  1. Jessiej !!! Yesterday I'm pretty sure I turned into the poltergeist when everyone else was eating chicken parm and I was like...seriously crying. I TotALLY understand where you are coming from!!!
  2. Thank you both! I do need to keep my fears in check. Thank you for the advice!!
  3. I have 3 kiddos, my youngest is 9. She is terrified of me having surgery. She just keeps saying "what if something goes wrong?" I don't really know how to calm her fears as I have those same ones. Any advice?
  4. I'm having surgery the 4th also!! I agree...I like reading them too but it does scare me a bit.
  5. I am from upstate NY too! Watertown area. I see Dr. Dalencourt with Dr. Graber's office!
  6. Sorry about the spelling...silly phone
  7. I am having surgery in February 4th with a sure grin from Dr. Graber's office, Dr. Dalencourt. Anybody else had interactions with him??
  8. Why would one not have to take the injections? I'm just asking because I don't know. I guess I am blessed that I really don't have any major medical problems from my weight...(slight high Bp, heel pain, sore back... ). I don't want to develop any serious problems either, that's why I am trying to fix this now. In addition, I want to be around for my kids. With a family history of heart issues I need to take good care of myself, which regretfully...I haven't. I'm so thankful to have all the people on here to talk to and read all of everyone's stories and info. I am scared...but...the info, support and perspective of everyone here helps me a lot.
  9. Ummm...anyone else have a total fear of the whole injections in your stomach?? Ahhhhh! I get queasy talking about it! So...who is gonna tell me about this??
  10. I am wondering what to expect at my pre-op appointments next Tuesday. I have the psychiatrist to meet with...what is this all about? Then I meet with nutrition and then a doctor, then I think some Bloodwork. What has been your experience??
  11. Praying for a smooth surgery and speedy recovery! Keep us posted!
  12. I'm with you guys....I'm nervous and am having a terrible time sleeping as well. The "what if" game keeps playing in my head! :'(
  13. Thank you so much!! The turkey Chili is a great idea!! Yes we are meat eaters!! I made a turkey ham tonight for dinner with beans and peas...I made mashed potatoes for the kids n I had a hard boiled egg...but guess what??? They didn't even notice the ham was turkey!! Haha!! Love it!!
  14. Congrats Jessiej!! So happy to hear your surgery went well. I as well as many appreciate when people post updates as they are going through this...it really helps prepare the mind for "my turn"!!
  15. So I am scheduled for my surgery in a few weeks, I am trying to get myself eating now the way I will need to later...everything I have read says this will make it easier for me after, plus...I was asked to loose 10lbs. I am doing fine for myself. I fix myself separate items from my family. The thing is...one big reason I am doing this is to help my children. Both our girls are heavy for their ages (my hubs and I are both too and he will be having his surgery in the spring) I do NOT want my kids to have to go through this. I want to help them now while they are little. It is my duty as their mom who loves them more than anything in this world. Where I am having trouble is dinner...what in the world do I make for a family that is low in fat, low in sugar, high in Protein and...my kids will actually eat?? I love my babies and I don't want them to suffer the way I did as a child/teen/adult. The teasing and laughing and being left out. I also don't want them to loose their confidence or self esteem at the hands of me...because I didn't take control... They are both dancers and are very active kids...good grief are they active...but the weight sticks in their tummy area just like mine and my husbands. (He says it's sympathy weight from when I was pregnant...nearly 10 years ago lol) Anyway..any ideas or advice other parents can give me on how to handle the dinner situation and also...tips on weeding out the crap like hoho's in the lunch box..what do I swap it for and the chips...without them crying...and hating it. I want them to see that eating right can be great!!! I know it can...I've done it a million times but...you all know... Thanks y'all! ~dreaming
  16. Wow!!! 30lbs in 3 weeks!!! Kinda want to try that!! Maybe just a week...eesh.. I do have a 3 day clear liquid component prior to surgery and this pre-op diet is supposed to help me loose the 10lbs..the doc asked me to shed prior to surgery. I'm not confident I will loose that 10lbs without doing something like that. Perhaps...I will attempt it on my own!
  17. I too am having pre-op fears...my surgery isn't for a few weeks yet though. I'm scared something might happen to me...I have 3 kiddos 18, 11, and 9. I don't want them to lose their mommy... I've never had any surgery before...sometimes I feel the fear almost take me over...i know that if I dont make a change that they could loose their mommy young too...ohhhh...praying for strength, comfort and a smooth surgery.
  18. I am from CNY also! Just wondering who your surgeon is? I have Dr. Dalencourt with Dr. Graber's practice.
  19. If you don't mind me asking...what is optifast?
  20. No, no liquid diet yet...I have a pre-op diet I have to follow but it's really not too bad. The liquid diet is only for 3 days before surgery.
  21. Thank you ALL!!! Your responses of encouragement and understanding are overwhelmingly appreciated!! I am excited to finally not be "the fat one".
  22. I am scheduled to have my gastric bypass surgery feb. 4, 2014. I am excited and encouraged by all the amazing stories on here and other places. The problem is...I'm scared. I've never had any kind of surgery, so I am scared of that. I'm scared of being bitchy when I can't eat...yeah that's what happens to me when I get too hungry. I'm scared...of failing. Of not losing the weight, of being the one who just..fails. :'(. Did anyone else have or has these thoughts/feelings? Thanks for any words of advice or encouragement.
