maggib11 got a reaction from dequan181 in Feb 28 new life
Yep!! I do! I have been on my pre op diet(mostly) since Friday. How are you doing on it? I already am tired of the Protein drinks. I keep trying different ones to find one that I like. I think I have one now - when do you go for pre op testing? do you have to do a endoscopy? my tests are on Thursday all day .... i am excited and scared. How about you>?

Ok, I'm a single guy, divorced after 10 years of marriage, so I guess I'll toss in my 2 cents.
Relationships are supposed to revolve around honesty, so be up front with it, don't act like you're a freak because you've had surgery,
So many dates revolve around food, so you're going to have to cross that bridge.
Go out to dinner, order a small dinner and do your routine.
If he notices he may ask, and answer truthfully. If he cringes in fear in disgust, hey, you got a free meal out of it at least!
Be honest, this is you, this is your new life. If you're in the relationship for awhile, they're gonna find out, and if you've lied, I personally, would be upset and wonder, "What else isn't she telling me the truth about"..
When I've told my friends and co-workers everyone has been open and supportive of it, so if you're afraid of being judged, I think people are over that stigma.

maggib11 got a reaction from steveelea in Booked for the 27th of Feb....starting to get nervous! Anyone Else?
My surgery is on the 28th and I am getting really nervous. I have not found a Protein Drink that is decent yet and I want to(but won't) cheat and have some farewell suppers! I started my liquid diet yesterday and a friend showed up with a piece of my favorite cheesecake from the "Factory" as a valentines treat for me. (Since it was day 1 I couldn't help myself!!! No more of that ?. Good luck to all of u fellow sleepers!

Two suggestions.....Premier Protein, tastes like chocolate milk to me and try mixing Trop 50 low calorie OJ with vanilla Protein powder. Tastes like a creamsicle. It's a little higher in carbs but if you need to get your Protein, it's worth a try.

You are NOT alone. I got scared the week prior and then 1-2 days before the surgery I started getting really excited about it. If you read enough posts on this board, you will find that is not an unusual pattern.
Just like you, I was in a panic about not being able to get enough fluids, get dehydrated, end up in the hospital after the surgery, etc. RELAX. It won't be as difficult as you think. As long as you sip Water throughout the day, you will be fine, at the hospital and at home.
Be mentally prepared for the first two weeks after surgery. Those were the hardest for me. The thought of having another sip of anything broth drove me to tears. But it too shall pass and soon you will be able to eat nearly everything again.
As a matter of fact, I am 8 weeks post surgery and I can eat everything basically. I have had zero rejection. I can eat nuts, salads, chicken, beef, pork, all fruits, all veggies, dairy...everything (well, haven't really had any sweets - and don't want to). The trick is to eat slowly.
This forum is an amazing support tool. Focus on the reward and don't get scared. You can do this!
    Best of luck,
