    Surgeons In Kansas

I live in Kansas city Mo, and am currently trying to find a surgeon. I know there are several in Kansas. I know of Dr. Malley, whom I haven't heard anything bad about, Dr. Nigro-whom I've heard nothing but bad things about and Dr. Augustin, whom I haven't really heard much about at all. If anyone has any experience with The Malley Surgical Center or The Weight Loss Surgery Center, please share. I'd like to know which doctor has the greatest success rate and especially which has the best Bedside manner. From what I've heard Dr. Nigro, doesn't have very good bedside manner, doesn't get back to his patients, and even almost lost a patient who had a severe infection from the implements used in her surgery and he was very cold and callus towards her. Please help. Thanks. :help::)

    Where is everyone from?

    Im in KCMO
  3. Hello, I'm a 27 year old single mother of two. I am currently 5'1/ 240. The biggest I have EVER been, and not willing to get any bigger than this. When I saw that my weight and my BMI made me fall into the morbidly obese category, I KNEW I had to do something. I've been researching the lapband for half a year now and I think I am ready to schedule my consult. How has this process gone for those of you who have already been banded? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. THANKS AND GOD BLESS. :help::rolleyes:rolleyes::clap2:

    Surgeons In Kansas

Haven't heard anything on Dr. Augustin, although I read his profile today. I have however heard very negative things about Dr. Nigro. I am part of another online support group through yahoo groups and there is a lady there that was a patient of Dr. Nigro and she's not recommending him. So if they give a choice of who you'd like as your surgeon I think I'm gonna go with Augustin if I choose to go through WLSC

    A lurker no more...

I'd have to agree with the person who said take her to a meeting with you. If she loves you and wants the best for you, she will see how much this means to you and support you regardless of what she feels. Love makes sacrafices. Maybe she's afraid to change, because she knows that once you change, she may have to also... Change is hard for some. Any way best of luck
  8. thanks so much. Hopefully I can schedule my consult for september... like early september. If possible I'd like to get banded by years end. Anyone get banded in kansas?
  9. I suggested it because if you are anything like me, you like to know before hand EXACTLY what to expect from step one to the finale . Watching the video for me helped me to decide that this is infact what I want to do. It was the deal breaker for me.

    Hey There :D

Introductions suck. I'm in the same boat as you are, some things I've read and seen here though, helped me to decide that I am ready to make the commitment to change my life. Now to get this process started. Lol. Wishing you well in your journey.
  11. Wow. You all are an encouragement, and after watching the video, and doing the research, I believe I am ready. I am not an emotional eater, in fact I am the opposite, I don't eat when I am down. That has been more of a problem for me than over eating has been. I chose to do an online seminar for the place where I will hopefully be banded so that is already out of the way, now I just have to go to my initial consultation. What happens at that very first appointment? Anybody? Good luck to all of you.
  12. I watched the video thats posted on this site about the surgery. That gave me a little more insight and info, I'd watch it if I was you.
  13. This is a personal decision. One you have to be comfortable enough to make. If you are comfortable enough to go through with the surgery, why would you be concerned with someone judging you for choosing to be healthy instead of unhealthy, regardless of how you chose to get that way? Lapband, is only a tool, you still have to work at it so if you said that you cut back on eating and began to excercise you would not be lying. Besides this is no one's business but your own, you don't owe anyone but yourself and God an explanation. As far as your parents, tell them you are having a simple outpatient procedure. Thats not totally a lie, if you dont want to go into details...then don't. Thats my $.02
