  1. Thank you!! You put my heart at ease a lot. I really do appreciate your candidness and honesty and willingness to share. For me...the more I know the better I handle things. I've been up since 4...kinda tossing and turning! Nerves! But I figure I'll sleep during the surgery and probably a while afterwards too! My surgery isn't scheduled till 3:15 this afternoon...I'm so thirsty!! And It looks like I won't be drinking anything till tomorrow!! Yikes!
  2. Erin, you said waking up in recovery was painful what kind if pain? Inclination pain or insides? I'm not really sure what to expect!
  3. Erin!! Thanks for posting!! And such great detail!! Mine is today! I'm scared. But your account was wonderful. I'm so happy things went so well and I pray mine go just as smooth!
  4. Surgery is a go for tomorrow at 3:15 pm....have to be there at 11:15. Dr. D. Likes his patients there 4 hours early!! I would appreciate greatly all the prayers I can get. And good vibes! Thanks so much.
  5. Best wishes all who have surgery today! I am thinking of you! ~Heather
  6. Glad to know 5 days later and you are happy!! That gives me hope!! My day is this Tuesday! I'm a week behind ya!! Praying for a smooth surgery and a very little pain!
  7. Terry1118, Thank you for sharing your story and your thoughts. You are right. I do know nothing will change if I don't take this step. Sure I will stick with the "diet" for a while but when nothing at all happens...then what? I know this surgery will give me the tool and motivation to do this for myself and my family! I do not want to be the tired mom who always JUST wants to cuddle, I want to be the active mom who takes her kids on hikes, and bike rides (something I've never done in all their lives) I want to not be too embarrassed to go to a Water park n go down the slides with them. I pray with all my heart, this is my answer, my freedom to this fat shame I carry with me all the time. My new life, my new attitude and a better me! I really do appreciate everyone on here and their support. Having a place to come and be real and honest and scared with those who understand has been so helpful.
  8. My surgery is Tuesday!! Thank you all for the love and support!! I wish you all a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery! May God guide our surgeons and our teams as they help us to find the best versions, the healthiest versions of ourselves. I am taking in lots of fluids and as soon as my daughters friends bday party is over I'm headed home to rest!! Still nervous as heck....
  9. Ahhhh!!! I have a cold!!! I called the dr.s office they told me to push fluids and call tomorrow! No fever but....Urgh!!! Praying for a quick turn around !
  10. All clear liquid pre op diet is for the birds....I'm starving!!!!

  12. I today I've started my pre op clear liquid phase! I get it...broths, clear soda, jello...tea... What are some things/brands etc, you found to be helpful to get through this. I'm a pretty grumpy person when I'm hungry...I want to do my best not to get that way lol...advice appreciated and welcome!
  13. Nerves are getting to me. Liquid diet starts tomorrow...surgery Tuesday. Praying for strength.
  14. I opened up this app today and what I wrote last night just posted. Right now I am having a total freak out! U feel like I'm going to just burst into tears and start sobbing but, I don't want my kids to worry any more than they are so I'm fighting and losing as we speak. I still feel on the fence, the fear is overwhelming me. Am I a total idiot for doing this now? Should I wait till I am older? Till I have comorbidities? I want to be thin, I want to be healthy, I want to be around for a long long time with my family. I love my life..minus the fat, and shame I feel, and self loathing, and shopping, and ugh....I wish there was another way. This is so scary.
  15. I am the day after y'all, on the 4th. I'm having a lot of the same thoughts. I am 35 and I have 3 kids. 18 (step son but been mommy since he was 5), a 9, and 11 year old. I am worried too. I'm worried about not...and then not making past 50 for them too...this is all very worrisome and a bit overwhelming.
  16. So glad to hear you are home and recovering. I'm so sorry about your pain meds. I pray you are blessed with a speedy recovery!
  17. How are you?? Hope your surgery was a complete success!!
  18. I'm with you!! I'm hoping I want it more!!! As I've been so self conscious for sooo long!! I'm ready to turn that on it's ear!
  19. Congrats!! Praying for a smooth and easy recovery for you so thankful to all who can, posting after!! It gives us who have yet to go a real sense of us being able to do this too!!! Love to you all!!
  20. Congrats and praise Jesus!! May you have a swift and healthy recovery!!
  21. I'm so glad you noted that your depression declined. I'm praying this does the same for me also. Thanks for sharing that!
  22. Thanks for your encouragement!! I was able to get in touch with all 3 places in tulsa that had my records for the last 5 years and get them to all fax them in this morning!! We should have an approval later today or tomorrow!! ...positive thoughts!!
  23. Wow!! You are so brave!!! Ok...here I go... I am choosing to have RNY for the following reasons: I want to live past 50 (which is the age my gma passed away from a heart attack and stroke. I want to live to be a great great grandma! I want to for the 1st time in my life...look in a mirror and have the reflection match what I feel inside I have borderline high BP, and my sugar was slightly elevated in December when I had some labs done I want to be a good no great example for my kids! I want to have more energy to go and do things, not just cuddle...I want to be active with my family! I am 35...I have a long life ahead and I want to enjoy it and not feel constant self loathing and self consciousness. I do not want to feel my lower stomach on the tops of my legs anymore I want to be able to have a real family picture taken and NOT make excuses why I can't. I am so proud of my family. I waNt to be seen with them, they are amazing I want to have a pic of my husband and me professionally done (something he's asked for since 2002...our wedding photo) I want to have sex with my husband of almost 12 years....and not feel like it has to be black as night in the room (sorry if tmi) I want to not turn over n pretend I am asleep instead because I am soooo self conscious of my body 50% of the time. I want to be...healthy and have a healthy relationship with food. There are many many more reasons...I won't keep going on here but...these are some ones close to my heart. Thanks for being so brave and posting this thread!
