  1. Dana I'm glad all went well. My daughter and I r having surgery the same day. We interviewed Dr Macik as a potential surgeon since his program fee was only $250 compared to our current surgeon fee of $600 but decided on our current surgeon. Another gentleman was in the waiting area signing in after we did and he was very pleased with Dr Macik as well.
  2. Omg that's great let's stay in touch. I was supposed to be sleeved March 24th and got pushed back. I was PISSEDDDD but said maybe it wasn't intended for that to be my day so I regrouped and embraced my new date that according to my surgeon is in stone now. Lol
  3. Hey u!! Ur doing very well.
  4. So sorry to hear ur having pain. What does PN stand for? Is the medication they prescribed helping with the pain? I hope it gets better soon.
  5. Each insurance company can be very different from plan to plan. I have UHC and I was approved in 3 days. I have heard of approvals the sane days to as long as 4 weeks. Each time I saw a specialist or my surgeon I had to pay a $35 copay. The cost of my sleep study was astronomical and since I had a $1000 deductible I was responsible for $987 plus my 30% co insurance. Psyche evaluation was a copay and my blood work has been covered at 100%. I had a 6 month supervised diet through the Healthy Weight program with UHC. Had a endoscopy in the last 1.5 years so my surgeon accepted the results of that since I was able to provide the report and path report showing I didn't test positive for h-pylori. I would just say be clear on what YOURRRRRR plan requires as there's nothing more frustrating than having surprises during this process it's an emotional roller coast all in it's own.
  6. Casie looks like we will be sleeve sisters I'm being sleeved on April 14th as well. I'm at noon how about you??I'm not sure of the exact time. Will have definite info once insurance approves. I'm sure it will be a morning surgery time. I'm so excited. I can't wait to feel like I have control of my life again! How much weight are you hoping to drop? I definitely want to hit the 100lbs mark for my weigh loss.I am looking to lose 100 pounds. Seems like so much but I'm up for the journey.
  7. I didn't get a chocolate with mines that I recall. I received Banana, strawberry, orange cream, and vanilla. I wonder if I should have received a chocolate one?? I shake mines in plain water and love it. I find that I enjoy the flavor far greater over blending it which to me altered the taste some. By chance did u blend it or shake it? Sorry it wasn't tasty for u.
  8. Exclusions totally suck! My daughter went through this with Aetna about a year ago. Open enrollment we switched to my husbands plan which is UHC anddddddd I've jumped on board to have VSG as well. Far less stringent then Aetna and I was approved within 3 days of submission to UHC for approval.
  9. Congrats to you! Didn't it feel amazing when you were notified. I wanted to tell it from the roof top.
  10. Casie looks like we will be sleeve sisters I'm being sleeved on April 14th as well. I'm at noon how about you??

  13. Depending on each persons situation and insurance it was various things. It seemed some insurance companies requires them a BMI of 40 without comorbidities or 35 with them but also a5 year history of being morbidly obese. I know for myself that sent me in a panic as my weight has fluctuated between BMI of 37-43 over the last several years so if that 5 year history applied to me I was dead and stinking and would not landed me a denial. Thank goodness my UHC wasn't structured that way.
  14. Thank you. During the 6 month supervised diet I never considered I could be denied but reading folks stories of how they were denied sent me into a panic. Thank goodness they approved me quickly I'm sure I was driving my family insane lol.
  15. As my surgery date got closer the excitement was building rapidly but when I when I returned from lunch and received the email from my surgeon office that I was APPROVED......omg I LITTERALLY was jumping up and down and yelling THANK YOU JESUS!! This journey at times has been tedious but well worth it. Things became very real once I received the approval. I am so excited yet nervous but I know these are normal emotions.
  16. Would like to connect with others in Georgia on this WLS journey. I have UHC and they require the hospital be a 5 star center of excellence and in my area that's only 2 hospitals. I absolutely love my surgeon thank goodness but the hospital in my opinion can use a major face lift. Credential wise I have no concern about the hospital just wish it was more pleasing to the eye with a bariatric floor. Several fellow Sleevers hospital of choice had a bariatric floor which I thought was awesome! At my hospital no bariatric floor and no complimentary Bari Bear LOL but I'm ordering mines on line. Where are you having surgery? Who's your surgeon? How have your experience been thus far?
  17. Hello Ladies. My surgery is April 14th. Have u guys began purchasing items for pre-op diet and hospital stay?
  18. This has been a long tedious journey but so worth every time I have wanted to pull my hair out or kick the snot out of someone for another disappointment or set back. Thanks for sharing your WLS journeys with me and allowing me to share mines this far with you. you all are the greatest!

  21. At my surgeons office the $600 program fee covered the completion of ur FMLA OR STD forms, group nutrition class, life time of group session, and on going support from dietician.
