  1. I am just starting to recognize the loose skin like I have the bat wings under my arms, and my bust has gotten much smaller. I know if I loose another 100 pounds I will have tummy loose skin as well. I have been wearing lingerie for a long time so I hide it well with corsets. I think it comes down to the guy, if he has been with you since you had surgery then I think he will get just as turned on as much as when you where at your highest weight. My boyfriend has told me multiple times that I turn him on regardless of my weight. Which makes me gush over him even more. I have found that my sex drive has gotten ten times higher with loosing weight than it was a 100 pounds ago. Thats my mans only complaint lately

    Abnormal Periods

So I am not the only one! I had a period for 3 1/2 months strong. I found out after many tests and doctors visits this is caused from all the hormones that hide in your fat cells and once you loose that fat those hormones are set free. Also, learned that when you had your menstruation cycle before you lost weight you might have not been releasing eggs like normal. So this period you are on now could be releasing the eggs that you were suppose to be loosing. I had to go on hormone therapy for a while and then found out that I am fertile myrtle and I had way too many eggs for the age I was. So that was another root cause why I was having a horrid heavy 3 1/2 period. I also had to go on extra Iron as well because I was becoming anemic. Defiantly meet with your doctor and as well with your OB to see if they can do a pelvic ultra sound so they can see whats going on.
  3. This got me to think, I would say my root cause to my obesity is both genetic and that I am addicted to food. Ever since I was little I have been the big kid. I come from a family who was obese. My grandpa was 500 pound man, my mom was overweight, and multiple other family members as well. Also addiction runs in my family, so the whole addiction part is what gets me today. I love food like an alcoholic loves liquor. It has always been that way up till now. Addiction runs in my family as well with many different vices. My vice and my downfall is food. It is a comfort in all of its glory. I saw my grandpa with the same addiction tragically lost his battle back when I was a sophomore in high school because of his obesity. I thought I was ready to change my life outa high school and had the lap band put in place. Then life happened and that addiction came back stronger than ever. It took me five years of soul searching to finally tell myself "hey, its time" and get healthy. I fight this addiction and the obesity factor everyday. What keeps me going on this path of my new healthy self is knowing that in the future when I have kids I will be around for them, I will be able to live longer than my grandfather, also I am finally happier than I was 100 pounds ago.

    Eating Anxiety...

I was in your shoes about a month ago. My nutritionists told me that I have to eat to loose weight and that 500 calories a day is not giving our bodies the proper nourishment it needs to run. I told her my worries, and also my doctor and he said its all in your head. I was diagnosed with a eating disorder as well a few years back, and I fight it everyday. I would see your doctors to see what kind of foods you can get in to up your calorie intake. It took me a month just to get up to 800 calories a day, and my god let me tell you it was hard to do. Sending lots of support your way!

    Birth Control

I currently have the Implanon or Nexplanon which is a implantable birth control which is put in place in your arm. It lasts 3 years. With all birth control you will have the risk of gaining weight, it is how your body takes to medicine. With any birth control I go on I gain weight, its genetic my mom does as well when she was on birth control. Best of luck finding one, there are tons out there.

    More fun than sex!

Well, until you have done them both you really can't judge, can you? So, when you take your mountain bike down that trail, let me know if you still feel that way I will let you know but I still know sex will always win in my book lol

    More fun than sex!

I want to get back into biking but I have to disagree with you that its better than sex....sex will be always be the better exercise LOL
  10. I will be the first person to tell you that I am not perfect at all. I do measure my food at times, I do eat veggies cause I love them, and I am trying to like fruit. Just now I ate a slice of thin crust pizza and about 2oz of cooked chicken on the side. Should I ate the pizza? Most likely I shouldn't but I am in the middle of my period and sadly I listened to my body and ate. But it all comes down to your choices. If you wanna eat whatever you want go ahead nobody is judging you (or at least they shouldn't). I track my food to know I am getting my calories. I have the constant fear that I will regain my 100 pounds, so that is what keeps me wanting to make better choices in my life. I think its AWESOME that you lost 100 pounds! You go girl! Different surgeons, doctors, and nutritionists say different things. Yes, in the long run I do believe if you do not make healthier choices in your life you will not be able to keep the weight off. I am a returning WLS patient. I had the lap band back in 2008 and regained what I lost because I didn't strive to make different choices. I will never say I am done with "perfect" people because none of us are perfect to begin with. Its like no one shoe will fit all. We are all different with the same journey to become healthier by losing weight and changing our eating habits.

I gained 3lbs since Monday. WTF?

