Pre op help me ?
Most protein powders are nasty unless they are mixed with milk. I used 0% milk in mine. The bariatric advantage shakes say use water, the nutritionist said mix those with milk as well. Almond milk is going to make them taste even more nasty, in my opinion. If your are not lactose intolerant try then with milk.

Very Pre-Op and Exercise
I go to the gym 6 days a week for a hour or so. I either power walk for 60 minutes on the treadmill or use the bike for 10 to 12 miles, usually about 45 minutes. I felt like crap afterward until I started taking in more protein. I get close to a 100 grams of protein in a day. It gives you energy and helps your muscles heal. Try that and see if it helps, if not I would consult the nutritionist, to see if a change in your diet is necessary.

feel crapy
You are not going crazy. I have been unstoppable since surgery. No pain, no nausea. Once the morphine was out of my system, I was up cleaning and doing other chores. I have no problems getting all my protein in and fluids in for the day. At two weeks, I started going to the gym 6 days a week. I either power walk on the treadmill for an hour or ride the bike for 10 to 12 miles, usually about 45 minutes to an hour on the bike. I want to start running on the treadmill but I am scared I am going to fall. Anyway, I am glad I am not alone. The issues I have had is with tuna getting stuck and now I have an infection in one of my incisions. However, I think the infection stems from my spinal cord stimulator implant. It has been hurting extremely bad the last few days and today I ended up with abscess looking incision that popped and a ton of green gunk come out of it. It is still leaking. I think the main part of the infection is in my back. I called the back doctor about the pain with the stimulator battery yesterday and they scheduled me to see the doctor on Tuesday. I am going to call them in the morning and inform that I have an infection. Sorry that I rambled about my back. You are not alone with feeling great. Enjoy it!!!! Keep me posted on how you are doing.

Personal trainer
I am going to school to become an exercise physiologist. I was going to school for nursing but I decided I love exercise so much why not do that and help people. So I changed my major.

I have an infection in one my incisions.
One of my incisions swelled up like a an abscess and popped this afternoon. A lot of green gunk came out of it. I called the doctor and emailed him some pics. It's infected. The problem is I have spinal cord stimulator implant in my hip that is hurting really bad as well. It was implanted in February. I could almost bet that the implant is infected as well. This is not good. If it is I may have to go thru another back surgery, already have had six. Hoping for the best.

excellent NSV!
I had to take some paperwork to my neurosurgeon's office this morning. The last time I was in there, I was 325 pounds. I am now 268. To me I don't look that much different, but she had to do a double take when I walked into her office. I guess I look that much different. I have dropped from a 26 to an 18. It feels good to know all my hard work is paying off.

Clothing sizes
Clothing sizes are awful. I bought two pair of jeans from Cato several months ago, before my surgery. They were both 24s. One fit just fine, the other more like a size 20. I couldn't even get them on. I liked the design on the back pocket and I knew I was having WLS so I didn't take them back. Now that I can actually wear 20s the jeans fit.

made it 3 days without weighing myself
Don't be jealous. When I stalled I gained 8 pounds. I was so mad. The scale just made it worse that's why I put the scale up in my closet.
-
Hiding the scale!
I put my scale up this weekend. I will weigh myself several times a day if given the opportunity. After 3 days of not weighing, I broke down and did it this morning. I have lost 4 pounds, I am so happy. Scale is back in the closet and that's where it will be until next week. I have a doctor's appointment every week this month. S I will see plenty of their scales. Mine is the only one that tells the truth.

made it 3 days without weighing myself
I started freaking out thinking I wasn't losing fast enough. I have lost 56 pounds on two months. At this rate I will have lost 100 pounds in 4 months. That is probably fast enough, I guess seeing those number fluctuate really put doubts in my head that I was doing the right thing. Plus when I stalled I was really upset. Luckily it only lasted about 2 weeks. I am glad I put it in the closet. It's going to stay there until sometime next week.

