  1. If you have a rite aid close to you the snapple packets and even sugar free hawaiian punch packets are only $1.00 each. Better than the 3 or 4 at grocery stores. You will rock your surgery! You are right, we have to take it day by day!
  2. I got packets of snapple sweet tea that are sugar free. I know it's not the same thing, but you will get used to it. I used to be a quad shot, white chocolate and vanilla breve gal, now if I have coffee it's a tiny sugar free vanilla with 2% milk. When I eat things now, some are too sweet even without sweetener. You will do great!

    Don't know what to think.

I was sold on the sleeve as soon as I heard about it. I too was hesitant on having a foreign object and didn't want my guts rerouted, so when I heard that docs could just take out a hunk of my stomach, I figured, why not? Everyone has to make the decision on which wls is right for them. Good luck!
  4. Tea is good! I use stevia so it's calorie free! Woohoo! After my sleeve getting in liquids is easier when drinking hot tea. I stocked up on lady grey, chamomile, mandarin zinger, and a celestial variety pack. I bought an apple cinnamon one but it is so sweet even without sweetener.
  5. I packed too much. I slept almost the whole time besides walking and sipping a bit of Water. I never used my cell phone, never changed until I was discharged, never used my crossword puzzle book etc. the only thing that came in handy was my stuffed animal I brought (from my niece and nephew) and the blankie (from my nephew). I didn't use any of the water flavoring I brought either. Not sure why I pack so much, it's not like a mini vaca lol
  6. I was in 40 grams or less of carbs per day. I lost about 12 pounds. I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I was under my carb count. I honestly saved my carbs for things like 10 mini tortilla chips to crunch up on my taco salad (about 10 carbs). I drank diet soda and sugar free coffee and lots of water! I ate a lot of seasoned chicken on salad and taco salad. Even when family was eating fast food, taco time kept me sane lol. The chicken hard taco only has a few carbs, so I could eat two of those and a few bites of chili and be satisfied. I know someone posted above about greek yogurt...try the plain fage and add things like torani sugar free syrups or no sugar added jelly.
  7. Today my hubby told me "you are looking so much skinnier" and that's at 11 days post-op!!!!! I'm excited! I can't wait to reach goal, even when I hit stalls, I will have to remember where I started. My highest weight was 337 a few months ago. I wanted to crawl under a rock! I haven't weighed since Monday, but even then I was 304. That's 33 pounds! Woohoo!
  8. I almost posted that myself haha
  9. I know I can make myself crazy diagnosing myself with things so I will ask here... Anyone else notice tenderness when pressing on tummy about 12 days post op? I haven't taken any pain meds for 2 days now and don't know it that was masking it. I pressed lightly over the area where hiatal hernia would have been repaired and it is definitely tender, not excruciating, but I wouldn't want to be punched there
  10. I'm still on my puréed foods, but there are sometimes it just seems to feel sore, lots of gas I think, but it takes forever to eat small quantities unless it's something very smooth like baby food. Tea and liquids I don't have much problem with either. Tonight I think I ate one bite too many and had a puke attack or dumping and I just don't know where that sweet spot is yet and many people say that it's too soon to tell since I'm still having nerves come back in my tummy Honestly I think it was dumping! I got sweaty and nauseous and felt miserable

    Puréed Foods

My puréed list has things on it like malt o meal, cream of wheat, yogurt, mashed potatoes, any meats are to be puréed/blended with broth/gravy and then eaten...so hard to even think of eating meats puréed...lol I'm too picky
  13. I just now realized I have an incision there...so I'm thinking the culprit has been found lol
  14. I also think my weight loss has my fat belly sitting in different spots now...can't wait til my beach ball belly is gone
  15. Haha! If it hurts don't touch it, right. I freak myself out and think "oh no it's a leak" or something like that. I think the first 11 days I was still numb. Even some of my incisions were still numb up until today. Now my tummy is waking up or something...nerve regeneration.

    Bypass vs sleeve?

I had sleeve even with reflux. Turns out it was a hiatal hernia that was causing the issues and it was repaired during surgery.

    Scar remedies

I've tried things like mederma and they never made much of a difference to me. My mom has always sworn by popping open a vitamin e capsule and using that.

    Pain Meds

My doc prescribed dilaudid since I'm allergic to Percocet...it made me sleepy! Honestly, I didn't have a ton of pain.

    Ok I'm mad!

I love pb2 chocolate on apples...can't wait til I can add fruit back in my diet
  20. @@Pamela870 I tried the premier Protein and it was awful lol...I sound like grumpy cat. I honestly have such a hard time with protein. Most of it makes me want to gag. I could chug them pre-op and not taste them as much, but now post op I have a really hard time getting all the protein in. I'm eating greek yogurt and milk and things like that, but it's still not 60 or more grams a day

    Any Washington State Sleevers?

I'm up north in lake Stevens. Maybe we could all meet in the middle somewhere. I still don't have a ton of energy, anyone else still tired?

    Puréed Foods

@@mefosburg @@auntjanny I'm eating baby food fruits, mashed potatoes and gravy, taco seasoned refried Beans, malt o meal, and yogurt so far. I honestly don't know how other people can purée food. I just can't eat puréed chili or Soups even, when I had jaw surgery a lot of people actually puréed McDonald's and other foods....sounds awful to me

    Dentures

I'm sorry to hear all this. I had braces and jaw surgery a few years ago and was told that my jaw bone is very thin, but she was able to put screws and plates in without having to harvest bone from my hip. Are there any other oral surgeons/dentists you could see? I'm wondering if bone grafts would help? My grandma lost her teeth at a young age, I believe in her late teens or early 20s and she said that dentures are so painful. My sister is a dental assistant, I will have to ask what she thinks would help ????

    Could use a little advice

I had gerd/reflux and was told by a previous doctor that I didn't have a hiatal hernia, but what do you know, the surgeon found one and repaired it, no more gerd for me. I chose the sleeve even if there was a possibility that I'd still have it, I was thinking that life with tums or PPIs was better than being morbidly obese for the rest of my life.
  25. I'm hoping you wake up with relief! It really is a strange sensation not having the acid feeling. I have pics of the hernia...pretty big hole, glad it's sewn back up
