  1. @bm6230 Hi. Did you have the traditional DS or the Sadi, Sips, single anastomosis?
  2. Yes. It can cause fatigue if low. Iron, too. Maybe you want to post what you’re taking. 80k probably isn’t enough for you. You’ll need to let it build up. If I didn’t take 100k/day I’d be well under the 50-60 number on my bloods. I even know one who does 200k/day but that’s rare. Most are 100-150k/day. How much A are you taking? Many take 25-50k/day of A. Finally, do you know what your common channel length is: 250, 100, 75 or something else? That can affect your absorption .
  3. Yes, gel or chewable isn't good for us either. I take 100k/day of the dry Vit. D3. Others take 150k/day. Have you gone that high? I do my bloods every 6 months, but the numbers stay pretty consistent with the 100k/day I take. Yours tank?
  4. For a traditional DSer, the patches aren't nearly enough. How much of the supplements do you take each day? I know you said they're not working for you, but perhaps you need more? Also, are you taking them in the dry form only, no gel caps? And are you taking them alone? By that I mean not a combo Vitamin A & D pill but each separately. Also, are you taking only palmitate or retinol for Vitamin A and cholecalciferol (D3) for Vitamin D? As for injections, there are ones for D3 as well. I haven't heard of any for A & E but perhaps there are. I'd post this on another site, too, where there are more vets. I'll PM you the url.
  5. If you find your weight loss isn’t stopping, speak with your doctor about the enzyme Creon.
  6. I'm almost 15 years out from a traditional DS. I lost about 140-145 lbs. and have kept it off. I eat a ton of protein everyday and have never missed a day of my vits/minerals. I've had some health issues (especially relating to my bones), but have been able to find the help I've needed (even though it took a while). I'll always be a WLS patient, but it's just a part of my life; like breathing. No one knows I was ever big except my family and doctors.
  7. @HamHockSkyeI was in the hospital with morphine for 5 days so there it was not bad. When I got home I took pain pills for a couple of days and then was able to switch to ibuprofen. I hope it's a similar transition for you.
  8. @onmyway11Condider coming to NY if you want the SIPS. Dr. Roslin at Lenox Hill Hospital has done a ton of them.
  9. I see they do the Sips and traditional DS. Always good to have choice. I remember the week before my DS I locked myself out of my apartment twice. ?
  10. @ruthiebabeHi. It's definitely and exiting and nerve wracking time.? Who is doing your DS?
  11. @HP62442Who is your doctor? Does he/she do the DS? Yes, the recovery is somewhat different and yes, the lifestyle is very different.
  12. Lautz and Doyon say they do it but there are questions about if they really do. If they do do it, they’ve done very few. Most in NE go to NYC, PA or Montreal. NE isn’t really known for DS surgeons.
  13. Dr. K is definitely a proponent of the traditional DS. I’ve only met Sips patients at Lenox Hill (Dr. Roslin’s Practice) I don’t even know if he’d do the full DS anymore
  14. @Emily JaneI went nuts that last week. Locked myself out of my apartment twice; excited, scared, anxious.
  15. @CoramDeoMy DS was a long time ago and was 100cc. What your dr. said is basically true. Fewer possible gastro. and malabsorption issues. However, generally less and/or slower weight loss .
  16. @HopeFaithI know of Dr. K’s: Link But that’s really far for you. Have you checked local hospitals?
  17. Full DS. 4.5-5 hours.
  18. @audnmac8I’ve had bone pain for the last 2 years even though I’ve never missed a day of vits/minerals in 14 years. I’m now working with a metabolic bone clinic and they’ve helped a good deal. Start with an endocrinologist and go from there. You've got to get the bones right.
  19. 14+ years out. I weigh every few months.
  20. @CoramDeoSent you a PM.
  21. Yes. But it wasn't instantaneous. There were a lot of adjustments and learning to do. I'd say it took about 2 years till I decided it had been the right choice for me.
  22. @CoramDeoOh, and remember we only take tablets or capsules. Dry. No gelcaps. And no XL or XR (by that I mean all day tablets or capsules).
  23. @CoramDeoJust make sure you speak to your surgeon to find out when you can take what. You might have to be creative initially. You have to remember you're going to have a brand new stomach and system. I'll never forget what my surgeon said to me, "Think of this as an infant's stomach. You had one stomach for most of your life and now a brand new infant stomach."
  24. @CoramDeoI take anything. No limitations at all. From Vicodin to Advil to Aspirin and anything in between. Thankfully, I don’t often need them. After my gb was removed (3 years post DS) I find I must take only 1 tablet/capsule every half hour as if I take more I get pancreatitis. But that’s just me. Most DSers I know have no issues or restrictions.