I am so with you on the weight gain! I am beyond frustrated, the scale almost went flying out the window this morning. I think mine is from my evil period coming up..but I am joining curves this week and I hope that works.

I attempted to have sex with my boyfriend but we couldn't because I had a three month strong period since surgery and he was having none of that! I don't blame him either lol

Tracking food too much for anyone?

It only stresses me out when I have to track it on the weekends because usually my weekends are my time to just not worry so much. I listen to my tummy and I make good choices when I don't track the food. I have slipped for a couple of weeks and haven't tracked because I found myself way to busy. I think to each their own when it comes down to tracking your food. I know if I don't eat 6 times a day I feel like crap. Its frustrating when you cannot find your meal on lets say MyFitnesss Pal and thats what gets me all flustered.

    Has anyone had wine?

I introduced red wine back in my life about three months after surgery. I have roughly a glass or two about once a month. I gave up beer which is my first love, I did have a glass this weekend and it came right back up but boy was it tasty.

    Help! TOM munchies?

I am also four months out and when Aunt Flow visits I get the munchies like CRAZY! Auntie Flow visits me two times a month its hell. Last night I gave into the munchies and had cinnamon roasted almonds as my snack of choice at 9pm which was bad. I have been trying so bad not to eat after 7pm and its hard. So today I am back on the wagon and going to be a little more stricter with these munchies of hell.

    Discouraged with "planning" meals

I so relate! I am not a meal planner at all! And I struggle with eating leftovers, its crazy but I have been like this since a kid. I am an extreme picky eater but learned that I cannot be with this surgery. I love dairy! I am not hungry at all but one thing I have found that is easy for me to remember to eat and get my Protein is to make sure I have lowfat cottage cheese small curd, and string cheese at work. Those are my go-to Snacks. I eat every 3 hours if I don't I will let time slip by and wont eat until dinner time. I also try my best not to eat past 7pm. Which is hard for me since I go to college and have classes from 5-8:30pm. It gets easier once you get a routine down, it took me sometime to get one down. I really like the mason jar idea, I might pitch that to my mom and we have a cooking showdown and make a few!

    Anesthesiologist PAT test?

I seen the anesthesiologist right before the surgery and had to tell them that I react badly when I wake up with thrashing and delusions. So, they listened and did a different med and didnt have any issues waking up.

    In between meals

I eat every 3 hours so I eat 6 times a day. Usually the Snacks between meals are small and light. Our tummys are smaller now and do not hold a what we used to so we have to eat small meals about six times a day.

I cried for an obese man

Your story has hit home for me because it reminded me of my grandfather. My grandfather will and always be my hero in my eyes. I come from a family who has always been bigger hardly any of us are "skinny" always had curves, and extra meat on our bones. My grandfather was always a big man, he was pushing 500 pounds. Growing up going to grandma and grandpas house was always the norm same with waiting to eat Breakfast with grandpa because he would make the best eggs known to man. Going over there was like the story book grandparents house. Grandma always had breakfast on the table for you, we made Cookies together, drank the cold coffee that grandma didn't finish, made crafts, had grandma pre-school, and we always had big meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My grandpa would make us girls finish whats on our plate before leaving the table. When I was three we almost lost my grandfather from congestive heart failure. I remember the day going to see him in the hospital and not knowing my hero was going to return. I was only three but I understood what he was going through. The doctors gave him less than ten years to live. Well moving on to my sophomore year in high school, my grandpa became sick. I stepped up with my mom and helped take care of him. I watched my grandfather fall out of bed, and I had to pick this man up and put him back in bed. The strong man who I loved dearly was becoming weaker and weaker. He was the still the 500 pound man. Every morning he would tell me that I need to eat better, because he didn't want to see me be his weight or be like him. I would tell him I am trying, and promise him I wouldn't. Sadly on memorial day weekend 2006 he passed away in hospice from congestive heart failure from being overweight. My world ended. Before having this surgery I thought a lot about those years with my grandpa and him telling me never be like him weight wise. I already failed one weight loss surgery and was thinking of a second. I told myself if my grandpa was offered weight loss surgery back when I was three I believe he would take it knowing he would be around for more of his grandchildren's lives. If he was given the choice for weight loss surgery back in 2006 before he passed, I know he wouldn't take it. Those thirteen years changed my grandpa and that last year you could tell he was giving up. I wrote my letter to the surgeon telling her this same story I am telling you and was approved. Had my revision surgery in November 2013. It wakes a lot for somebody to really look at themselves in raw form to really make this life changing decision. This story hit home for me because my grandpa was a big man who I helped up many times and he had the bluest eyes and kindest soul around.
