Good morning all! I am adding a few new entries:
DON'T believe the myth that your tool has an expiration date. Yes, it's true you will lose the most weight in the first year and it's also true the farther out you are and the close to goal, the harder it is to lose. However, as long as you keep up with your healthy eating and fitness routines you will continue to lose weight and / or keep it off in the years post op. It all boils down to calories in vs. calories out.
DON'T believe the myth that having WLS will keep the weight off forever. That is our individual responsibility.

Thank God this stall is over. I'm down 3 lbs since Sunday! Hopefully I'll lose 15-20 before the next stall!

I keep trying to just look at one day at a time instead of me having 10 days left. : ( I have to keep my mind busy or I'm miserable. I was home sick today so it hasn't been easy. If I could just sleep for the next 10 days that'd be great lol. I'm from tx. Using a surgeon out of Dallas. U?

I'm scheduled for the 27th too!!! I started my pre-op diet today and it is NOT fun. I know the first couple days are the worst, but I am so hungry and I haven't found a shake that I like yet. Thank goodness for dinner I get 4 oz lean meat plus veggies. Hugs to you!!!!!

I just want to say good luck. It seems like yesterday my husband and I were counting the minutes, hours and days through presurgery, shakes, surgery, post op, shakes, Vitamins, reading and researching, and now it has been 4 months! Just relax and go with it. Paint a room. Re-do your closet. Keep busy. My advice is not to over-buy like I did. Your taste will change. You can buy anything on Amazon and get it in a few days. I have lots of Unjury unflavored Protein for shakes and bought the Unjury chicken Soup, both of which clump if the Water added is too hot. Make sure before you pull out your hair you realize you might have Hair loss, so think twice! I have had no hair loss, but still take Biotin every day. We are so happy we had the sleeve, and are eating out regularly, eating appetizers, or sharing an entree. Life is fabulous. So happy for you! Linda

I just wanted to say thanks to all who have posted. It is so encouraging to read! I am one day one of my pre op diet and want to pull my hair out but I have no energy to do so. My surgery is scheduled for March 27 and I am starting to get nervous. Any advice to get through these next two weeks would be greatly appreciated!

Like Ga Gurl, my liquid diet is ala Sugar Busters. I brew coffee in the morning (that is the only thing that is normal for me from pre-pre-op) and have a bit while I watch the news. Then I put about 1/2 a cup of brewed coffee in the fridge to cool it down while I shower and get ready. When I am ready to head to work, I mix Premiere Vanilla pre-made shake (from Costco) with ice and the 1/2 cup of cooled down coffee. I usually add a little splenda because I like it sweeter. I blend that all up till nice and frothy and sip that on my way to work (30 min drive).
Before my pre-op, I tried Bariatric Advantage powder which was recommended by my surgeon. It sits like a brick in my stomach. I do not like it at all. The Premiere shakes from costco do much better for me. My cousin is a big natural foods chef, and she suggested that I use Fage Fat Free Greek Yogurt to make the smoothies instead of the powders. So, I blend a cup of that with Tomato Soup, or cooked broccoli and broth or even Amy's Organic canned pea Soup to make a more Protein rich soup. It actually tastes quite good, and "eating" something warm breaks up the monotony of the cold shakes.< /p>
I am on day 3 and so far so good. I drink lots of Water throughout the day. I've been practicing managing my stress by just drinking Water instead of what I would normally do which is snack. I've been trying to decide if I am really hungry or just mentally hungry before I have a shake. It sounds funny, but I literally look down at my stomach to make sure it is really hungry. Ha!
