  1. Insurance Denial! Well, kind of. They need a letter surgical clearance letter from my PCP. Then they need something stating that I was under dr. supervision for 3 month diet. My surgeon provided that but it must not be worded just right. How silly. So, pray my friends that this gets turned around fast. :( At this point, I don't think I'll be having surgery on Monday.

  2. We an do it Jencovi. I started today. I'm not hungry because I've had lots of Protein. We will support each other. We got this.

    Welcome Bodie!

Yeah, we are all a little nuts on our pre-op diets. But laughter is the best medicine, right?!

    Hi All,

I'm new to this. I am having my surgery on the 28th in Phoenix, AZ. I'm so nervous but very anxious at the same time. I have read most of the posts here and ya'll are a hoot.

    Good Luck Everyone!

SF, I STILL haven't packed. I am telling myself that as soon as the little one goes down for a nap, packing will happen.

  3. I feel you PurpleDiosa. I finally had my psych eval yesterday. I was actually nervous about it for some reason. She said she was sending the report to my surgeon and I'm good to go. A letter from my PCP has been requested for insurance purposes. Now I go next Wednesday to see the surgeon again. We will schedule the EDG and submit to insurance. I have been praying that insurance will be speedy in approving me. I want this now! :)

Got my psych eval scheduled for 2/18. So this pushes it all out a little bit farther than I hoped, but I'll get there. I asked to be called if there were any cancellations so I could get in sooner.

OMG, I just want to DO THIS ALREADY.

  4. ReMom13,

The 2 week pre-op liquid diet is to shrink the liver (because a fat person has a fatty liver). Shrinking the liver will make surgery easier because it won't be in the way as much. The 3,6, etc month diet period is a requirement by most insurance companies.

I don't understand the diet before surgery thing...I mean a few days of liquid, yes, but weeks-months? Can someone explain it?

I'm so excited to be this close to surgery. I don't have a date yet. I go back to the surgeon on Jan. 8, 2014. I expect we will set a date then (hopefully). January 29 ends the 3 month "diet" period. So I think I'm looking at surgery in February. :)

My last meeting with the nutritionist is Monday. I'm hoping to know more then.

My last medically supervised diet visit is on Feb 17, 2014. I am hoping to have my surgery mid March.

  5. I can't hardly stand it anymore. I just realized that I see my surgeon again in just 2 weeks. My psych appointment is the 28th. At my appointment on Feb 5th, we will schedule the endoscopy and submit to insurance. I'm praying insurance comes back quickly with a yes.

Good luck to everyone having surgery soon.

How are the 2 week liquid diets going?

    Becky

  6. We will support you and I'll pray that your family comes around too. Are you eating plenty of Protein to fight hunger? I'm on 1,200 calories a day. I find I'm hungry at meal time but I've also been hungry if I didn't get my Protein in.

On my second month of a Three month diet before they will schedule....need to lose at least nine more pounds and have only post one...i feel hungry all the time..and have no support at home:( this Is so very hard. And now my family Is trying to scare me out of doing the sleeve...but i want this...i want a healthier life...

  7. UPDATE: Saw my surgeon today. He was extremely happy with my 10 pound weight loss. Next appointment will be psych visit. February 5th I go back to surgeon to submit to insurance and schedule endoscopy. I'm looking at the end of February for surgery.

January 29th will be the end of my 3 month diet period.
