    Stomach cramps

Cuc's are a gassy food and if they are not peeled then your tummy may be having trouble breaking it down. It may have just been too much for your tiny tummy to handle. The first time I tried a scrambled egg after surgery, I was sick ALLLLL day. I would call your doctor if you are still having this much trouble and especially if you are fearful of becoming dehydrated. Take care of yourself!
  3. Perfect! Going to print this out and put in on my fridge!! Thanks for sharing.

@alxmak1021 - I had a general dr's appointment yesterday. I go for my 6 month check up in a couple weeks! Hoping to be down a couple more lbs by then. @Ginger Snaps - I def weigh myself first thing in the morning (with nothing on...lol) and my appointment was at 4PM! So I know there was going to be a difference... but it was like a 6lbs difference! :/

It's just a number Zoey. Forget it. I have the same thing. The other day, I weighed myself also in the AM and with no clothes. My scale said 122 lbs. and when I went to the doctor, the scale was 126. Don't sweat it as long as the number keeps going down.

Just before I go to the hospital for my check-up I weight myself at home wearing the same clothes/shoes that I will wear while being weighed at the hospital. It so happens that their scales weigh lighter than mine by a couple of kilos usually and theirs should be more accurate so that gives me a boost!

    Leaks

This is a question you should be asking your surgeon. However, I will speak from my experience. I had what they think was a small leak 4 weeks post op. I ended back in the OR for emergency surgery, where they then couldn't find the leak because my stomach was so inflamed. I was in the hospital for almost a week, on IV antibiotics, fluids, and had a PICC line for nutrients (lipids). I was not allowed to eat anything for 5 days because they weren't sure if I would have to have an additional surgery. After a battery of tests they still couldn't determine if I had a leak or if I had an ulcer that formed on the incision line that had ruptured. I was a rare case. My surgeon, who is beyond excellent, told me that he has never had anyone with the situation that I had. And most certainly never had anyone with a leak so far out from surgery. He and his team were quite concerned for my well being and have been great with their follow up care. Now, almost 6 months after I was sleeved, I am healed and healthy and am already surpassing their goals for me at this stage in the game. Please talk extensively with your surgeon and/or his team about your concerns and questions regarding this surgery. Best of luck to you!!

This sounds like jealousy! Some people can't take the success of others. Also, because they fear things, like Crossfit, they have to bash it. Screw 'em! Nothing taste sweeter than success!

Take up kickboxing and kick their butts! I'm very impressed you're going to try CrossFit. It appears brutal to me! lol But if that's your game and what you want to at least try, GO FOR IT! Even if you try it and find it's too hard or you don't like it or whatever, you've burned way more calories just trying than they have by giving you a hard time!

My 15 yo son was (I thinking jokingly) making fun of me for having to walk some of the 5k run the other day. He said he would never "quit". I said I didn't "quit", I finished even if I had to walk some. He said walking was quitting. So, I told him walking/running was better than not starting and I had done WAY more than he did not even starting the race. He kind of quieted down then! lol

    Help!

My doc didn't want me worrying about Protein right after surgery. He was more concerned about Fluid intake. I went home on Clear liquids and super soft foods (cream of wheat, yogurt, Soup etc). At my 2 week post op appointment is when they started stressing increasing my protein. I didn't have much trouble with gas (try GasX - I heard that helps a lot of WLS patients), but I did not have a BM for quite a few days after surgery. I started adding Benefiber to drinks and broth to help - and it did! If you are concerned with anything post op - call your doc! That's what they are there for!! Hope you get some relief soon!

    Salad's How Long ? !

I started eating salad about 3 months post op. Didn't really have any trouble with it. I don't eat raw carrots or celery as they are too tough still. I always pair my salad with a Protein - chicken or tuna. I would say try eating a very small salad (few pieces), and see how your tummy handles it. If you feel ok - next time try a little more.
  15. Signing up for Crossfit!! I start next Thursday!! Eeeks!! :)

@aroundhky - Thanks! I am taking a "On Ramp" class for the next month. Its a smaller class size (about 6 people and 2 coaches), where they teach the different lifts, techniques, posture, grips etc etc. I went last night to watch the class to get an idea of what I'm about to jump into. :) I'll def be looking up more info this weekend so I am more familiar with terminology for sure. :)

    menstration during surgery

I had my period the week of surgery and my surgeon didn't have a problem with me wearing a tampon. They put extra bed pads under me just in case but not once did i feel uncomfortable or uneasy about having it during surgery. So sorry you've had a bad experience in the past. But I do agree with the others...just let your doc know. No biggie.

I haven't exercised in over a week now... really hurt my hip somehow and it's still very inflammed. I'm trying to let it rest but I think I may try some treadmill walking tomorrow to see if I can take it. I was supposed to walk/run a 5k this weekend. May end up just going to pick up the tshirt :(

You too... I was running with zombies around the same time... NOTE TO SELF: Don't run with Zombies just before a 12 hour drive. I stopped and stretched frequently (looked weird at rest stops) but still, my legs are SO SORE this morning! :)

      You are doing great!

    Post-op Exercise

Hi @Geoff - your doctor will clear you when it is medically appropriate for you to return to exercise. Right after surgery- likely a few hours after, your doctor will have you up and walking around. This is to help prevent blood clots, pneumonia, and to move the air around that will be in your gut (read: gas). I started walking daily after surgery to just get moving. However, I waited the 2 1/2 months (as my surgeon suggested) before I started any weights or any ab/core activity. Once you are cleared to exercise - make sure you are doing what you enjoy. Cardio is a great place to start. Walking, elliptical, biking, swimming etc. Start by doing a little each day. Then each week - add a little more time or distance. Weight training will be key to help tone areas that will be troublesome once you start losing all of this weight. Weight training will also help you burn more calories longer than cardio. Be patient with yourself as you build strength and endurance. Best of luck to you!!
  25. 2.26 mile walk/jog last night, followed by 50 min of upperbody strength training. Feel great - sore but great!
