I really hope everyone is doing well!! Can you believe it's been over a year??? Omg!!! Here's how things are going for me...down 135lbs, still not all the way to my goal but proud of how far I've come. About 10 more pounds to go...seem to be at quite a standstill though! I survived my 1st vacation since the surgery, and didn't gain any! I've gone from a size 18/20 to a 4/6. My moods have stabilized and my hubby had the surgery in December! Our lifestyle is so much healthier!! Love to all!! Hope life is finding you all healthy and happy!

Hi friends!! I hope the holidays are finding everyone well!! Everyone seems to be doing so great! It's awesome to read the celebrations and some struggles of others, let's me know I'm not alone! Things have been going pretty well for me! I'm down to 173 from 274 (surgery day)! Yay! Still have a bit to go to goal but I'm getting there. I know I really need to get into a better fitness routine. It's been pretty hit or miss. I have the damn gym membership now I just need to USE it!!! Anyways, my husband had gastric bypass on Monday. Hopefully we will be outta here today! He's doing well. Seems he's beginning to understand a little more going through it yourself and knowing someone who went through it...so different! Am I right? Can I get an amen?! Lol. I'm super excited for him, and us as a couple! I've found a doc here in VA (his doc) who has taken me on as his patient since we moved from NY. Best wishes for the happiest holiday season to everyone! ~dreaming

Thanks y'all!! I will say that I too seem to have a little alien...I begin to hear and feel him not happy and have to immediately get up from the table and wait...sometimes I yak...sometimes I'm ok... It's not fun though and I really never know which way it will go.

Hi all! I was wondering....is it just me or are there others out there riding the crazy hormone train??? I feel like I am all over the place. Hot then freezing, happy then angry and then crying, I think my hormones have always been a little off but man this is nuts. I think my family even sees me as crazy and I don't blame them. What do I do? Yes I spoke with the doc and she said...it will regulate in time. But...in the meantime I'm not who I want to be

Thanks guys!! You all are doing amazing! I've hit a plateau myself. For the last 2 weeks....to be honest though, I've not been a good girl and I'm not doing "regular excersise". I am on the go all day for my job , run here go there move move move...so by the time I make it home at night I am dead dog tired. And we are packing to move so...that's super fun too. Anyhow, I too stay away from breads. However...crunchy foods seem to work well for me which...is probably bad since I do like them. Most days I am still using my go to's like raw veggies, salads and fruit. I will add a slice of ham or turkey here and there. Dinner, I try to eat whatever I cook for the fam, Somedays are better than most. My biggest problem is that from eating so little for dinner I end up hungry before bed...I know that is dangerous. And eating before sleep is never a good thing. Erin, I love me some rum too!! I have fixed myself a few cocktails as well...haven't done with coke, but I do love me rum punch. I have to go so slow though, I'm so afraid of the sugar. Thanks again guys! You're the bestest!! ~H

Ok...so...I haven't posted on FB or told anyone other than my family...but we are moving...again!! We moved last summer to northern NY from Oklahoma (my husband was given a promotion and relocated here) this was good because I had really missed my family (I am from NY originally) Now...his job is relocating us (to a warmer and larger city where I can hopefully get back to my career of being. Teacher!) So...as of August 1st, we will be living in the Greater Richmond VA area! I am so excited to get out of the frozen for 6mo. Northern NY!! I'm so glad I can share this on here with y'all...we hope to tell the rest of our family n friends soon, but man holding things In is hard for me lol!

Thanks y'all! Protien....has NOT been my friend. Pretty much no matter what it is..(besides yogurt) makes me yak! Especially chicken, tuna, eggs,... I'm very frustrated. I also can confirm that I am still struggling to get in liquids. I feel like "a bad patient". But drinking has never been a big thing for me....except for meals which I miss terribly. I do try...really...but in the mix of the busy days I do tend to forget and not get in even nearly enough. I tend to eat a lot (well maybe not A LoT) of fruits and veggies but...not much proteins at all. Some days are better than others...but...I want to be healthy...not just skinny. I go back to the dr on June 3rd so we will need to have some serious conversations about things and my concerns.

    Hair...do's

I am almost 2 months out...down abt 35lbs...but struggling with protein. I am curios about hair...I usually color/lighten my locks in the spring but was wondering how others hair have handled color/bleach after weight loss surgery? I had bypass if that matters. Thanks! ~dreaming

  16. I today I've started my pre op clear liquid phase! I get it...broths, clear soda, jello...tea... What are some things/brands etc, you found to be helpful to get through this. I'm a pretty grumpy person when I'm hungry...I want to do my best not to get that way lol...advice appreciated and welcome!
  17. Hey y'all, While I love my surgeon and his staff...I don't always think of my questions while I am sitting there.... This is where my expert friends on here come in! I was told Protein first when it comes to eating...what I don't know is..how much protein? How often? How much per meal? What are the best ways to get it in? And why do I need to focus on it? Ok...I'm ready for a lil guidance from all the masters out there!! Thank you!!

OMG!!! I think I'm experiencing.... Dumping or a very bad reaction... My stomach hurts so much. I feel so sick to my stomach and the toilet is my BFF....please tell me this will go away soon!
  20. I too had these same worries and fears. I have 2 young girls and a son about to graduate high school. I was very worried. Here's the thing....1. This surgery has a lower mortality rate than gallbladder surgery. 2. The complications Usually happen to people with other issues going in besides being overweight. 3. If you don't do this...will your kids have you when they are older? Not trying to away you. We all have to make our own choices...just want you to think about wha you really want and why...you began this journey in the 1st place. Believe me when I tell you I was right where you are and the fear was consuming me...finally I had to "get a grip" and remind myself over and over why I was doing this.

    Protein Q's...a lil help please!

No, the nutritionist did not give me guidelines about protein. The only thing I know is I'm not supposed to have protein shakes after week 2...and I'm in week 4. They say they discourage the use of liquid calories after week 2?!?! Thanks for the advice and recommendations!!
