10 years out and cannot keep weight on

here comes an after thought..I have them a lot..lol.. There was a moment in time when my PCP told me to back off my cardio and just strength train..Im a treadmill (walker) junkie..it relaxes me, but apparently TO MUCH..my body chem is in high gear and reacts quickly to cardio stimulation..so to much was causing to rapid a weight loss..again, not a prob many people have on this site, so I don't mention it much.

10 years out and cannot keep weight on

While this is soooo not funny..I had to smile a bit..I'm thinking, not many people have this problem..But I will say this..4 years out and I haven't gained more than a pound or 2 on the up side, but on the down side, I have (accidently) dropped down to 110 lbs, it happens when I have to much going on, I'm running myself ragged, and forget to eat, I remember to exercise, but I forget to eat..I think a lot of people on here cant relate to that yet. I don't get hungry often, so I have to remind myself to eat. Breakfast is NON NEGOTABLE, I eat breakfast no matter what I'm doing or where I'm at. But the rest of the day is a fight to remember meals. I do want to slow down though, that seems to help, but since I lost the weight, I cant sit still, 'mI constantly doing something..my poor husband, he says we need a intercom in every room so he can just stand in the kitchen and call me on a wall unit..he taken to texting me of my where abouts in the house lol..So I don't know if its the same thing..but I do have to be vigilant about feeding times, or the scale starts to slide downward..I don't want to be a bag of bones!

    Dating

ok I be serious for a sec..don't worry about telling a new guy about your weight..if the subject comes up..simple is better. My youngest daughter is a cronic dater..lol..she says if it comes up she dishes, if it doesn't, it doesn't, she doesn't seem to think it defines her, I don't think it should define you. If he (the new guy) becomes a serious thing, well then I think you should tell him in your own time. When you feel comfortable to do so. Just advice from a mother watching her bariatric daughter date..

    treadmill advice - help!

Oh good info to know..I'm a treadmill junkie..I walk..didn't know that could happen..I am actually thinking about getting one to take up ALOT of space down in my hubs 'man cave'..lol..I've been looking and researching them. I live in Northern Minnesota, so its not always wise to travel on the roads in winter around here. This winter in particular was brutally cold and snowy, so it was difficult at times to get the gym (which is 20 miles from my home)..so do let one know why that prob would accure?..thanx

    Vacation and alcohol

I didn't, but a lot of folks on here have..My doc told me to think of my new pouch as a newborn baby..you wouldn't give a newborn alcohol, in time your pouch heals a little more into a adolescent, so on and so on..thats sort of the outlook I took..the told me in 18 months the healing should be well over, and then experiment..course I waited like 6 months..lol..take a sip and see if it hurts you, but don't push it. All things in moderation as they say..

Tread very lightly here my friend!!!...This is where DISIPLINE will test your very being! Remember, your are on a journey of a life time. You are EDWIN THE GREAT..not Edwin I can eat anything I want cuz Im on vacation. There will ALWAYS be vacations. Its how you ACT and what you choose to do while there. Happy carribeaning my man..woohhoo, have fun in the sun!!!
  13. My fav thing to do on this site..besides the obvious (babble a lot..lol)..is that I can read and respond to the 'Article Section"..I love mags, so finally to be able to respond directly to the author of them, AND get a response is amazing to me. Love that!!

  16. Wow.. I'm still very sad that after all this time these surgery's still have such negative connotations?? Man, am I sheltered. Remember when meeting 'the love of your life' online was a death sentence?????...Hope these surgery's hurrys up and get pass their stigma's also.

And that my dear Shmily, is the key!!!..I just read a post that said to relax, give yourself permission to eat things in moderation, relax, don't treat this sugery like a bootcamp. But ya know what..I cant. Im not one of those relaxed foodies, I will tear threw a pantry with a "werewolf' like transformation, if its filled with goodies..Me, Dee, has to be on her toes every minute. I cant apologize for the way I've learned/taught myself to be vigilant. I do a lot of THOUGHT TALK to myself..Im a Mantra-girl..keep repeating what works for me..The Mantra's on this site are so inspiring. I don't even think twice anymore, at a Home/restaurants/work, if I don't have control of what I can eat.. I just choose the lesser of all the evils. So sometimes (good) treats do come into play, and I enjoy them guilt free..one slice of pizza never make ANYONE fat..yep I said it "Fat"..cuz that's what I was.
  18. Maybe Alex, the founder of this site might be of great help to you..he also has a great app for this site. He may be able to get you on the right path technically. Good Luck

oh I always have after thoughts sorry..The main reason I chose it, is what you really want to know isn't it,..Truth be told.. was because in my research bypass seems to have the most horrendous consequences of all the surgeries if you didn't follow its rules, a lot of bad things can happen if you don't keep a balance. I need that, I need to be forced to behave. I need consequences that Im afraid of..but now 4 years later, my fears were all in my head mostly..its not that scary as I lead myself to believe, but at the time its what I needed. Sorry if this doesn't help, but you asked..

    Just Curious

I just today answer this in a different post. For Me, bypass was the perfect choice. It has MADE me stand up and pay the utmost attention to my health and fitness. It demands I change my old ways. It keeps me focused. It reminds me everyday that my health is the most important thing to me. It has treated me so well that I now care about how I look, how I shop for food and clothes. It has given me the confidence to tell people that I need to come first. It gave me the confidence to wear a bathing suit, well you get it. And the best thing of all is now I fit into a airplane seat. I need to fit, so I can fly and see my daughter and my grandchildren. The list is to big. My life is good...oh and I can HIKE if I choose!!...ok ONE regret--> I miss my 8 glasses of wine I really do! (sniffle-sniffle)..I've been demoted down to one.

    Back to my life

True dat..I have a team of 5 PhD's on speed dial..I thought that was a requirement till I started listening to people on this site..ALOT of folks have no one in their dugout??? My insurance wouldn't even consider me as a candidate, until I got these 5 PhD's on my team???...And all I have to say is..I'M SURE THEY WERE NICE PEOPLE, TILL THEY MET ME!!!!

I thought this was a good thing

My daughters are going threw this with me, they still glazed over when I talk about it with them..under their breath they call me a 'food nazi''...I HEARD THAT!!!!..(brats!!!)
  25. One year ago in March..I interview for an executive position in a major petroleum company. During the interview the HR was extremely thorough..When the interview was almost over and I was some what comfortable and reassured the interview when well... she at this point (a tactical move on her part I'm sure) asked me if I had any special needs that I felt were detrimental to the position I was applying for. AHHH YEP..so I tactfully explained my bariatriness to her. And why, god forbid, a meeting should go on for hours, how I might need to eat something, or be excused to do so. Got the job..I think in this case, my honesty and forthcoming was a plus. The last thing I ever want to do is to make my staff and co-workers resent me for ANYTHING they may think I doing which might be a special privilege. But this far out, I don't mention it unless I feel I have to. Which most of the time I don't.
