I spent a few days at 237 and now a couple of days at 236 so not sure why the major slow down. I'm putting away my scale amd only going to weigh once a week on Fri morning from now on. Seeing Nut today so maybe she'll have some ideas for letting my metabolism up.

Still fuzzy here too, mostly mixing up common words and drawing a blank on peoples names. Working from home so mostly able to disguise it.
Saw my doc today and he says I'm doing great except for my allergic reaction to incision adhesive. He thinks, because of my height and frame, my goal weight should be 150 and I might not like the way I look if I went below that. He thinks I should be able to lose 40 pounds my first 3 months after surgery and I told him my goal was 60 so hopefully I'll end up somewhere in the middle!
I can ride my bike now so will go out tomorrow and have some fun burning calories.
Had a great dinner of some mashed up avacado with garlic salt, pepper, dry basil, a bit of olive oil and a dash of balsamic. Yum! One day, when I'm eating more than a couple of Tbsp per meal, I think this mixture would be nice on a piece of turkey lunch meat rolled up.

Hello all! I was sleeved on May 28th. I'm two weeks out now and am down 27lbs. One more week of liquids and then I can start on soft mushy food(yes!!!). I've had no trouble at all with anything. No pain, no aches, and I've really been wanting to get back in the gym. I'm going to settle for walks for now though. This process is so exciting and I'm happy to share with others who are going though it too. Congratulations and a big hello to all new sleevers!!

I like Atkins mocha latte and strawberry banana. I ordered three Unjury flavors and want to start mixing my own. Saw where I can mix my 1% milk with strawberry Protein Powder and a Tbsp of sugar free cheesecake pudding mix. How yum does that sound? Im going to be mixing Protein Drinks like a crazy chemist since I don't eat Breakfast so will be drinking them for quite awhile!

I shared with my family and closest friends because I wanted to include them in the process and since I was taking the time to learn more about the surgery, it gave me a chance to explain it to them too.
Casual friends I told I was having some stomach surgery and left it at that. One co-worker asked me whether it was WLS and since she's over-weight I told her it was. She shared some of her mom's experience and asked me if she could ask me questions about the surgery and process, etc. If I hadn't been honest with her, I would have lost the opportunity to help her.
I figure if someone is going to be negative, they are probably already finding things to talk about me behind my back now so, either way, they'll be negative and criticize. You can't change some people. If someone asks, I tell them I had health concerns and this was the best way to help ensure I lead a long and healthy life. They might say it's the easy way out, so let them. Their words can't hurt you and who cares if something is easy or hard, as long as it works.
I guess, in short, supportive people will like you either way and the critical ones are already talking about you. If you say you are having doctor recommended surgery to improve your health, why would someone argue. They might ask if you tried ww, cause their sister's cousin's next door neighbor did well with it or some other weight loss program. I tell them that they do work and help but this is what my doctor recommended and my insurance co. agreed. Basically, I have a smaller stomach, nothing real radical. I don't see anyone having a debate when someone has a hysterectomy...
I guess I feel like meeting people head on is easier on me in the long run. I don't ask for people's opinion on how I live, vacation or my health choices and I don't plan to start now.
If you had a hernia operation, you can always say that the health problem was a wake up call for you and somehow the hernia repair has made you less hungry. You don't owe them more than that.
As always, my two cents! Hey, I'm only 5 days out of surgery so it's pretty real to me every day!

I can't wait to discuss my Constipation with my doc during 2 week check tomorrow!
Diet going well. Visited the "world according to eggface" and can't stop reading tips and recipes. I need to buy some sugar free Torani Syrup and pudding mix to start making some rocking Protein shakes. Just got my powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury delivery today; chicken, chocolate and strawberry.
dinner tonight was some Unjury chicken Protein powder mixed with refried Beans and heated with some cheese melted on top and a dollop of salsa. I stuck to my recommended 2 Tbsp per meal and felt great afterwards and not too full. My lunch was a Tbsp of applesauce and a Tbsp of mix of Peanut Butter and mashed banana. Yum and no gurgles or too-full feeling.
I'm drinking, drinking, drinking Water and love the Crystal Light Pure flavor packets that sweeten with Truvia. I like kiwi strawberry and lemonade but they have grape too. I'm not fond of sweets so inonly use half a flavor tube per 16 ounces of Water.< /p>
I'm bored with walking and want to ride my beach bike. I'll ask if it's ok to start riding. Today I was working from home but took some time out to rest and watch a Harry Potter movie. I decided to work my way through the series during my surgery recovery.
Can't wait to check in tomorrow. I'll let him know that I'm already down a size. I won't be buying any more size 20!

After 3 days at the same weight, I'm down another pound today, 13 total since surgery on 5-29! What's great is that I'm down 33 pounds from my highest weight of 270 when I weighed last March. I think I'll try on those size 20 clothes today and see what I can get rid of.
Funny that I only used to weigh once per month or so, when forced to by a nurse, with my eyes averted. Now, I'm weighing each morning during these early days after surgery but at some point I think I'll just weigh once per week to keep track of progress.
Now, to get rid of the itching from allergic reaction around incisions and take care of the little problem of constipation...

Surgery today and I slept on and off all day afterwards. I had some incision and gas pain but expected it. I used my pain pump sometimes and even managed to stand up and walk to the toilet but then the gas shifted and I felt nauseous and pain and had to sit. I managed to wall around the room a bit more amd the gas pain isn't too bad. My doc suctions it back out after surgery to try and minimize impact but I still burp frequently.
Now I'm sipping chicken broth from a small, plastic shot glass and will rest again before it's time to drink.
The ice chips and warmed blankets are life- savers.

