  1. I had the sleeve on 9/22/14 and am never hungry. I have to remind myself to eat otherwise I could go all day just drinking liquids. I chose the sleeve because I didn't want a blind stomach, the change in anatomy (besides part of my stomach being removed), and I'm a volume eater. You can still dump with the sleeve! I haven't had a major episode, but really fatty foods like Peanut Butter and sugary things like jelly bother me. I spent the first month drinking tea and Water and now I'm drinking Isopure black tea mixed with regular tea. It tastes like crystal light or Lipton packets and I get my Protein. I still can't eat much, I know they say that both the sleeve and bypass can stretch, but I'm never going to eat more than I should and have given up soda! How I miss it! But I took a tiny sip and let it sit on my tongue and it tastes so sweet and fake! No more diet coke for me! I also have no comorbidities, which is why some choose bypass over the sleeve. You can always go from sleeve to bypass if it doesn't work, but after bypass the only thing you can do is revision or band over pouch like Carnie Wilson did. I also didn't want to ever be scoped by a doctor or paramedic and having my bypass pouch perforated. Most bypass patients wear medical bracelets after surgery.
  2. I had the eebie jeebies about bypass and my organs being rearranged, the thought of having most of my stomach taken out didn't bother me. I still have a stomach, it's just smaller ???? I was terrified of leaks. I had read too many horror stories (and remember leaks are very rare)! I am 6 weeks out on Monday and would do this all over again! Good luck!
  3. If the waiter is nice, I just explain to them I had wls and that I would like to look at kids/senior menu and places I have been to have been fine. I haven't ordered off the kids menu though, usually just do a soup and salad and bring half home

    Tablets and capsules

I was told not to take anything bigger than a baby aspirin for a month. I have switched some of my vitamins to sublinguals and take a multi capsule from bariatric advantage. The capsule is bigger, but it breaks apart as soon as it hits your stomach (that's what I was told).

    Mourning the girls

I started with DDDs. I'm only about 6 weeks out and I can already see a difference in their size! If I lift my boobs ups I can see a ton of saggy skin...they were saggy in my early 20s so I'm used to sag lol...after I have kids I want to get them lifted and maybe implants if there isn't tissue left

  7. I took 6 weeks off. I have been tired. Lack of protein and my iron. I have to take all vitamins with food now or I get sick to my stomach.

    Depressed

I felt that way before surgery, thinking how I'll never be able to eat the same again. I am now modifying foods I like. I made wonton wrapper pizza so I get my pizza fix. One of them topped with pizza sauce, mozzerella, Parmesan and turkey pepperoni is filling for me. I haven't made any regular meals since surgery, but I hope to get back to cooking soon. I have had turkey taco meat with just a tiny bit of shredded lettuce and cheese on them. To get crunch I smashed up two tortilla chips on top. You will still be able to eat what you like, but in smaller quantities. I have lost 26 pounds since surgery and already feel the difference, not to mention I've had my pants fall off a few times. The smaller we become the less calories we need to sustain our bodies. Eating smaller amounts will soon become a regular part of our lives. Don't deprive yourself, just take a bite or two and move on.

    Fun Fall Foods

Baked Apples Core the top of the apple out and add cinnamon and whatever sweetener you use (if tart apples) and top with margarine or butter. Bake at 425 for about an hour or until apples are squishy. Works with pears as well, I just turned the pear upside down and cooked between the apples. Like apple pie!

    Advice needed- sleeved 10/21/14

Try some warm tea. It was the only thing I drank for the first week.
  11. I have had insulin resistance/pcos for years and barely have had periods. I'm down over 50 lbs since my high weight, and 26 lbs since surgery on 9/22. I was spotty about two weeks ago and now started a real period!!! I had this surgery to have a family someday and I'm hoping this is the start of me ovulating and becoming regular as I lose more weight. I will have to remember why I had this surgery as I curl up in the fetal position with cramps lol
  12. I was on a 40 grams of carbs or less a day diet. I could eat whatever I wanted, but stayed away from bread, tortillas, pizza, potatoes, rice etc since they are so carby and not as filling.
  13. I went out with my sister and had chicken tortilla soup at red robin. We also went out to Mexican and I ate some chicken out of her taco. I really am a super cheap date now.
  14. I agree with Kindle! The first two weeks I was drinking chamomile, lady grey, mandarin orange, and I ❤️ lemon tea.
  15. Did you eat too much and maybe when you bent over your body pushed it up towards your throat. The same thing happens with Gerd. Are you on a PPI? Could it be reflux?
  16. I used to drink a quad white chocolate and vanilla breve (Sugarfree during pre-op diet). I have tried to drink coffee a few times, decaf of course. I can drink it, but it takes forever! I got a small hot one and I had to reheat it multiple times. I have had a blended chill with yogurt and that felt fine. It's hard enough to get all my liquids in, so for now I'm sticking to iced tea, Water, and water flavored with SF snapple packets.
  17. I am post-op sleeve. I chose this since my insides wouldn't be rearranged and I am already anemic with low Vitamin d and b12. There is less risk of malnutrition with the sleeve. Both surgeries say no NSAIDS, but with the sleeve it is usually for the first 6 months and when I get a migraine, I need NSAIDs to help curb them.
  18. Walking and having my family members karate chop my shoulders and back helped disperse the bubbles ????
  19. I feel the same way! I can eat and then not be hungry at all. Somedays I feel like eating is such a chore now lol
  20. I just got mashed potatoes and gravy at Haggens and a rotisserie chicken. Then i took some Breast and mashed it up with gravy. We eat such a small amount that I wasn't worried about fat in it.
  21. Just wait until you get to semi solids...it's a whole other ballgame! I felt like I could eat so much broth and Jello and Soups, then came solids! I use a tiny bowl that holds only a half cup of food and put my meals in it...so it's really a little over a quarter cup and it is very filling. If I overeat it feels like thanksgiving and I want to puke for at least a half hour. Bread is pretty awful! It feels like a bowling ball sitting in the pit of my stomach and takes forever for the feeling to go away.
  22. Soups, chili, refried beans with taco seasoning, more jello (lol I'm tired of jello but still eat it), pudding, mashed potatoes and gravy w/ puréed chicken in the gravy, and baby food fruits (they really are yummy)

    Losing focus

I'm so sorry to hear about losing your mom! She wouldn't want you to worry about her as she is in a better place now! I know it is painful, and each day will get a tiny bit easier, but it takes time. Go back to basics and remember why you had this surgery. Start eating your Protein and veggies again with a little fruit. I work at home as well and will be going back soon, i never kept munchies at my desk before, and I will continue to keep my desk a food free zone besides my Water or tea. You have already done this once! You will be able to do it again! Please keep me posted on how you are doing ????

    Hiatal Hernia

I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time as my sleeve and neither really hurt, the gas pain was the worst part. The only few times I had any pain in the area was when I dry heaved the first time and it felt like my stomach came up and hit a brick wall! The other time was when I leaned to get clothes in my sister's washer and it was right in the same spot! Other than that, I barely took much of my pain medicine. I'm a month out and have way less Gerd/reflux than I did. I am taking a PPI to keep things calm, but I was taking one before hand anyways.
  25. Are you on a PPI and drinking enough water?
