A note for those of you who are pre-op or a few weeks post-op... I've lost my desire for pizza altogether now. My entire life, pizza was BY FAR my favorite food. I would literally eat it every day if I could (and for some periods of my life, I did!). It was the thing I was most desperate to have again once I was back on solid foods. Well, I tried it a few times and it does NOTHING for me now. I think a big part of it is that I can't eat much at all and pizza was definitely a binge food for me before. It's not as satisfying when you can only eat one piece or the toppings off two pieces. Plus, I know it doesn't give me the Protein I need and I'm all about protein first these days!

Call me crazy but I signed up for Muck Fest NJ in June. It's a 5k mud obstacle course. I've got a couple of crazy friends who say they'll do it with me, but we'll have to see if that plays out.
To train for it, I'm trying to build upper body and grip strength. I'm a mouse jockey (sit at a computer all day) and I have SUCH weak arms! I need to be able to pull myself up ropes and hang onto things to swing out to jump in muddy Water.
This is SO out of my comfort zone -- makes it a fun challenge to even consider!

It fits! 11 days post op! My husband says it's cold try on your Columbia jacket of which I Haven't worn for two winters cuz it didn't fit- I said no no no...feeling bad cuz he bought it for me. Well I put it on (without my heavy cardigan) and it zipped with ease! Feeling hopeful and less round in the middle!
    Success success success. Feeling good.

Thank you everyone. I love how supportive of each other everyone is on this site.
I also had another realization today as I was walking through the mall, headed towards Victoria's Secret. It was the first time I had been in the mall since surgery .... But it just dawned on me that I didn't have only 2 stores to choose from (Lane Bryant and Torrid) if I wanted to buy clothes. I could buy clothes that fit at ANY STORE IN THE MALL!!!!! My mind is just blown today.

First came Onederland, then I have been waiting for the triple digit weight loss total. TODAY WAS THE DAY!!! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! I'm going to go today and get measured for and buy a new bra in celebration. (I have no idea what size I am now and none of my old bras fit.)
Did anyone else do something special (that didn't involve food ) when reaching milestones?
And OMG, I just noticed that by my BMI, I am no longer classified as obese!!! Whaaaaa? Best. Day. EVER!!!!!!!

I would like you to sit down before reading this as I do not want you to fall down and bump your head.
    Are you sitting?
    Are you sure?
I think your plea to speak out is a great one. I did not see the episode because I disagree with the premise of the show. I think it's setting up the contestants for failure and it's setting up unrealistic expectations on what is "normal" as far as diet, exercise and rate of weight loss for it's viewership.
I watch it occasionally, but I use it as a learning tool for my children to reiterate the how ridiculous it is to put one's body through that type of regimen.
Social media is a great tool and I hope that enough people speak out against this show that they actually HEAR the damage that they are doing. I hope they soon refocus their efforts and promote healthier, more sustainable weight loss.
    That said...
I think your method of communication is aggressive, totally ruining your message and your credibility. Your first words are "You people are crap." You followed that up with "You should be disgusted at yourselves" and "GO TO HELL! ". You then leave them with the request that they "Tell Dr Negligent to stick it where his stethoscope don't shine."
I understand that you are passionate about WLS and this topic is a hot button for you. That said, do you think that anyone is going to take you seriously when you argue in that manner?
I am NOT trying to be disrespectful to you, I swear. I am simply offering you a bit of (unwelcome and unasked for) coaching. It's my OPINION that you will garner much more support and attention by utilizing professional words and a calm demeanor.
I know when I work with my clients, I am much more willing to discuss issues with those who approach me calmly, politely and professionally than with those who come to me having what amounts to the temper tantrum I equate to toddler-like.
Again, I am not trying to offend you. I agree with you. I am simply asking you to consider your words when you speak for the WLS community. It doesn't make us look good.

Nothing. Little sore for a couple days, but other than that not a thing. Didn't even need pain meds. Eating was not an issue either. I'm careful to track and measure everything. Sleeved October 8. Down 80 lbs. Got blood work back couple weeks ago and everything is great! Had another sleep study two weeks ago. Met with the sleep doc last week. OSA is gone. And so is the CPAP. Life is good.

4 weeks after I had the sleeve, I had a small leak that they think happened from a small ulcer that formed on the incision on my stomach. I ended up having a 2nd surgery. It was a bit of a scary ordeal. I had a drain put in, was not allowed to eat for 5 days - but was hooked up to TPN (IV nutrients/lipids), had so many tests and procedures to try and find out what was going on and why. I was in the hospital for 6 days.
About 2 weeks later I ended up back in the hospital with a kidney infection that was a result of not being able to get in enough fluids to flush my kidneys properly. So I was back in the hospital for another 2 days.
With the complications that I did have put aside - I have had a fantastic experience and results from having the sleeve done. I have been very happy and pleased with my results, and have progressed very well. My doctors are all very happy and pleased with my progress. At my 6 month post op appointment I had already meet their 1 year goal for weight loss.
I had a rocky start but am so very happy I had the sleeve done and never have regretted getting it done.

@@aroundhky - I use myfitnesspal & mapmyrun apps. They are helpful to track activity and calories in, but I doubt I burn as many calories as it shows. I use mapmyrun more as a journal with my PR's, ME's and time for Crossfit. It's helpful to look back on it. I also like it for the GPS when I do go running (When it's not 7 degrees outside), I find its very accurate which is great. Im on the fence about buying into a FitBit type of device though. Would love to see more feedback and experience on these items.

    Hi Alex
My gastric sleeve surgery procedure went without a hitch, except for the blood clot I developed post surgery. There was nothing to indicate I would be a problem. No extraordinary precautions were taken ahead of time. The blood clot started in my leg and progressed to become a pulmonary embolism. I spent two weeks in the hospital, one of which was in the Cardiac Intensive Care at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, MA. I count myself as very fortunate. I am thankful that my surgery was at a Bariatric Center of Excellence with a level one Trauma Center. Happily there do not appear to be any lasting issues related to the clot.

@@ProjectMe - check to see if the Crossfit gym near you has a beginners class. My box, has what they call an "On Ramp" class. They meet twice a week for a month, to learn the basic lifts, different equipment, positions, terms etc. I found this so very helpful when I started, to go into a regular WOD with a bit more knowledge! Best of luck - it becomes addicting but oh so very rewarding!! When you go - let me know how it goes!

The rice may be too much for your tummy to handle. Try straining your creamed Soups.
