HumanMerelyBeing got a reaction from shmeyers in My collarbone is beautiful...
Yes, it's true. My collarbones have been missing for the better part of 15 years and now they are back and I find them, well...beautiful. It's funny how when you are heavy, you almost disassociate from your body. Your body is a thing wholly separate from your true self when it is heavy. I always felt like my heavy body had betrayed me and I had betrayed it.
But as I regain my old self, it's important to connect again. And part of that connection is finding little beautiful things about your body.
What do you now find beautiful about yourself?

I agree that we lose our bones. I have some collar bones and also hip bones. When I lay down there they are sticking out! I have shoulder blades and I can bend and reach them when I have an itch. I know it sounds strange but if you haven't been there you will never understand.

HumanMerelyBeing got a reaction from Inner Surfer Girl in What was your most recent NSV? (non-scale victory)
The timing on this thread is perfect as I just experienced a delightful NSV yesterday. It was chilly and I was looking for a sweatshirt to put on...the nearest one was my 13 year old son's size small Hollister sweatshirt. Put it on, zipped it up - rocked it. Ha ha!

HumanMerelyBeing reacted to Bufflehead in Post pic of your scars?
I can't get a good picture but I promise you I have no visible scars. There are a few faint marks if you look with one of those lighted magnifying glass things and know what you are looking for, but nothing that can be seen with the naked eye. I didn't use any scar cream or anything like that. I think that you get a lot less scarring if your surgeon uses surgical glue to close the incisions rather than sutures or staples. That's the only reason I can think of that I don't have any visible scars - I certainly have them other places on my body from other incisions and wounds, so it isn't like I have magically non-scarring skin!