Anyone else saying...
I love my protein shakes!!!! Without those guys I wouldn't get all my protein in a day. Can't wait for my pb2 to come in so I can spruce them up.
-
Portion sizes
My program started us on 4oz of protein right after the liquid diet was over. Sometimes I get the whole 4oz in sometimes I don't. Depends on how dense the protein is. We only get fruits or veggies if we have room. I try to get a veggie in there every now and then for some fiber.

made it 3 days without weighing myself
I had to put the scale away because I am obsessed with weighing myself. I managed not to weigh myself for 3 days and I got a nice surprise this I had lost 4 pounds. I am less than a hundred pounds to goal. Super excited!! Scale is staying in the closet.

How long after insurance approval were you scheduled?
In my program, you don't get to meet the surgeon until you are approved.
-
Expectations?
Bigger people will lose weight faster. I have lost 56 pounds in 2 months. I thought I was doing something wrong cause I wasn't losing a pound a day like I was on the liquid diet. Turns out we are all different and you shouldn't compare yourself to others. The best thing u can do for yourself is put the scale away. Weigh like every other week, so when to u see a loss on the scale it will be a reward instead of discouraging when you have weight fluctuations. I had to do this. A couple of pounds a week is realistic.

Week 3 plateau?
I stalled at the same time. You will lose inches during your stall. I increased my exercise and just lost more inches. Finally when it broke two weeks later, I lost 13 pounds in 3 days. Then another 4 pounds 2 days later. I don't know how many inches I have lost, but I dropped from a 26 to an 18/20 in 3 weeks. Don't let the stall discourage you.

RNY caused me to lose my friends
Everyone is right these girls are not worth it. I could understand them disliking me if I was bragging about my weight loss but I haven't. I try to keep to myself cause I figured someone would get jealous if I talked to much about it. I am starting school in the spring, hopefully I will make some new friends then. Until then I will just focus on getting healthier.

Hit a stall 3 wks out. GRRRRR!
I was obsessed with scale and I paid the price during my week 3 stall. I got really upset. Finally when it broke 2 weeks later I lost 13 pounds in 3 days. Anyway, back to the scale thing. Put the scale away, it is your enemy. You will lose inches during your stall if you are exercising like you are told too. I dropped from a 26 to an 18/20 in 3 weeks. My bra size went from a 46c to a 42b in 3 weeks. I am currently only losing about 3 pounds per week, but my clothes are getting bigger and bigger. I almost have nothing to wear. The next time I am getting on a scale is next week when I go see the gyno for my exam. Then on the 20th when I go see my surgeon. However, I am hoping that I will have lost 65 pounds by September 10th when I go see my psychiatrist. He hasn't seen me since before my surgery which was June 25th. He will be shocked. Hope everyone is having a good recovery!!!

not your usual protein shake question
My surgeon says we can keep drinking them to make we get our all protein in. I know some surgeons are different and they want a person to get all their protein from food. I'm going to keep drinking them, I can't eat 80 grams of protein a day.

RNY caused me to lose my friends
I don't have a bunch of friends and the two that I am closest to have ditched me because I am losing weight. One of them was so jealous she took it upon herself to post all my health issues on Facebook after I unfriended her. The reason I know she did this is because she was still Facebook friends with my husband and I seen the post on his page. She has since blocked us. They other friend was all kinds of curious about the surgery until she realized I have lost over 50 pounds in two months. She hasn't talked to me in weeks except one text message asking me if one of her friends, a girl who treated me like crap in high school, could have my clothes that are to big. I told her no. Haven't heard from her since. I have one other friend who lives 500 miles from me, we went to college together. She is totally supportive of what I am doing. She knows several people who have had a bypass and she knows it is not easy. I don't understand why my other two former friends are so jealous they feel they can't be happy for me.

is anyone tired?
I have been bouncing off the walls since I came home from the hospital. The doctor told me to relax for two weeks afterwards, I relaxed by cleaning the house and the garage out. I thought going to the gym would wear me out, but it doesn't. I am so glad I have so much energy now, before all I would do is sit around and watch TV. My house is much cleaner.
