  1. I had this exact pain. Mine was in the mid left abdominal area. I felt pretty good for the first 3 weeks after surgery, couldn't work a full day, but pretty good. Then bam! Pain! Went to see the PA at my docs office and he said that they had to use extra strong sutures in that area due to a few complications I had (lapband removal, thick abdominal wall). He said I was definitely over doing things, but that it was mainly from healing. I hope it passes soon and hope you feel better.

    Yay! Approved

Hello all, I have recently been approved for removal of my Lap Band (placed in 2007) and a revision to Gastric Bypass. I went through all the insurance approval process, 6 months supervised diet, sleep study, etc. Definitely a long process, but glad it worked and insurance approved! My surgery date is December 22nd. Can't wait! Anyone have any advice for adjustment after surgery? Does it feel different? Any advice or suggestions to make the process smoother would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Lapband fills in Boise, Idaho

Dr. Bryan Anderson no longer has anything to do with the Lap Band. His office can refer you to a nurse that does it in Nampa, not super convenient. I ended up going to Dr. Korn in Boise. So far everyone has been nice. Trying to get through all the pre op insurance requirements before I have my band removed and revised to a Bypass. Hopefully, this post, a year later will be helpful.

Well I just got a call from the office. My insurance now wants me to complete 3 more months of diet management sessions. Argh! So disheartened. They stated that because I want one surgery (lap band removal revised to bypass) that I need more documentation. However, if I wanted 2 surgeries that would be approved. How does that make any sense? Dr korn has approved me for the two-in-one surgery. I was hoping to get this done this year since I've already met my deductible. But mainly, I just want to feel better. I have an allergic reaction after surgeries now (since pregnancy) and really just want one surgery. Sigh. I guess I just need to keep truckin since this is all out of my hands. Just really frustrating news.

    Waiting

Had my last dietary appointment this past Monday. Now they are reviewing to make sure they have everything and then will submit to insurance for pre authorization. I have zero patience when it comes to things like this! The office told me can take 3-4 weeks to hear back. Oye! What has everyone's experience been with this? My surgeon is also booked 2 months out, so looking at a September or so surgery date. A little background on me... I had the lap and placed November 2007. Lost 80 pounds but have struggled the entire time with finding a good fill amount. I am so tired of throwing up and basically cheating with food because the greasy/condiment filled food goes down better. The last 7 years have been filled with frustration (because I want to be healthier/eat healthier) and my band just seems to work against that. Against me. Ultimately after one pregnancy and all this time I have regained most of my weight. Has both knees operated on in February due to the pain. My body just doesn't handle all this weight well. Plus I've been overweight since childhood. So that doesn't help. I am hoping to have the band removed and a bypass revision completed in the same surgery. Anyways. Sorry I babbled. Thanks for listening.

Ugh! I'm so sorry you got the run around. I think we have all been given different info from that office. Which is frustrating. I received a letter from the office on Friday. Did you receive that yet? It basically said that I've met all the insurance requirements and to be patient. Ha! I've also stopped putting off summer plans. Hoping for a September date , but who knows. Keep me updated.

Hi beuchems! I saw Bill too. Had my last dietary appt with him on June 2nd. They told me it could take 3-4 weeks to find out about insurance approval. I am all antsy pantsy too, keep watching my phone and its only been a few days! I haven't seen the dietician yet, they told me that I needed to have a surgery date first. Let me know when you find out about your insurance and get a date scheduled. Part of me is ready to get this done now, part of me is not excited for another surgery. But I just keep my eye on the prize...a healthier me. Good luck and keep in touch.

Hey there. From Boise too. Seeing dr korn. Just finished all my "hoops" and just waiting for the office to submit for pre auth. They said it could take 3-4 weeks for that. Sigh. Hoping for a September surgery date, considering dr korns office said he was 2 months out on the surgery schedule. Nice to see some locals on here

    Disability after surgery?

Should be able to. Mine has a 14 day waiting/elimination period. No pay for 2 weeks, but can use PTO for that time (if you have it). Check with your carrier for those details.
