    Band troubles

So, I went to the Dr. today. I was supposed to have 9.4 cc's in my band and I had 1 cc. So there is a leak that they cannot find. So this means either have the bamd removed or replaced. The Dr. told me since my band is from 2005, the newer one is better. I have decided to have it replaced and now am excited.

    Band troubles

I was banded May 2005. I have never LET myself have much success with my band. Just when I lost about 30 lbs and was heading the right way, boom not a drop of restriction. Went to the dr, they insisted i needed a fill, left there, again no restriction. So i waited a couple weeks, then MADE them check me under flouro. Sure enough, had 1.3cc's when I was supposed to have 9.6cc's. They looked for a leak under flouro and nothing showed. He did feel that my port had flipped and was able to flip it back by hand right there under flouro. I have been on pain meds since he did that for pain at that port site. So flipped port, no saline, but no leak, and not a drop of restriction even after he filled it back up the day he flipped the port. He told me then that he may have to go in and stitch the port in place IF i hold the saline in my band until I see him next, which is on Friday. I know it hasnt held bc i have no restriction at all. So he said if that was the case then the whole system might need to be replaced. I am hesitant bc i havent had success at all, but maybe the band has always been faulty? I have been considering the bypass if he can take the band out and do the bypass in one shot. But i dont think i can take that risk. I want the band to work for me. I have treated my band horribly, soda, NSAIDS, now I am getting paid back from it. I think I am going to have it replace if thats what he says i need to do, which I am about 85% sure he will tell me that. We will see. Thanks for listening.
  5. Ok here is my story. I was banded in May of 05. I have never LET myself LET the band work for me. I started out at 260, I am 271, been all the way to 218..... Band is too tight, then not tight enough. So in August I was like ok....got it tight, had perfect restriction, lost about 20 lbs in a couple months....then no restriction at all. I mean I could eat a Big Mac if I wanted and I have not been able to eat bread since I was banded. So I went and had band tightened and the dr didnt seem concerned. That was early Nov and I still have no restriction. I mean NONE. Hungry all the time, can eat anything and as much as I did before being banded. The only signs I notice are diarrea, acid reflux, and heartburn. Not all the time, but enough for me to notice. I think I am going to wait until after the holidays to deal with all this but I am sure there is something wrong. I was banded in FL and live in SC now seeing a Dr in Charlotte. Any suggestions, ideas, questions, let me know. Thanks

I want to be totally UNFILLED!!!

The reason I want to be unfilled and make a decison on my next move is it seems like the only food I can get down is JUNK JUNK. No good solid protein goes down good. I know I must be too tight with the atmosphere change of moving from Florida to SC. Since the move I am back to 246. YUck. I just need a break from the band. I have other medical issues to deal with as well. Thanks for your help.
  7. :phanvan Ok I need some advice....I want to be totally unfilled. I want some time to decide wether I want the band removed or not. I was banded by Dr Szomstein in South Florida, and now live in South Carolina. So i need a dr here. It can be near Greenville SC or Charlotte NC. I live in between them!!!! Thanks so much!:help:

Is anyone sorry they had the lapband surgery?

It is not something someone can "talk u into" It is a very personal decision and should be made by u and u alone. Good luck.

    Advice Before UnBanded

Hello. I WAS a regular member here. This past year has brought me many changes. Sept of 05' I dealt with an addiction to painpills from a serious knee injury. At that point (4 months after being banded) I had lost about 30 lbs. In December, we decided to move from Florida to North Carolina. All summer was spent in and out of town for my husband's work and vacationing. I have gained ALL the weight back at my own fault. I am SERIOUSLY considering being Unbanded due to I guess, my own fault. I want to lose the weight, about 80 lbs in all. I go for all the wrong foods and I KNOW i eat too much. Sometimes have a hard time going down but have only PB'ed twice in over a year. I don't want to look at this as a failure but I just don't seem to have the will to do it. I have come this far, yet I still eat wrong. I drink sweet tea, take NSAIDS, self sabotager. I know I can stop. It seems to me as I went from a pain pill addiction to a food addiction. I really don't want to be unbanded. I REALLy would love a scheduled diet of exactly what I eat every day and then attempt to follow it. I know if I set my mind to it 100% I can do it. Meanwhile I need a doctor in the Gastonia area. Maybe a nutritionist. Any advice is welcome. Thanks.
  13. Hi We are moving to South Carolina from Florida in the next month. I am going to need a doctor there for fills and check ups and whatnot. Anyone have any advice on a good one? I am kind of spoiled, mine here is AWESOME!!!!!!! Let me know if anyone knows of any!! Thanks.

    Something's Not Right

I was banded last year in May. i suck at this, lol. I haven't lost anything in forever. I do the things I am not supposed to do. Soda, NSAIDS......I feel like a self-sabotager. BUT that is not my problem, at least not right now. My chest hurts. Right in the center where my band is. I can eat fine and keep things down. I know it has something to do with the band, I just dont know what. My shoulders hurt and it hurts when I breathe hard or lay down suddenly. Anyone have a clue? Dont get me wrong, I am not on here whining that I am in this predictament. I just want to know if I should be overly concerned. Do I need to call the dr? Is this a sign of something? Thanks for any ideas!
