  2. Hi, I am new to this site, and excited yet very scared all at the same time! I have had GERD for about 10 years now, I wondered how the surgery affected others with GERD? Better? worse? same? What sort of test were required prior to the operation?

I also have a sensitive gag reflex, and I am worried about that. I actually only swallow the smallest of pills when I take my meds (otherwise I cut them up or take a liquid instead). I am nervou because I read that when I wake up from the operation, I will have a breathing tube and maybe a feeding tube down my throat? Or I may have a line run down into my throat for draining after surgery? Is that true? I am scared to death I will return to conciousness and start gagging and choking uncontrollably :( I know I am probably being a big ol' baby, but I am not even scared of the pain of recovery (of course I have gone through recovery for a c-section and for apnea surgery, where they cut out tonsils/uvula/palate and insert a screw in my jaw- I figure it could not be much worse than the pain I dealt with recovering from those), just gagging/choking. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Beth

I had GERD before my sleeve and it's a lot better now. The best I can tell is after you wake up as soon as you can start walking this will help you get rid of the gas. The more you move around the better. The gas can make you think your having a heart attack if you don't walk it off. Drink plenty of Water also, and be sure to take all your Vitamins evety day very important.

  3. I am from the ...clean your plate because of all the starving children in Biafra ...generation. It IS hard for all of us here to just let it go. It's even hard to not eat the last bite of something just to prove I can do it.

My boyfriend and I have separate shelves in the fridge, now, so that I can find my necessary bits of food easily. And I do store some of my leftovers in baby food jars. My container of refried Beans has been in there five days, and I still have half of it left.

I know what yall are talking about, I'm from the clean your plate area too. I can't eat 3 or 4 bites of Protein, about 2 or 3 bites of veggies. My Dr said no potatoes anymore, I love baked potatoes with chicken faitias, salsa, sour cream and cheese on it. But those days are over, I can't even eat a can of Soup any more. After I eat it twice I don't want it any more. My poor husband, sister, and son in law get my left overs.

  4. I look forward to the day when I can impress someone with my weight loss. Where I live now I have no friends or family other than my hubby and son. I don't work because I am a caregiver to my husband who is a cancer patient.

Soon we will be moving back home where I will have my sisters and friends and I cannot wait. I have not gone anywhere other than hospitals and doctors appointments in 2 years. GAH!?!?!?

Sorry to here about your husband. My parents would be so happy to see me loosing weight they both worried about me , I have some cousins who have been hurtful over the years can't wait until the 2weekend in june for our family reunion. I went to see my Nuerologist for the first time this year and he didn't reconize me made me feel good.

  5. Hey! Just keep reminding yourself these 2 or so weeks of being in pain and being uncomfortable will give you a lifetime of happiness!!! I am 8 weeks out and able to enjoy chicken, veggies, rice and much more! I am still having random pains but it is SO much better!!!

  6. I had a Migraine headache and went to work with it. But it would have been easier to stay in a dark room.

I just need to try hydrating.

Dont like to take medication. Curious Anyone have Migraines?

what helps looking to change things. Thought i had stopped getting them.

Yes my Nuerologist told me to take CQ10 3 times a day and it works. I rarely have a migraine any more and they aren't to bad any more. It takes a while to get in your system and keep it there I take 200 gummies 3 x a day.

  7. Thanks all for your words... You did calm me down ... Hope to stay calm for the weekend...

I was very scared before my surgery, I know where your coming from. Just keep reminding yourself why you are doin this for you for me it,was my health my diabetes was out of control, my liver enzymes were over 1000, and the surgeon told me I would be dead in 7 yrs. So this helped me get thru it. I know you will do fine I was in hospital from monday - wed. After you wake up drink ,drink and drink. Walk, walk the hallways to work of the gas or it's liable to feel like your having a heartattack.
