range. Thanks for reading this far!

    Rash on arms

Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone else has experienced what's going on with me. I am 12 weeks out, and I have developed a rash on the inside of both forearms. It's worse in the morning and when it gets wet or hot. My PCP didn't have a clue since I have not been in weeds and it isn't spreading. It's been a few weeks with no change in area or severity. I haven't had any changes in lotion, soap, perfume, detergent, nothing since surgery. Surgery (and its subsequent diet) is the only thing that is different. Just wondering if maybe it's a deficiency or a whole body freak out. I see my surgeon for my 3 month check up on Wednesday, so I am hoping he has some reassuring answers. Do any of you? Thanks in advance!!
  3. I'm nearly 4 weeks out and I am still experiencing this a bit. I got REALLY down after surgery and teetered between "What have i done to myself?" and "I got this!" quite a bit. sometimes within the space of 10 minutes. It's helping being back at work and in my routine again, but I have read over and over that this is totally normal. You just put yourself through a lot. And I don't know about you, but before this, if I had been through a lot, food was going to be the thing I used to feel better. I think part of my slump is not having that coping mechanism. Be kind to yourself! It's overwhelming now, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. Keep telling yourself that and fake it 'till you make it.

    Preop Diet Stars NOW!

Awesome!!! I was so nervous about the liquid diet as it was the most extreme diet I was ever on. I had two rough days where I was probably detoxing, and then the rest was actually great. I had tons of energy, my skin looked great, and even my hair was extra shiny. It was totally weird. Hope you have a great experience, too!

    Any April Sleevers?

I'm so sorry, dsmith! That happened to me, too, but it all worked out. I was too busy thinking of the procedure to even THINK about how I hadn't had anything to eat or drink for over 12 hours. I was also allowed to go home the following evening. Best of luck!!! ????
  6. I am 6 days post op (weeeee!) and am beginning to doubt he took anything out. I'm so hungry!! I have friends who are a year out and said they never felt hungry again. I'm feeling discouraged. Any pointers on how to combat this??

    Eating and drinking "rules"

I'm so thirsty all the time!! It's like torture to wait. Good suggestions tho. Thanks!
  8. I'm just home from hospital this morning and was just sleeved 4/2. I was drinking like a champ in the hospital, but today I am having trouble getting in more than 2oz at meal time and then I start to ache and hurt. I can't tell if that means full or just pain from surgery. Am I starving myself right now? Am I damaging my new stomach? Am I ever going to understand what all these aches and pains mean? If anyone could talk me down off the ledge,I would so appreciate it!
  9. You are all so wonderful and reassuring! Thank you so much!! I feel so much better with your advice. THANK YOU!!
  10. I'm still Pre-op, and I'm struck by my increasing anxiety over the whole procedure. I am steadfast in my decision, but I am struggling with this fear that I'm going to fail at this. I have failed everything else I've tried to lose weight - how can this be different? I'm motivated for life change, but there's this little voice in my head reminding me of all the other times I was motivated for change by joining Weight Watchers or a fitness club only to fail at that, too. Post-op people - when does that fear of failing get replaced with the confidence needed to win the fight?? Or does it ever get silenced?

    Fear of Failure

Thank you all so much for the positive energy here!! So glad I'm not the only one facing it. Hearing that my brain will change along with my body is good. I forget that piece and think I will be going it alone without a tool stronger than will power. I'll just take it one day at a time. Good luck to everyone on here about to get sleeved!!

    Any April Sleevers

I'm on target for the second week of April!
  13. I'm glad I'm not the only one debating this topic in my head! I'm a high school teacher, and I'm looking at having the procedure done over Spring Break. I have told a few colleagues I am close to, but I feel adamant about not telling my students. Sometimes it just feels like a little too much information about their teacher. Also, if you think adults are bad with the filter, try 120 sixteen year olds!