Good for you, same here. I was going to jump ahead to yogurt but decided to just increase servings of Protein Shake. Down 2 more pounds today, drinking liquids and walking. I'm going to find different Protein Drinks and mix it up by adding Protein Powder. Last night I added strawberry powder to chocolate shake and it was tasty.

Weird, I think I have hunger pangs tonight, even after all of my Protein today. Kind of funny that my new little tummy thinks it's ready to tackle food. I'm just sipping Water until bedtime but maybe I'll try a little high-protein yogurt tomorrow and see how it handles it.
I didn't expect this development and thought my stomach was still in full-on healing mode, but I'm a veteran of the diet wars and a hungry stomach doesn't scare me. Take a number, tiny tummy, a bigger stomach than yours has growled at me for years so you can just dial yourself back and follow the nutritionist's program.
    Stay tuned...

Seems like everywhere I go there is an image of some kind of food with melted, gooey cheese or something similar. Im playing every mental trick I know to tell myself it isn't any good and I love my shakes. Lucky me, I get to have chocolate shakes every day...
Until this surgery, I never noticed how many cooking shows my husband and I watch on food network and other stations. Seriously, way too many shows on eating. I'll say this, if you value your sanity, leave the room when Diners, Drive-ins and Dives comes on. Just sayin...

Every day I think about my surgery and alternate between relief that it is almost here and doubt that I'm doing the right thing. I tell myself that cutting away most of a perfectly normal organ is no big deal and the surgery is pretty routine by now. Then I wonder what my new normal will feel like once I get through my recovery period. I think that is the part that causes the most anxiety for me; who will I be once the majority of the weight loss is past and the novelty has worn off? Will I have some kind of normal life or will I never feel like myself again? Does anyone else feel like this?
Then I kick myself because I've been working towards this surgery since last Nov so I'm going to make it work and try not to worry about possible future anxiety. I dont know if anyone else did this, but during my 6 months of supervised weight loss, I didn't take it seriously at first, and considered it just part of the hoops I had to jump through for insurance. I gained a few pounds here and there and got a serious warning after the surgery class at the hospital where they told us that weight gain at this time could be grounds for a denial. I began my diet and managed to drop 10 pounds by my final doctor appt but I was worried before that weigh-in.
Now I'm 3 days in to my pre-surgery diet and I got a bit of a late start due to work travel. I missed the first 3 days of my diet but have been determined to make it up since the goal is to have a less fatty liver so no cheating during these 7 days. I thought this would be harder but I'm doing pretty well I think. I can't take some of my Vitamins but I'm not as hungry as I thought I'd be. I think I've sort of psyched myself into this liquids and one small meal zone so that food isn't really an issue for now. Feels like that could change any time but I'll take my victories where I find them. Went to dinner with my family last night, an italian place, but I was up to the challenge. I would rather get creative with menu choices than tell my husband no dinners out. We all needed this time to hang out together. I ordered a half-size spinach salad with grilled chicken and skipped the bread and I felt great and salad was good. After surgery I'm taking two weeks off from eating out at restaurants but pre-surgery I have more menu options.
I think this is the point where some might be tempted to cancel surgery because weight loss is going well. Did anyone cancel their surgery less than a week out? This must be diet amnesia because I'm sure we've all been on diets where we lost and gained it back. I know that I couldn't sustain this forever on my own and would invent a reason not to continue with a diet (vacation, stress at work, travel, family issues, etc) I think the success of this surgery is that we don't have to worry about weak willpower and failure. I'm lucky that I don't really have a sweet tooth but I'll probably have a pizza or burrito attack at some point. Right now, I'm living on every type of low or no sugar drinks and Atkins shakes. I like the Atkins shakes but I need to remember to order the powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein for after surgery...
What sustains me are the success stories here where so many have lost weight and feel great. All of the medical statistics in the world can't compete with these real-life stories and I thank you all for sharing. I'm trying to keep up with this tradition and promise full disclosure along the way. My pre-op appt. is this Wed and surgery Thurs. Strangly, after reading other stories, I'm most worried about the gas pains! I wonder how soon after surgery I can drive and will feel like going out. I haven't seen many details so would love to hear what I might expect.
I'm hoping for another significant weight loss this Wed and will share my experience. To those just starting out, hang on, it's a bit of an emotional roller coaster!

I'm down 12 pounds since surgery to 238, and 32 pounds overall. My rings are loose but staying on my fingers so far. I had a couple tablespoons Peanut Butter and mashed banana but even though I eat tiny little bites, I'm eating them too fast and causing major stomach gurgles. I thought not drinking with meals would be the hardest thing to do but earing slower has jumped to the top of the list.
Here's a weird thing, my incisions have started itching the past few days but I expected that since they are healing. However, it's almost like the incision areas are going through some kind of allergic reaction. They're all red, but not like with an infection, but red and some reddish bumps and really itchyskin around the perimeter of the incisions. I don't have a fever or pain and no pus or any signs of infection, but almost like the skin is irritated. Guess I'll try to get in on Monday morning to have them checked out.
Went to Wendys with family today and weird that nothing sounds amazing to me. I ordered a grilled chicken wrap, opened it up and pulled a little bit of the chicken apart into little pieces and ate little bites of chicken and some of the cheese and was full pretty quick so I stopped. I thought the first meal of non-measured food, I thought I would have a hard time figuring out how much to eat. Thank goodness my tummy was ready to provide warning gurgles to warn me to stop!

Thanks, good info. That gurgling does kind of sounds the way a drink does when poured through a funnel. I hate it when I forget to take a small drink and it backs up a bit.
