    OVER 300 lbs

Lol! I always get pissed when people who are 10-20 lbs overweight complain. I think it is really rude, especially in front of obese/morbidly obese people. If you are 10-20 lbs overweight STFU and gain 100-200 more pounds and then complain to me

    VSG AND HEARTBURN...ANY REGRETS OVERALL?

No regrets! My doc actually found and repaired a hiatal hernia during surgery, now I have no heartburn whatsoever, even when I've forgotten to take my PPI. Before surgery, I would spend half the time waking up with reflux. Now I'm happy!
  3. What is your post op diet?
  4. I guess losing slower is easier on our bodies. I know somedays, the easiest things for me to eat are things like Peanut Butter and crackers. I have a hard time eating eggs and Proteins...they seem to make my sleeve unhappy. I also like apple juice and it soothes my tummy. Even with minimal carbs and half water/half juice, I am still losing weight. I'm sure if I were cutting out all carbs, it would be showing a faster rate of weight loss. My surgeon has me on regular foods after 4 weeks, slowly introducing them one by one. The sleeve really is a tool! I can eat one or two crackers and be satisfied, I no longer want the whole container.

    OVER 300 lbs

My highest was 337 pre op diet: 320 Surgery day: 312 Today: 295 I have a long ways to go, but I've lost 17 pounds in a little less than a month. I was sleeved on 9/22

    Stomach virus or ? (graphic)

How far post-op are you? During the first two weeks I was basically a walking commercial for Imodium when I needed to leave the house. It was bad!

    Phooey!

My sister just spoiled me and bought me some cheap tank tops from old navy in various sizes. They had a 30% off sale and she had some of their old navy bucks so the tanks cost less than 2.00 each!
  8. I am blogging my journey with vsg and just started a section for recipes and it's called "what's in my sleeve?" Adayinthesleevedlife.com
  9. I wish I had known how sensitive my sleeve was going to be post-op. I can't take Vitamins or medications without food now, or I am really nauseous and end up dry heaving for a good 10-30 minutes. So everytime I take medicine I crush them or split them in half and add to my yogurt or applesauce. I also wish I knew how I would feel post-op, but that we can't experience before hand. Going out to eat is a chore. I went with my sister to Red Robin and got Soup and barely ate a few spoonfuls.
  10. I wish I could snack sometimes lol, my sleeve is pretty sensitive and if I overeat, or even attempt one more bite I will throw up...well dry heave for 10-20 minutes. I know at some point I will have to add Snacks in and eat 5 mini meals, but it seems so daunting to me right now. I'm a month post op on Monday, and still don't have much of an appetite, and when I do eat, I can eat a few bites and be done.
  11. Refried beans with taco seasoning, scrambled eggs, applesauce, baby food (the fruits are delicious lol), steamed zucchini with marinara sauce, mashed potatoes with minced chicken
  12. As a fair warning to everyone...do not lean over and get laundry out of a washer if the washer hits around the surgical site. I made that mistake and am now having pains ???? I know it will feel better in a few days, but it is frustrating!

    Boudoir Photos

I was thinking of asking my friend who is a photographer to do some pics for me when I get to my goal weight. I may not show tons of skin as I have ugly stretch marks from my fat, but I wouldn't mind some nice lingerie for the first time in my life.
  14. I saw this and had to chime in...I'm not lgbt...but I hope everyone here feels welcome! If people don't like who you are because of your sexuality or even your choice to have wls, then maybe they aren't true friends/family. I have had many people say this is the easy way out, but it is far from it! Good luck and let me know how your surgery goes ????

    4 Wks Post Op Miserable

I was getting mucus built up in my tummy from my sinuses/allergies and was getting sick everyday, just pulling up mucus. I read another gal took Zyrtec to clear it up and so far I'm on day 2 without getting sick...hope it lasts ???? Please contact your doc/but and make sure they know what is going on.

    Popcorn

It can be eaten as a treat or out at the movies. But, I wouldn't eat it all the time. We should be able to make healthy food choices and not waste our sleeve space, but even my nut says sometimes you just need a little treat. If we deprive ourselves of a few pieces of popcorn some of us could end up in a tailspin to overeating...not sure how that's even possible as I can barely eat anything lol
  17. I know I didn't have much restriction during phases 1 & 2, but now that I am on phase 3-the soft diet, I can barely eat a meatball. It takes me about 2 hours to eat 2 meatballs...I know I'm 3 weeks out and it will get better...but I don't get how some people can eat so much after surgery. I watched "my 600 lb life" and one gal was eating fast food and large quantities after surgery...do some doctors only cut off a tiny bit of stomach? I feel stuffed on such a small amount, I couldn't imagine eating a full meal.

    Eating after surgery

The meatballs are pretty small. Maybe as round as a quarter or less. I wasn't aware we had to time our meals.

    Eating after surgery

I have baby food fruits and still eat those. I mush up my food but still can't eat much...which is the whole point of surgery I know lol

    Eating after surgery

I am on a soft mechanical diet and can have ground turkey/chicken. I made homemade meatballs and shave them down and chew them well. I also made sure they are moist with sauce on them to make it easier to eat. I didn't eat noodles or anything carby with them, just some meatballs and a bite of very steamed zucchini. My surgeon's protocol is day of surgery and next day- liquids. Week 1 puréed foods Week 2 & 3 soft mechanical foods Week 4 and beyond is "regular" foods that are chewed well and introducing foods 1 at a time. I am following the post op instructions given to me. I know all doctors are different. I was basically commenting on how I'm shocked that some people can still eat huge quantities of food when it seems like it would be impossible to do so.
