  1. Jogged/Walked the Ronald McDonald House 5K last night! 51minutes (15 min/mile).

Nah! No early gym today. I'm taking today off from the gym. Might go for a walk on my lunch break if the rain holds off. But i'll be back at it tomorrow morning! :) That's great you are training for a 5k. I plan on doing the Biggest Loser 5K in late August - going to try to work my way to jogging a decent part of it. Good luck with the trainer today!! :)

Try one of the couch to 5K programs. I have hesitated forever on doing it saying "I'm not a runner..." Turns out when you're dropping weight, running is a lot easier! I'm doing the Zombies, Run 5K program and so far in the first week it's very doable. You walk 10 minutes, alternate 15 seconds of running with 1 minute walking 10 times, then walk/run however you'd like the last 10 minutes. Most people can shuffle-run along for 15 seconds. I'm looking forward to amping it up on next weeks missions.

I'll have to look into that. I have thought about doing the couch to 5k but when I was close to 300lbs - just walking was a challenge at times. So now that I am down quite a bit - it may be a bit easier (maybe...lol). :) I did jog almost a quarter mile last night - TWICE! (did I feel like I was going to die after it - yes - but I kept moving with the rest of the race.

      Ginger Snaps

You've done great over the past few days but it's also important to listen to your body sometimes and say "I need rest this morning" instead of forcing a workout. I just try not to do it too many days! :)

      You rock!

    2. Zoey716

      Zoey716

Thank you!! I would have gone this morning but was out late babysitting my nieces last night, and just wasn't going to make it! But you're right - I was quite tired and enjoyed the extra sleep (even if it was just 1 hour!) :)

You are rocking this! Once you get in the habit of getting up early and exercising first thing, it will become easier and easier. I took the morning off today because I'm having some low back pain and felt like I needed a rest day.

      Zoey716

It's definitely tough! But I know if I go first thing in the morning, I can't spend the rest of the day creating excuses or reasons as to why I can't go. Over and done with by 6:30 am! :)

    2. Ginger Snaps

      Ginger Snaps

I agree Zoey and another thing -- after I make the effort to get up and go to the gym so early, I eat healthier during the day so I won't feel like I wasted all that exercise! :)

    3. Zoey716

      Zoey716

EXACTLY!! I am WAY more conscious of what I eat during the day! Don't want to ruin my workout!!

    2. Zoey716

      Zoey716

My scale sits still usually for about 7-8 days and then it drops. :/ Are you getting in enough calories? How have you been feeling?

    3. alxmak1021

      alxmak1021

I am doing about 500- 600 calories as of right now. protein is usually 50-60?? I am feeling great. I feel like I am retaining water, but my sodium isn't high either. I know everyone stalls. it is frustrating. I have lost 20lbs from surgery. 35lbs total from pre op. I am little over a month along. I wonder if I am one of those slow losers.

  13. Feeling proud of myself for making this change and becoming a healthier me! :)

  23. 3 weeks since surgery and i'm down 38lbs! Woot!!

    1. alxmak1021

      alxmak1021

@Zoey716 Thank you so much!! I am sure I will be bugging you if you don't mind? A couple right off the back. Did you use the bariatric fusion shakes? I see you hospital stay was 3 days.. Cavaretta told me 2?

    2. Zoey716

      Zoey716

@alxmak1021 - I used bariatric fusion vanilla. It's best if you blend it in a blender. Comes out MUCH better. I also added sugar free flavored syrup (like coffee syrups). I also drank Pure Protein with added fiber. They sell them at Target for 7.99 (coupon in this weeks newspaper for $1 off!). They only have vanilla and chocolate and they are both good. The nutritional break down was pretty close to the fusion shakes so Synergy gave me the go ahead to split them. I drank half fusion and half pure protein.

I stayed in the hospital for 3 days because I had a bad reaction to the pain meds. I had horrible nausea and dry heaves for 2 1/2 days until we figured out it was the pain meds causing it. As soon as those stopped, I started to improve. I was also dealing with stomach spasms, which wasn't much fun. When i went home I was on anti nausea meds, a pill for the spasms, prilosec, and extra strength tylenol. Pills can be tough on your little sensitive tummy. Look for liquid extra strength tylenol. They sell it at CVS (their brand). Works great and it's one less pill to swallow! :)

    3. alxmak1021

      alxmak1021

@Zoey716 A friend of mine also suggested to buy the vanilla, so you can doctor it up a little with the syrups. I remember one of your posts saying that you were having a rough time but did not regret having it done. Thank you for being so helpful. :)

Feeling OK. Still rather uncomfortable. I get spasms randomly through out the day and sleeping is proven to be challenging. However I am still very glad that I had the surgery.
